Every few miles, you see a Tesla car on the road. You almost never see any other electric vehicles, and when you do see one you feel bad for the person that they didn't purchase a Tesla. Tesla has probably the best engineers in North America. I've got a clear impression that at some point in our future, Tesla company will be responsible for upgrading the entire power grid in North America, and as a result, they will be in control of all power generation in North America. @@theogillan5510 the conclusion for me of this dichotomy in the free speech debate (twitter dont even take down posts marked as hatecrime when the reports are made from countries which actually have hatespeech laws like scotland. ie they *dont* uphold the law in the countries where they opperate, and just say "sue us") ... is the idea of an "ideal" and and "idealism". elon talks about the idealism. he is idealistic about free speech. there is also and actuall ideal speech, which is not idealistic. quite often, whats actual ideal, is different from what is ideology. the ideology is sound. free speech is constitutionally enshrined for a reason. the main battle is upholding the idealism. but it falls far short of acheiving whats ideal. in a case where you cant even live up to sound ideology, thats your battle. i think upholding the ideology instead of the ideal is doing us a disservice, but certainly if the idealism wasnt already established (and he says, in many countries they dont even have free speech, so this is the main battle - which leaves audiences in the west like - but its sub-ideal!) then this is what would be justifiable. it just seems strange in the west, that with the ideology of free speech firmly established, and in america, constitutionally enshrined - that it is holding us back to not strive for the ideal off the back of that. and he is saying, not at the expense of the idealism.

is the idea of an "ideal" and and "idealism".
elon talks about the idealism. he is idealistic about free speech.
there is also and actuall ideal speech, which is not idealistic.
quite often, whats actual ideal, is different from what is ideology.
the ideology is sound. free speech is constitutionally enshrined for a reason.
the main battle is upholding the idealism.
but it falls far short of acheiving whats ideal.
in a case where you cant even live up to sound ideology, thats your battle. i think upholding the ideology instead of the ideal is doing us a disservice, but certainly if the idealism wasnt already established (and he says, in many countries they dont even have free speech, so this is the main battle - which leaves audiences in the west like - but its sub-ideal!) then this is what would be justifiable. it just seems strange in the west, that with the ideology of free speech firmly established, and in america, constitutionally enshrined - that it is holding us back to not strive for the ideal off the back of that. and he is saying, not at the expense of the idealism.

Great conversation, anecdotes, answers, discussions. Elon came across really well here, great to see.

It’s what happens when you have intelligent human beings actually talking things through like adults instead of listening to banter on social media and by the Democratic Party who has yet to do any unfilted and unscripted interviews.
