I do karting, thanks to my granddad having loved motorsport since the 80s basically being a mechanic. It's insane how much quicker the front runners are - they have "super engines" where they buy tons of engines, take the best parts from them, then build an essentially perfect engine, some buy a new chassis worth thousands every week, and most buy £150 tires every race weekend, if not every session.
I'd say combining all of these advantages, karting is less close than F1 which is insane and had made me understand how unfair F2 must be as well.
Overall the front-runners probably have an advantage of AT LEAST half a second a lap, if they have around 8 tenths or somewhere near a second on the rest of the field i honestly wouldnt even be surprised.
In fact, in the results table you can even see in Qualifying how the top 6 or so, the front-runners (one of whom apparently spend 300K per year on it) have a massive gap on the rest of the field, who are incredibly tight (one tenth can take you up like 9 places on the grid)
Additionally, when one of them messes up quali and has to make their way through the field, you can **feel** how much better their karts are, especially the engine. When i was in the slipstream of one who had just overtaken me but i was tryna defend, they were still slightly pulling away. I had slipstream. Ridiculous.
Yep hearing some of the karting stories it’s insane how much money some people throw at it
@kart3347 your comment got a comment from the video maker
@@DanNoSkillI’m a big fan also subbed and let’s get that 100k before the end of the year I’ve enjoyed watching your vids but it’s truly insane how much money is needed for the real life stuff and I was happy that the first racing wheel with peddles you named was the Logitech 29 because I have that one and it’s good, but oblivious I want a better one and a better seat (I current have the Playseat trophy) and better/more monitors but how I have it now is all good for now and keep up the good work man I appreciate you
0:06 Tsunoda setup
Hamilton was basically sponsored all the way to f1 since he was a kid anyway, but either way you don't see any working class or even above average people even making it past karting anymore let alone lower formulas like formula 4 at all anymore. The amount of money required in karting is ridiculous in itself and without the money to spend on testing and new chassis every race its almost impossible to compete with the front runners not matter how talented you are.
Once Hamilton alonso and I believe Ocon are gone that’ll probably be it for anyone middle class making it to f1 ever again
@@DanNoSkill I'm still gonna do my best to make it there 💪

im a professional pretend race car driver
This is very true
I'm not even A professional.
Sim racing has 2 very big drawbacks.
1: while it's not as expensive as actually racing IRL, a good sim setup will still set you back thousands of dollars. Not to mention the ongoing costs of online racing.
2: You have to deal with sim racers.....
Well, your already so into the hobby that you probably have a pc already
Not as much as you think. While a direct drive wheel runs around $600 and up. A decent intro wheel like the Logitech is less than $300. And yeah, iRacing isn't cheap, but Assetto Corsa is, as well as others like Forza or Gran Turismo. And if you hook up with a good club, the idiot brigade can be filtered out. We race every week on FM. Been racing together for over 10 years.
Managed to do a full rig, f1 ish position for 1200 (properly a few quid on odds elsewhere)... that's a 8040 rig, fanatec csl Dd, sparco seat (adjustments and brackets etc)...
That's the cheapest I could do it for... 8040 rig metal was £240 from Motedis (plus brackets bolts etc)... I would advise anyone to go this way and not GT Omega etc...
According to a book i read about Michale Shumcher his father was a brick layer. His Manager Willi Webber was a local businessman to managed him. The deal was he would keep all trophies as payment as Shumcaher could not pay him.
in that era you could be middle class and make f1 with pure talent, now only alonso, lewis and i believe ocon could really be called middle class, its getting alot harder
it's not a suprise everyone can race in sim racing (even on gamepad) and racing games are popular for last 30 years. also it's great way to compete against irl races without irl racers money
Simracing isnt really cheap, maybe it is in the US market, as a decent wheel can be 100$, taking into consideration that the minimum salary working an entire month, for 8 hours, everyday the week (I dont remember if when I did the math I counted saturday and sunday) its an average minimum is of 2000$, meanwhile, in Argentina, where I live, the average salary is less than 200$, argentinian mail doesnt help either, as its very dangerous, mail gets robbed pretty often, and sometimes its just a scam from a well known brand, now, prices arent helping either, while you can buy a 488 GTB Thrustmaster wheel around 50$ on the US market, in here, without counting taxes it would be a price of around 320 US dollars, just the wheel, and later if you want to have a chance at being competitive on iRacing or other simracing games you need something way better than that, or a lot of patience, practice, and talent.
Then there is the price just to get a PC and the monitor, and we have around 80% taxes for electronics entering the country, however I can say there is their benefits, I'm taking karting lessons and the price converted to US dollars would be around 40$ per session, around 2 hours a session, which, it might seem cheap for europe or America/Canada, it's quite something in this country, so, no, simracing is'nt cheap, lol.
yeah 100% depends on location and income, more in the "grand scheme" of things its a lower barrier to entry (shown by how many more people simrace compared to proffesionally race) but u are correct still
Love your energy man ! Keep it up !
tyyyy :D
Without needing expensive machinery...
1:11 i love TeamSport Karting
hard ass video dan
thansk broski
So for my setup I have
A good old Logitech G923 £350
£1100 PC
GT Omega ART cockpit £320 (roughly)
1440p 144hz Monitor £260 (roughly)
Keyboard and mouse tray £70
Keyboard and mouse that my brother no longer used
All for £2100 though I’ve actually won £55 through F1 league racing so essentially £2045
Might sound like a lot but compared to real life racing that’s nothing and it’s an absolute blast to play. Keep in mind as well it is at my disposal whenever so I can play whatever time I want unlike real life which is also another advantage of sim racing.
Lovely video as usual mate keep pumping them out 🫡
Great info showing just how much less sim racing can be cheers mate :)
Which f1 league? In which game?

also, karting is really quite dangerous! I've been inured doing it before - very much a skill issue but simulators are far better

Maybe if you watch Dan’s long form videos than you will find another solution to budget sim racing.

Does anyone have any suggestion for the cheapest (somewhat decent but not anything super serioues) sim racing console+game+wheel possible? (For F1)
xbox or ps, f1 24, logitech g29. otherwise pc, assetto corsa and mods but a pc will be a bit more expensive
I have a now a setup with an PS5 an 43 inch monitor that supports 120hz an playseat trophy an Logitech g29 steer and pedals and F1 23 and a steelseries headset
@@DanNoSkill F1 24 isnt a really realistic game
@@BigerburgerThat's why he mentions that in some of his videos Assetto corsa and GT7 and iracing might be better chance for closer realistic racing
@@carlaosorio5716 yes but F1 23 is more realistic than F1 24
you raised a valid point, but you can't compare real motorsport and simulators. plus, high level simulators are mort expensive than sport cars.
a high end simulator is a more expensive 1 time cost, but racing in any competative sports car series will likely cost alot more per year. altho there are as u said major differences still between the sim and real life however a few drivers have made the transition

sim racing isn't new.
in the grand scheme of motorsport it is, especially as it gets taken more seriously than ever
@@DanNoSkill I've been simracing for a couple of years now. And it has already been taken seriously. Look at league racing, official F1 esports series, etc.
@@fishingninja i know its been around a few years but grand prix racing has been around over 100 years, and for example go karting since the 1950s. when i say new i mean new in the grand scheme of things related to racing, sim racing as a method to actually enter motorsports has only really begun over the last 10-15 years at most
