Beautiful integrated amplifier, could you compare or give us your opinion between model 40n and PM7000N? That would be great to hear. Nice video, greetings from Spain 🇪🇸
Good review! I have a Marantz PM7000N purchased two and a half years ago and I have been wondering if the 40N would be a worthy upgrade for over double its price? Feature wise it looks like HDMI is the main difference. Is the amplifier section of the 40N significantly better than the PM7000N and importantly is the internal DAC better? (The PM7000N was purchased before the AKM fire in Japan and the DAC chip shortage).
Really wonderful presentation. Can you give me some advice, I'm not sure whether to buy this Yamaha amplifier AS 1200. or the Marantz 3 0 amplifier. The price in Serbia is similar. It seems to me that the Yamaha has a more powerful transformer and many more components inside, while the Marantz is stronger for 10 Watts. Your advice would be very useful to me, greetings.
HDMI input is for eArc only, which is a feature of TV's, unfortunatly not for PC's. For a PC what you really want is an amp with USB-B input, like the Yamaha RN1000A or RN2000A.
@@SoundlineAudioNewZealand thanks and I agree about USB, it would be the best. This amplifier would be perfect if it had that USB. Would you be able to recommend any similar model within similar price range that has USB? From what I read in manual the input in this Marantz amp is actually ARC rather than eARC. My PC also has ARC socket so in theory I thought this connection could work. If not then I could indeed connect it to tv instead which also has ARC HDMI. My PC is connected to that TV as well. So I now wonder, if sending an audio signal to my TV from my PC, then further from my TV to Marantz will work. Again, I think that will potentially work. Question is will the quality not be degraded when audio signal has to travel through a longer chain of devices.
Absolutely, the Lumina IIIs would go nicely with either of those amplifiers. Personally I am more of a fan of the Model 40n just cause I prefer the class AB sound, it I have no doubt they would still sound good on the model 30.
Streaming sucks . i like to own my music . if streaming isn't your thing then consider the model 30 . it's perfect for analog freaks and it has tone controls which i still love . i can tweak the song exactly how i want it . sometime i might want a bit more bass in a song i play often or i can get rid of any sharp highs that i find annoying . never understood why tone controls were dropped by most manufactures . I LOVe the smooth creamy sound of the 30 .
the other reason i got the 30 is because i'm using 4 ohm speakers that are NOT sensitive . the extra power of the 30 at 200 watts into 4 ohms really wakes up my speakers .
Why would anyone spend this amount of money for this level of quality and then stream Spotify? That’s like buying a Ferrari and fitting it with 4 emergency-only biscuit wheels
Honestly it just fucking annoys me to see sooo much put into making the CD player and not putting a fucking USB C and a drive similar to that of a PS5!!!

Great quality and design!
Nice review James , good looking beast , Im rather partial to an PM-10 i must say ,15 k in Aoteroa
Do you think the marantz 40n will be a good pair with the sonus faber lumina II 4 ohms 30-150 watts .

Hi, nice review! How would this amp pair with the Monitor Audio Gold 200 in your view? Thanks.
The design of these thing is even more beautiful than their classics! Great video too!
Would it be possible to use HDMI to connect this amplifier with PC or that would only work for connecting to TV? Thanks.

Do the Model 30 and 40N match well with Lumina III?

it's listed on the marantz web site as being class D or did you mean it sounds like a class AB ?
El Marantz 40n es clase AB. Y 30 es clase D
Can the USB port be used to connect to my computer?
No I dont think so, I believe it is mass storage read only.
The music playing in the backround is quite annoying while trying to listen to you speaking ?

Convenience. You can still hook up high quality sources. If your a die hard separates are better but these integrated amps are stellar.
This guy gets it.
Have you heard how good hi res streaming is these days? My NAD and Sony ES CD players have been collecting dust for years!!!
I like the ki ruby better.
I prefer the new design
Honestly it just fucking annoys me to see sooo much put into making the CD player and not putting a fucking USB C and a drive similar to that of a PS5!!!
Get a therapist pal
It’s not a CD player.
It has a USB input!!!!!
WHY NO PRE OUTS!!!! A game ruiner for me!
Not everyone needs pre-outs, it was designed to be a stand alone amp.
The amp is the most robust part of this so a pre out doesn’t make much sense.
then buy a pre amp .....
