I love Vans and I love Argentina but purchasing Vans here, made here in Argentina has not been up to the standards of other producers. I would recommend purchasing Vans made overseas if you are in Argentina and you want your footwear to last.

Typically all big footwear brands have production in Argentina for the local market only. This may be fully made in Argentina (as in this Vans example) or assembled components (uppers and outsoles) from Asia. BTW....the cost of this product is typically 3x the cost of the product from Asia....therefore it won't be sold anywhere but Argentina. All major footwear brands produce product in Asia for the rest of the world's consumption due to the expertise and price. Adidas produces over 250 mil pair of shoes with 35% made in Vietnam/31% made in China/24% made in Indonesia/10% other. Nike produces over 400 mil pair of shoes with 40% made in Vietnam/30% made in China/20% made in Indonesia/10% other....
So sad to know Vans Old Skool are not made in Argentina anymore :( I was able to find a pair of those some weeks ago and they were the last ones in the shop. They told me they have to wait new Vans Old Skool imported from the US - and they are way more expensive now! (Vans Argentina broke in 2018)

Still making Vans product in Brazil for the local Argentina market since they have the Mercosur free trade agreement. Colombia doesn't have restrictive import duties so they are shipped product from Asia factories that has a lower landed cost than if it was made in Colombia.

Not as low as $4 for sure, but less than the retail price of course. Factory sells them to the brand. Brand sells them to the Retail stores. Retail stores sell to the consumer. There is markup in every step. That's how ALL consumer products work...
they will last you a long time! especially if your just walking in them. Vans are good because they feel like they're already broken in and comfortable.
my two vans was 1year and 10months old :) and they're still doing great, my black one looks new even if its a year old :) but my grey one is kinda like dirty look but still wearable, so yeah! vans last long :)
