May I ask for your opinion, if by working hard (coz i hear from Christians on two ends of this, where one side says to work as hard as possible and is a virtue, and the other side is relaxed, laid back and say to not work that hard), and so to me it' all about the balance, which is what is modernly upheld as work-life balance, so one doesnt ignore the other needs of their body and mental wellbeing which then cascade down to other problems, but what if the work i do is not to validate myself, but really out of overflowing curiosity and pure pursuit of the thing that could help people in the future, be it greater understanding of the world, or say a medical device that helps people in need etc. Afterall, this is only someone knows for themselves, who's to judge if they are really working too hard for the reasons that doesn't pelase God and who's to say they are not working hard enough when work or job they each have is of different nature, for example an accountant vs fine artists
Well, I think there is two kind of categories or realms in which this question might fall. First, there are still believers that fall into the legalism and "works" of the old testament. They think you have to "work hard" to earn or keep salvation, grace and favor from God. This is not biblical at all, as grace and salvation is a gift we receive freely from faith. All we must do is have faith that Jesus accomplished everything on the cross. But the bible also tells us faith without works is dead. When we have a true faith/relationship with God we will desire to love people, share the gospel, tithe etc. (works). When it comes to occupation or job, as believers no matter what our specialty is we should work hard because we are working for the Lord. Now we do agree with you that God doesn't want us working to the point we neglect Him, our families or even caring for ourselves. We are called to work from a place of rest in Him. (this is where your idea of "work life balance" comes in) We work with excellence because we are a representation of Him in all we do.
Amen!
Being pure is important
