it don’t matter don’t spend hundreds man fr. i’ve caught a 44 and a 46 this year off my beach in jersey from a cheap 50-100$ 10ft rod. medium heavy is amazing gives you that whipping action for getting it out there. don’t spend hundreds of dollars you’re gonna catch fish if they’re there on anything. i use a freshwater reel on one of my surf poles
