Elon should not even appear at the 10/10 event, to make clear that Tesla is in good hands, without or with Elon, so it is clear to the world that Tesla is not "a cult of personality," just like SpaceX has demonstrated its viability independent of Elon.
Perhaps Elon should just call into the event, making it clear that he has full confidence in his management team, particularly their capability for leading the world in continuing the revolution in bringing EVs as Robotaxi's to the world, to be followed closely with Optimi.
If I were Tesla I would of negotiated a netflix special with Warner bros, in which 10/10 is a large part of it. This can get put to millions of people.

Tesla doesn't have to build all the cars themself. Money will be made through all cars with self-driving software and hardware provided by Tesla. The question is who becomes the first to include Tesla technology?

I remember when Honda service writers didn't know that the Element and Civic had timing chains. You will know that Tesla FSD has "made it" to mainstream consciousness when the average insurance salesman knows to offer a discount for FSD.
I say they have installed an Optimus Holder on the Cybercab and they will show the Bot being transported. You can not just summon a cab. You can summon a bot (in the future)
I think they need to show that older models can do robotaxi too
It's not just about the car or the design, but mostly about the software that makes the car a taxi. The software has to be complete and absolutely safe and trouble free.
The only way the stock moves up is if Tesla has something ready to go or very close that is more than what has been speculated so far.

Warner Brother studio and Backlot is like a mini city that has traffic signs and multiple different addresses. I think people will be getting robotaxi rides all around the campus.

@@ZaphodTube it's a controlled environment. The regulatory agencies haven't approved hands free robo taxi for tesla. So they just can't go out on the streets. That's my guess.

I would like to see a "relay" function. This is wherse another robotaxi meets up with the one you are in so you can transfer from the first to the second. This would allow unlimited distance trips. Also keep you going even if the first robotaxi malfunctions, needs cleaning, or runs low on charge. I would also like to see the robotaxi scan your face to ID you are the correct passenger before opening the door for you. I hope it is able to recognize you leaving luggage or packages in the robotaxi and alert you before you walk away.
Some good ideas
Most people will want to go to the bathroom or stretch during the day so switching the vehicle at the supercharging/cleaning station is fine
During the night, for long distance trips, customers will not want to be woken up and the car will juice up when its low, then continue driving.
Overnight robotaxi trips will replace short haul flights for many people
@@JohnMcAfee-se9ms The whole point of the relay function is to avoid having to go out of the way to a recharging station. The customer doesn't want that. They we be willing to transfer to another robotaxi at a safe place where the second taxi is waiting for it. Also, if there is a malfunction or another reason why the first taxi is unable to continue, they want another taxi right there to pick them up and complete their trip for them. Everyone hates having a "connection" at a mid-flight airport terminal during their air travel. With robotaxis, the system can arrange for a relay hand-off between taxis that only takes 5 minutes and does not deviate off the most efficient route. With relays, you never have to delay a trip to recharge. But if you are willing to accept the delay and an out-of-the-way side trip, that will likely be a lower-cost option.
My recent use of Waymo in SF confirmed the idea that a production vehicle can work as an autonomous taxi.
After they map 10s of millions of miles of roads AND they build millions of expensive lidar covered cars🤷♂️

You guys are expecting too much. I think you are all going to be disappointed. 😇 I think Elon will show up in the car driving by itself, show it to everyone, give the specs and how they plan to deploy them. Expected time of deployment and give demo rides to atendees in a close circuit.

I know its crazy-highly unlikely, but how crazy would it be if they already had a tunnel built underneath warner bros studio and you could go from there to across LA effortlessly. And yes, i know its unlikely.
At last good inputs from Herbert. Kudos for showing some neutral emotions and some fear Herbert. It is indeed a big moment for Tesla and based on past presentations it could flop, but this time it would bring the stock down with it. Battery day was very interesting but few things actually exist today and it is 4 years now. Only 4680 exists and it is not a factor so far, not does it has better concentration than its competition.

A movie studio has one unique aspect: exterior sets that constitute a closed course and can simulate urban scenes familiar to many people.
Brian is the rational one, here. You’ve never refused to ride in an Uber because of the type of car that showed up - it doesn’t reflect on your ego because it’s obviously not YOUR car. The Robotaxi is the same. The product is the autonomous ride service. They don’t have to market the robotaxi as a retail consumer electronic device like an iPhone. It has to be safe, functional and cheap to use. That’s it. But, like Brian said, it will be beautiful because it still has to look like the future…
If robotaxis may have multiple owners, they need to look like reliable, safe, vehicles able to call for needed service - whether their owners want to pay for that or not.

No chance it doesn't reach destination flawlessly!! Elon is not stupid or careless. FSD is already good so there is no "event" unless robotaxis are operating. That is not to say they will be ready countrywide but event will be delayed if robotaxis not ready to autonomously drive around the movie set!!
It will be fine as long as the ball bearings are left at the gate.
Maybe a flying Roadster will be announced in the same location as Back to the Future was filmed.

The problem with the "peoplemover / shuttle" type design is that it is a brick at speed. Waymo's don' t go at highway speeds. Tesla most definitely wants to have good product differentiation and universal applicability. Certainly possible that Zoox type design would be used in urban only settings, but specialized design is not the normal Tesla product signature.
They need a plain old box van for many, many reasons. Passenger van, work vans, camper vans, taxi vans, etc. You fly into any airport you need a van with at least 4 to 5 seats and a luggage area. (how many you tube videos have you seen with a nissan ice van, with tesla decals running service calls on Tesla EV's? The videos make fun of them like the modle 3 with a generator hanging on the back)
Vans are usually used by a group of people for an extended period. That's not a normal "taxi" application.

Someone I know, close to the inside, hinted and smirked when I recently once said that "I wish Tesla would have made a normal truck, I wish they would just license out their tech FSD/Software platform and put it in a Chevy Silvarado". I dont know if its better for investors if Tesla keeps this tech for themselves and maybe for my sake they do come out with more of a normal truck, or if they license out the FSD tech and interior software package.

I see the potential absolutely in Tesla but I get sick of the posturing about all this world changing tech, that never arives.
You keep caring about the perception Herbert. Forget that who cares the tech is going to get so advanced to make all else absolete. With achievement of feature complete FSD it speaks for itself when that is on the road.

The houses in that demo were not paneled with solar shingles.
We have not seen any leak of new car or robotaxi. So 10/10 may not showcase real car. Maybe just stationary prototype. Maybe they just use existing M3 for demo. This is not good for the stock .
Guesswork ...less than 30 days and we know more ...but it's fun to speculate
If Tesla unveils the compact car on 10/10, it will be cheaper to buy, service and insure. The use case for Robotaxis will be reduced. Therefore no compact car reveal, only Robotaxis.
Instead Tesla will use elements of the unboxed model to make the Model 3 and Y cheaper.
The robotaxi price minimum will need to account for power, depreciation, tires, insurance, maintenance/repairs and cleaning. That plus a profit for owner of vehicle and for Tesla. Imo it will be cheaper than Uber or anyone, but not too much. No reason to give it away.

The Model 3 with the cameras in the strange positions seems to match my Cybertruck camera positions. Was this Model 3 out testing with extra sensors before there were many Cybertrucks for data collection for the Cybertruck FSD? They do use extra sensors for training so all Teslas only need cameras with Tesla Vision and the inference computers.
The elephant in the room will be regulation. They need to show people where they are with regulation globally along with a roll out plan.
There are a lot of jurisdictions that have pre emptively allowed this and it's technology that doesn't even exist yet

I think one thing I'm not hearing at all, is the semi. mass production and or fsd on the semi are also huge disruptions.
Tesla's designs are minimalist; Elon Musk's visions are extravagant in scope. The significance of 10/10 is that Elon Musk will be trying to obtain another contract similar to that of 2018 in scope. This time the expansion in value won't be to continue building a 30M car company, but something that has the same effect . That will require an influx of investment capital to increase the share price. That will require 10 more investors. It will require many more people to envision a future that's hard to believe unless they can see multiple, working, robot cars without drivers in some kind of traffic with wild humans.
imo The movie studio lot will be used to demonstrate that kind of traffic with stunt drivers sharing a driving space with robots.

In a recent meeting with JPMorgan (mid Jun 24) Tesla's Director of Investor Relations said they will build robotaxis off the next generation platform that won't launch until the company is much closer to fully utilizing its existing production capacity, which may take several years.
The Tesla Investor Relations team went on to say Tesla's next wave of growth will be led by the introduction of lower cost models (plural) that are expected to roll out in force by 2025, and will not use the next gen platform which won't roll out until around 2027.
If there is an impressive Optimus display, the stock will be up greatly!

I agree Tesla needs an event producer. Elon is not the best at public speaking yet he is charming so there's that. The company has matured and needs to look more professional at the events (production n particular) to attract big investors.
I don´t think they will build more than a 2 seater cybercab. A 2 seater will cover most probably 85% of normal taxi business. When requesting you specify taxi type. If you have family and luggage you get a normal Tesla car that has FSD.
The model 2 $25k is currently on hold, you will have cheaper variants of the 3 and Y with smaller lighter CATL latest gen batteries so keeping most of the range and a slightly slower 0-60 mph time. Make the batteries from CATL in the factory in Nevada, the equipment is already there.
Cheaper spec interior, not all double glazing glass, limited free colours, only RWD, some entertainment items omitted or scaled down but available for extra price ie no rear screen, less speakers, cheaper wheels
I remember first Model 3s all I saw was white as that was the free colour. Reducing the cost, the spec and reducing the profit margin will give a cheaper Tesl but more than $25,000.
I see the compact Model 2 fully openbox arriving after they have worked out the kinks of the open box with the Cybercab production. I think the Model 2 will be a compact SUV that looks a bit like a VW Golf. The fully open box production method is what cuts the costs to produce a profitable $25,000 car
I would have the actual robot taxis doing demos within warner brothers, plus other Tesla cars driving around the lot, then have people sitting the back of some model 3s and Ys to take people for a supervised simulated taxi ride for 8-10 minutes in the real world. I would also have Optimus bots walking around the lot and crossing the road so you get 3 different elements in one demo, maybe use them to open and close the taxi doors.
I would have them fighting Tie Fighters. We are the same.

Why does Elon use the term Intervention but all RUclipsrs say disingagements for takeover or intervention for helping like accelerator or speed set, or turn signal. Their metrics are vague.

Hollywood has movie making attributes. Why not have stunt people jump out in front of a moving Tesla to show the audience that Tesla does stop.
Guys, you are getting way ahead of things and I believe Tesla is too. My Model Y and my friend's Model 3 HAVE YET TO UPDATE TO FSD 12.4.
FSD 12.3 is worthless to us. It sucks. I don't even use it anymore because it is just F'n dangerous. CAN WE FOCUS MORE ON THE TESLAS THAT ARE ALREADY OUT THERE THAT DO NOT HAVE FSD 12.4 YET? I am really beginning to feel cheated and the moment I've been waiting for (for years!) has been very much tainted and darkened. FIX THE TESLAS THAT ARE ALREADY OUT THERE BEFORE MOVING ON INTO THE FUTURE!

Many cars are inspired by the shape of a fish. Tesla can hunt down a profile of a fish I think to create a Robo Taxi
Honestly, I don't give a flying rat's rear end about 10/10. I care about fixing the Teslas that are already out there. If you don't take care of us, the people struggling with FSD and updates and features will migrate somewhere else. We won't go back to ICE vehicles. But, unless Tesla starts addressing this HUGE problem, people's next car might well be Chinese. I could be very happy with a Chinese EV. The Chinese are known for innovation, technology and QUALITY of build - and, of course, for offering those EVs at a competitive price with similar features to Teslas.
Tesla can ignore this at their own peril. It's all going well. For now. But, it could go south very quickly if Tesla does not address the 100s of thousands of Teslas already out there and the real problems we are all having. FIX IT.
Stock will probably sell off after the event unless unsupervised FSD is visibly on the horizon. If it's not clear when FSD will be solved then it's back to quarterly delivery numbers and auto gross margins until whenever that is.

They need to reveal a mini delivery vehicle for food and products that is autonomous and low cost to business and consumers. They need to create “Doorstep”. Something like Chickfillet’a bot only a full on mini vehicle with Tesla-style gamechange problem solving

My opinion. This video presented a lot of food for thought, and you guys have interesting ideas of what 10/10 might be. But do any of those ideas fit with the way that Elon thinks when we compare them to all previous reveal events? Elon cares only about the long term performance and perception. He doesn’t give a squat about short term performance nor perception. None of his previous reveals had anything to do with short term. So what is 10/10 likely to be? 10/10 is likely to be focused entirely on long term performance and perception, and zero amount of short term. This means lots of groundbreaking announcements and mind blowing concepts but nothing that affects the next earnings report. This means the majority of dull stock traders are not going to get it nor like it, and that means Tesla stock will fall after 10/10, just as it has after all other reveals. And will Elon care? No. So, I think you guys have great ideas about “what it would take” to shoot the stock price to the moon on 10/10. But in my view the likelihood is near zero that any of those scenarios will happen on 10/10. Sorry.

Didn't elon at one point say that wall street probably won't get it and the stock will go down? I remember him down playing the robo taxi event but I can't remember if that was before they pushed it back 2 months
Car manufacturing is a $30/share business at the highest end. This event was priced in 10 years ago. Definitely not going to push up the stock, but sellers will be lined up to offload stock that day

This is not a binary solution… ie they have ALL taxis or none. No. The wisest choice is always to stick with the product or service most used and wanted by the client.
The vast majority of taxi trips are 1 or 2, veryyyyy short.
Therefore, pretty, comfortable, spacious are all unrequired and not needed to satisfy the client. Make it sufficiently easy to get in and out. Sufficiently comfortable for a 10-20 minute trip. Enough space for a small box or a few bags. Quiet enough to hear a bit of music.
Highly reliable, VERY cheap per trip, very fast to get to me and CLEAN!
Give me that and I’ll seriously consider dropping my car.
For anything else… be it comfort, speed, space, etc. which is 10% or less of the time, I’ll call UBER.

All Teslas should have a lift kit to raise/lower ride height and entry access.
Too much Tesla stock is owned by people who aren't Elon. That's why he is going hard on xAI, which he can 100% own. Chinese companies are going to own the mid-range electric car for a while and no other US company is even looking at it. There's going to be no popular Tesla models. The last Tesla vehicle was the Cybertruck, widely ridiculed even more widely collected and hauled away to be repaired. Elon wants to tie Tesla to xAI rent so he can gradually suck the value out of Tesla (a name with no X's in it) while rebuilding his empire without pesky investors. Tesla investors will cheer and the stock price will go up, until Tesla is a brand with no manufacturing facilities.
