Lol, yeah, this guy was such a miserable ***. I would hate to ever have to spend time with someone like him. He’s the most negative RUclipsr I’ve ever seen.
College athletes don't get paid by the team/school, but they can now as of the last couple years make money doing autographs, commercials, etc, which was previously banned. It's also used to questionably funnel money from "boosters" (rich graduates from the school) to essentially pay a highly rated player to pick their school
As a matter of fact, USC themselves lost a few wins and a national championship over Reggie Bush being paid, basically, by his agent. Ironically both getting sponsorships for oneself AND the play that netted them that national championship to begin with are now legal. (I was raised to be a salty Notre Dame fan, don't @ me.)

Yes, there are designated sections in college football stadiums for visiting fans. Typically, the home team gives an allotment of tickets in the visiting section for the visiting team to sell to their fans.
And there are other people who know how to have more fun at a game than that guy… like 99.999% of people lol. It would be depressing spending time with him.
All I know is when the crowd gets pumped: it's a unified experience you can never forget. I don't go to many live games but the ones I do remember have an unforgettable atmosphere.
Lol, I’ve never seen anyone who was such a downer. This guy would be so depressing to spend time with. College football is simply the best sporting experience in the US. And he saw a great game with two top-25 teams. Too bad he didn’t have an American friend to go with. Going by yourself to see a sporting event that you don’t understand is not the best way to experience something new.
Btw that stadium has the Olympic emblem on it because it was there for the Summer Olympics in 1984. The Stadium holds 100,000+ so it isn't often full except for championships etc.
The reason the guy was confused is because he wasn’t aware that it’s being televised and there are commercial breaks and during those commercial breaks they add little things to keep the fans entertained
A lot of the time you can anticipate a touchdown as a fan. A blocked punt is a sudden change in momentum. It can change the trajectory of a game as much as a touchdown.
Exactly! How many of these people come here, see one thing, in a country nearly 3000 miles across, with 1/3 billion people, and decide that's the way things are for all Americans. Not to mention I just can't take his whiny, negative way of talking!
But to be fair, the problem was not with the atmosphere - this guy had the worst attitude of anyone I’ve ever seen. He saw a great college game between top-25 teams, but seemed like he just wanted to complain about… everything.
@@joeterp5615 I'll take your word for it. Lol. Once I saw it was USC and the stadium was maybe half full, I stopped watching. And you said he hated everything? That's like going to the worst fish and chips shop in London, hating it, then making a youtube video about how bad fish and chips is.

There is still the pageantry of college football. Not to mention USC has perhaps the most beautiful cheerleaders in sports lol.
In some states high school football can be a mind blowing. Take the great state of Texas there are some towns that shout down for Friday night football, especially during playoffs.
Yeah, I went to college in a town that LOVED their HS football. One year Halloween was on a Friday night… so they moved it to another night so it wouldn’t conflict with the “Big Red” football game that night.
And just imagine this, this particular game has zero atmosphere compared to a rivalry game in the Big 10, Big 12, ACC or SEC conferences. Literally zero atmosphere.
@The_Beesleys Football season is during fall months (September/October through January/February). Since you are leaning towards visiting in Spring you'll see end of season basketball and begin of season baseball. Thank you for another great reaction!
the native amereican one you are thinking of is the mascot for Florida State U, Chief Osceola. Way better team He should have gone to a SEC game instead way more better teams and more team pride there
When large groups buy tickets together, they will be seated together. The other team bought many tickets so that their fans could travel to the game, and they all were seated together.
If you plan on attending a college game when you visit America, do yourself a favor and watch some highlights of games on RUclips beforehand. Have some semblance of idea for what is going on...unlike the guy in this video who is so hopelessly clueless that he tends to mock what he does not understand. His utter ignorance comes off as unaffectionately "British". I loathe soccer, but I would never go to England and besmirch the fans for getting into a World Cup match. Bottom line, take some time to watch some games (or highlights thereof) on RUclips and learn the nuances of the game.
You get around these dudes, at this level of football, you will see they are some of the biggest human beings you’ve ever been around. No joke, college and professional NFL players are monster humans! It’s impressive how agile some of these guys are. You don’t necessarily think that someone that fat or that big, can move so scary fast. It’s crazy and just the game itself is one of the best sports because it can Dramatically change at any time, in a split second! It’s high drama sometimes and of course the sometimes insane athleticism that makes the highlight reels is great.
That's the thing about College or Pro Ball, it's just a good time for the whole family. You can take little kids and not worry about fights, drunk idiots(you can drink, people just don't act like douches), or things getting out of hand in anyway.(except cost, that is outta hand)
Lol, I always waited until my nephews reached a certain age before taking them to games… as there are often a lot of obnoxious visiting fans and drunks around.
@@Xiphos0311 not at Texan or A&M games! Not even at Oiler games back in the day, I suggest following a better team. The only fight I've ever seen was in high-school and I was involved.
6:22 that is not tailgating. Tailgating is done in the parking lot from cars not from vendors and it’s like a picnic but in the parking lot and it’s private (it’s not a free-for-all).
The tailgate parties can get pretty fun once the people with tickets go into the stadium. You are left to guard the site, the beer, food, and watch the game on the flatscreen with whoever got stranded.
A touchdown isn’t always the biggest play even though it is the main objective for points. For example, if you have the ball on your own end and get a 79 yard pass to get to the opponent 1 yard line, that is a much bigger play than getting the subsequent 1 yard touchdown run. When you get to the opponent 1 yard line it is a 90%+ chance you will score at that point.
A true top notch college game experience would be at Ohio State going to the Horseshoe, also their band is an amazing show or Michigan at the Big House or Alabama at Bryant Denny Stadium, etc..
He went to the wrong game. He needs to experience a Penn State whiteout game with over 100,000 in attendance. Now that is a party. Everyone in white and when you enter the stadium they hand you a white Pom Pom to shake all in unison. There are more tailgating. We had season tickets and every home game we drove our 38 foot RV on Friday for the game on Saturday. Our son was a student there and all his friends would party and eat at the RV, go to the game and come back after the game. We had a great time. Great memories.
I know you guys didn’t say it but if sports isn’t for entertainment then what’s it for. Like no one is solving world problems from the outcome of any game. Am I the only one sitting here thinking their whole life that sports was just a different form of entertainment.
It's not that hard to understand the passion for college football if you just take a minute to figure out that college football has been around longer than NFL and the majority of the cities and a lot of states do not even have an NFL team. But every state has universities that and smaller colleges that play football. And we never thought college players needed to be paid because they got a full scholarship to University that was their salary and their pay. Most of them know they're not going to make it to the NFL only a very small percentage play in the pros. It's only been recently that football players think they need to be paid money or at least be able to earn money for being sponsored by some kind of business. For decades most players were very happy just to have their college or university degree paid for because they played a sport. And when they leave they don't have to go work in the garage because they have a degree. These players don't just go to school play football and go home they are all majoring in something and going to classes they have to pass and graduate just like everybody else. And they get a lot of extra help especially at the major schools. They have tutors. they get all their meals paid for and they get special meals because they're athletes. Now this is not necessarily true of all levels of University athletics but the big Sports the ones that bring in money to the University get treated like they're very special. It used to make us mad when we were in school that athletes got all kinds of help academically that we didn't get we the average student. So don't feel sorry them.
Sorry but High School Sports can be VERY big locally. Watch Friday Night Lights about High school football in Texas. I lived in New Jersey and my local high school wrestling team would have 800 to 1,000 spectators. No one is getting arrested! I honestly feel insulted
@@cortneyrichardson8553 I wouldn’t disagree. I live in South Florida now as I’m retired and St Thomas Aquinas is fabulous football. But , they made the movie about Texas so I gave it a nod. I cringed with this slander of high school sports - we know he’s inferring dirty minds and I DID NOT LIKE IT. I have been to high school games with thousands of spectators.
College football is one of the greatest experiences. It’s honestly one of the very few things that can bring out every emotion possible in me lol. I can see why someone wouldn’t understand it though. Honestly it’s a blast, especially as a die hard fan!
As a USC alumnus and fan (you do NOT need to have attended the school whose team you are a fan of), at first I was happy to see Ellis posting a video of the USC-Washington game though a depressing one from the USC standpoint. I am a fan of his "proper" football (and football shirt) content and was curious to his perspective on college football. But I was quite dissapointed by his confusion, arrogance, and cynicism about the whole experience. I didn't expect him to care about either team or the sport, but his dismissal of the whole affair at the end was off-putting. By the way, while I love attending USC football games both home and away, I will echo the sentiments expressed that the atmosphere is actually far better at other schools in the United States than at SC. My theory is that some of the best football programs in the country - especially the schools in the SEC, Big 10 and Big 12 "conferences" - are in college towns where the university's football/sports program is the biggest thing in the community, and people come from around the region/state to the college towns for game day. It doesn't seem like it would be the case, but universities in or near larger American cities tend not to have as raucous atmospheres. There are a few exceptions. Seattle, the home of USC's opponent in this video, the University of Washington, is known for deafening crowds. Florida State and Ohio State are located in their respective state capitals, Tallahassee and Columbus, which are mid-size cities in their states, but far from the biggest.
I agree with your take. I went to the University of Oregon and despite having a smaller stadium than USC, the atmosphere was quite a bit more intense. Especially games like the Civil War (UO v. Oregon State). I also lived in College Station, Texas for a while and Texas A&M games blow those out of the water, considering they have one of the largest stadiums in the world (100k plus people and was full pretty much every game). A&M is the heart and soul of that town, its literally in the name lol.
There is a home and visitor side. Most of the time, teams will only sell a small portion of tickets to the away team in a specific area of the stadium.
I usually like his videos but he just came into it with such a dismissive attitude. Didn’t talk to anyone around him to try to learn, just complained the whole time. Also USC isn’t the best atmosphere, I know he said “you can go to the 10th division and still get a good atmosphere in England” but that’s simply not true. A shame he didn’t go to a big SEC game.
He saw a great game in an an excellent atmosphere - no, not like a Georgia vs Alabama atmosphere, but still a place where 99.999% of people would have a good time. The problem was him. I don’t think it’s a guarantee that he would enjoy a SEC game, as I suspect he would still find lots of things to complain about.
In college football, there’s usually one or two sections for organized groups of away fans. Anyone else just buys regular tickets and end up scattered throughout. Same with the pros where it’s just a mix.
If y'all wanna go to a college football game, University of Tennesssee, University of Texas, Auburn University or University of Alabama. Any of those four have a fantastic atmosphere. You'll have a blast.
In college they do give the other team a section and a certain percentage of tickets. Usually the other school has to pay for them, then they sell them to their fans. If they can't sell them out they can sell it Back to the home school. For example, Notre Dame is an 80,000 seat stadium with 7,500 section dedicated to the road team. If the other team is on the other side of the country or have a fan base, then the home team can get the tickets back.
I got a lot of stories about going to the Coliseum. Look up videos for the 1984 LA Olympics and you will find a lot of videos of how the inside looked with a track and Olympic Games taking place there. I was there...
Starting this year sponsors can pay college players for NIL (Name, Image, or Likeness). Some players are making millions of dollars. But most players are still not paid.
This makes me want to go to the UK as an American with a group of friends to some random university's football match, tailgate before the game, then cheer the home team on as if they were my favorite Premiere League team.
The marching bands in the colleges and the high schools actually do competitions outside of sports seasons, the cheerleaders do as well. You guys would likely enjoy watching Michelle Khare’s Challenge Accepted videos, specifically the one where she trains as a college cheerleader at, I think it was, Kansas State University. That school has one of the top ranked cheerleading programs in the country.
Yeah this guy is rude and his joke wasn’t funny at all. I’m not football fan but you don’t have be disrespectful to the players on the team calling them middle aged.
That stadium is on the smaller side. Tennessee, Ohio State, Michigan hold over 100,000+. Living in Tennessee the Tennessee Volunteers field Neyland Stadium is an experience with a sea of orange especially during a rivalry game.
@@jeffashley5512 No problem. And I’ll be heading down your way to Tennessee in a couple weeks for a bowl game to see my Maryland Terps play in Nashville. We are small-time in terms of fan base (our stadium gets overrun by Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State fans when they visit - which is miserable if they blow us out) - but it is fun traveling and seeing different places. When I retire I think I’ll take some road trips to places Tennessee, or Bama, or Clemson.
College Football is a combination of students, alumni, residents of the town where the University is, and family tradition. Usually family roots for the same team. 80, 00 isn't big. Many stadiums hold more, and many teams sellout every game. Both teams may bring both cheerleaders and they and depending on budget. College Football Games are an experience, not just a game
With the amount of Americans that watch you, as soon as you give out the dates you will be coming to the US they will clue you in on schedules, best games to watch, etc.
The visiting team always gets a section to sell to their fans in college, sometimes even the band will travel to away games. Visiting fans don’t have to sit in the visitors section however, they can sit wherever they want
Oh, I think next time the Beesley's come back to the States, y'all need to go to an SEC college game...then you will see something amazing! College ball has way more excitement than the pros.
If they wanted to have the best atmosphere like tailgating and the stadium atmosphere in one package should’ve gone to an LSU game. Because lsu is way better than usc
College players do not get paid in the traditional sense of a salary. Most get a scholarship where their college tuition, fees, food, and housing are paid for by the college/university. Some now earn money from corporate sponsors with a new rule that allows them to receive money when sponsors/businesses use the player’s Name, Image, or Likeness (NIL). Many don’t get much money from NIL. Typically only the best players really cash in on that.
By the way, if you ever want to hear USC's marching band in a rock song, listen to Fleetwood Mac's "Tusk." The Disco Purrfection Mix is the best one, if you can find it. The group went to USC, to that stadium (the Los Angeles Coliseum), and had the marching band record an absolutely MASSIVE part that really makes up the bulk of the song's sound. It is INCREDIBLE. You will not regret it!
You can buy tickets anywhere in the stadium where seats are available it doesn't matter which side of the field Great video is always you guys have a blessed day and God bless you all
I don't think the west coast is the best atmosphere for college sports . He needs to check out the SEC and the tailgating tradition throughout that conference . We used to get 5,000 people per game at our high school football games in a small town in Alabama 60 years ago .

We don’t care what anyone thinks about why we love college sports. We just do. There are tons of soccer stadiums that break out in “Sweet Caroline”. What is so strange about them singing YMCA? I hate Leeds just because this guy supports them!! 🤷🏼♂️😂
He seems confused that people are there to have fun and be entertained. Are you okay uk?
Lol, so true! Why would someone so miserable and negative travel and make RUclips videos?? He should just stay in his UK flat and watch soccer on the tele.
@@joeterp5615 ….and eat beans on toast. Yuk! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@katw3070 lol, indeed! That’s a combo I’ve only heard of recently… and I don’t get it either!! Can’t the great British empire that once conquered the world come up with something better than that! (Now if you added a hotdog and onions and mustard to it, then you might have something! 😉)
I am extraordinarily unimpressed with this person. Hoping it’s the last video of his that you do.
They've been doing several of these whiny, arrogant, America bashing Europeans. I guess they think it's humorous but I find it irritating and not at all funny!
that bloke acts like someone peed in his kidney pie.
Yes, there are designated sections in college football stadiums for visiting fans. Typically, the home team gives an allotment of tickets in the visiting section for the visiting team to sell to their fans.
FYI, there are other team/stadiums with much more atmosphere than USC.
And there are other people who know how to have more fun at a game than that guy… like 99.999% of people lol. It would be depressing spending time with him.
@@joeterp5615 Ho, yea! Definitely.
This guy doesn't seem to have much fun at anything. Kind of a real stick in the mud.
It's been a long time. Idk why I stopped watching you guys. But congrats on becoming parents!
All I know is when the crowd gets pumped: it's a unified experience you can never forget. I don't go to many live games but the ones I do remember have an unforgettable atmosphere.
Such a shame he went into it with such a negative attitude. He is giving it zero respect. If he did not enjoy it, then it is on him.
He doesn't know the history and not well knowing of how awesome honorable everything is.
Btw that stadium has the Olympic emblem on it because it was there for the Summer Olympics in 1984. The Stadium holds 100,000+ so it isn't often full except for championships etc.
It was built in 1921 and was also the site of the 1932 Summer Olympic Games.
The guy is so negative! It's really hard to listen to him just whine the whole time!
Or an interception that comes out of nowhere…
He didn’t talk with anyone and he went to a college that their fans don’t do pregame event so he prejudged all other colleges as the same
Exactly! How many of these people come here, see one thing, in a country nearly 3000 miles across, with 1/3 billion people, and decide that's the way things are for all Americans. Not to mention I just can't take his whiny, negative way of talking!
He saw a great game with 2 top-25 teams - the problem was not with the game or atmosphere, it was with his shockingly crappy attitude.
Lol going to Southern California to "experience" American college football lolololol. Go to the South (SEC) or the Midwest (Big 10).
@@borisbalkan707 it wasn’t a sell out… but it was at 93% capacity, 72,243. Yeah, I just checked lol. Still, even if not the best of the best college football environments (like the best of the SEC and Big10) - I’d still take that over any MLB, NFL or NBA environment personally. There is still the pageantry of college football. Not to mention USC has perhaps the most beautiful cheerleaders in sports lol.
He had great seats too and didn’t appreciate them. How sad
Yes the away Team also brings their Cheer leaders And if they make it to a bowl game They also bring their band
Way better team He should have gone to a SEC game instead way more better teams and more team pride there
Yeah. The one you saw was the mascot. Of the Trojans. It was a Trojan soldier on a horse.
This was a close game between 2 top-25 teams. The environment seemed really good - this guy just has a crappy disposition.
@@joeterp5615 he’s a typical nasty piece of work.
Very very well said!! 👏 I could not agree more!
This guy is wrong on so many levels
Here in the US. We even turn out for Junior High School and High School football.
They don’t get paid for playing the sport. The get Name image and likeness deals. They make money through sponsorships
I'm not sure what psudo-1950's game your attending but in real life there are drunk idiots and fights.
He didn't see the tailgate parties. what he thought was tailgating were vendors.
Complaining Complaining Complaining Complaining that the Brit's. Could it be jealousy.
7:34 I feel sorry for this kid. It seems he peaked at conception.
He should’ve gone to a SEC game. Southern Cal doesn’t get as good as crowds
The one with chief Osceola is ...FLORIDA STATE SEMINOLES
Sorry but High School Sports can be VERY big locally. Watch Friday Night Lights about High school football in Texas. I lived in New Jersey and my local high school wrestling team would have 800 to 1,000 spectators. No one is getting arrested! I honestly feel insulted
If you wanna watch good high school football games go to SoCal and watch Mater Dei or Bosco!!
Dude went to california and expected to find committed college fans lmao. Gotta go to the south or midwest to find the best atmospheres.
Woohoo! Go Huskies! That's my team right there. Have been watching them since the early 80's.
In the SEC, visiting teams get 11,000 seats to sell. They are always the worst seats.
The blimp was shooting overhead film footage of the game.
College football has more fans than the NFL.the schools are everywhere. All the state colleges have 2 to 5 campuses with teams
College football is one of the greatest experiences. It’s honestly one of the very few things that can bring out every emotion possible in me lol. I can see why someone wouldn’t understand it though. Honestly it’s a blast, especially as a die hard fan!
The USC mascot is a Trojan Warrior, not native American. His horse Is "Traveler".
That was a trojan riding the horse. The Native American on the horse is from Florida State.
The mascot on the horse is not a native american. He is a Trojan soldier (ancient Troy).
Go Huskies!
It's LA the fans are notorious for showing up late and leaving early becasue the traffic is soul crushing.
There is a home and visitor side. Most of the time, teams will only sell a small portion of tickets to the away team in a specific area of the stadium.
He should have gone to an SEC game. Roll Tide!
He sounds envious of US sports.
I'm disappointed that he seems to be the most negative person. He constantly complains or says something negative and not just on this video.
Understanding the game is half the battle.
It’s not one of the very biggest… but still, it’s not small. USC stadium ranks #19 in capacity of all college football.
@@joeterp5615 I worded that poorly. I agree it's not small by any means.

They had break for the tv broadcast to go into commercials-thus, the pauses.
He showed very little of the actual game and just complained. Not entertaining
Oh, I think next time the Beesley's come back to the States, y'all need to go to an SEC college game...then you will see something amazing! College ball has way more excitement than the pros.
If you can make it go to an SEC game. You'll love the experience, and the tailgating is second to none in those games.
If they wanted to have the best atmosphere like tailgating and the stadium atmosphere in one package should’ve gone to an LSU game. Because lsu is way better than usc
You can't expect to experience real U.S. by going to California
In the 1970s, my family had USC season tickets, allowing me to see dozens of games from about 100 feet to the right of this guy's seat.
