The only county jail I've ever been in only had two exits. It was a sliding reenforced steel door. Once you opened that door there was a second sliding reenforced door. In order to open the second one you had to close the first door and have the person at the desk let you out. The second exit was similar.

It’s sad on one hand and extremely scary on the other, as they could find themselves in some very dangerous situations due to their lack of awareness in their surroundings…your senses should be heightened and hyper alert working in that environment.

I worked in a CA state prison for 25 years and the common escape story they told was of an inmate who made his way to the outside sallyport among a large group of staff leaving for the day (later, only five people could exit through the sallyport). He had obtained a staff ID card (some lost IDs were never found) and had a new photo of himself taken after he shaved off a large beard and moustache. He glued the new photo onto the ID card and waltzed right out the front door. Finding himself in the staff parking lot, he looked around and saw unmarked state vehicles. He yelled up to an officer in the tower and said that he needed keys to one of the state cars. The tower officer said, "I'll need some ID." The inmate made up some excuse for not having one and the tower officer said "Okay, here are the keys and the credit card, just sign this." The inmate drove the car off prison grounds. Down the road a bit, he ran out of gas and was stuck on the side of the road. A staff member from the prison stopped to assist. The staff member drove the inmate to the nearest gas station and showed him how to use the credit card. The inmate purchased gas and the staff member returned him to his vehicle. The inmate proceeded to drive almost across the country, taunting prison staff along the way with letters and/or phone calls (can't remember details). Eventually, investigators tracked his credit card use and were able to apprehend him.

@@pennypillow4445 I understand that and the problem is more complicated. It's part of the rush to the bottom created by republicans. Let me explain.
Certain people want harsher laws, but less government spending and lower taxes. So you putting more people in jail or prison, with few and lower paid officers. When I did a cost of living comparison between officers in California, Oregon and Washington and compared that to officer pay in several southern, central and mid western states.
You get what you pay for. I did union work for a department. They had strong protections, but drug use, dishonesty, excessive use of force or sexual misconduct was grounds for automatic dismissal. I told employees if they engaged in any of these activities, during the dismissal process, all I could do was hold their hand and provide tissue. Both the local government, management and officers agreed that they didn't want anyone employed that was engaged in these behaviors.

She went behind the intake desk and managed to go out out a door that leads to the release station/visitation area. The guy in the second video is in the same area of the jail. Those guys he was walking with were being released. He stood with them quietly so he could walk right out. The guard should have known he was releasing 4 inmates and not 5. He either didn't know the number of inmates being released or he didn't care.
