Listening to Greenwood, Horgan and Payne is so satisfying. This is the podcast I want to watch, it is warm and intelligent with no abrassiveness or any need to show off.
@@morganthedruid1this! No one desperate to get a dig in or fishing for the next tick tock bit. Just intelligent rugby men sitting down, reminiscing and chewing the fat. More of this content please.
Will Greenwood is like the guy in school who was popular and friendly with the teachers, the Jocks, the tough kids and the nerds :) Always comes across as a very genuine guy.
Will Greenwood always has insightful things to say and with his copious notes he is clearly conscientious about being prepared. As his father was a coach, maybe he gets it from him.
The 1973 match was huge, during the horrific Troubles, Wales & Scotland decline to travel, England come to Lansdowne Road despite all the terrorist threats and run out to a standing ovation from the crowd. Incredible historic moment.
England, Irelands greatest rugby friend and ally. Showed up in 1973, and was the only one of the home nations to vote for us in our world cup bud for 2023. Shouldn't be forgotten. Really looking forward to the weekends game. 🇮🇪
@tjobrien8436 I always think this is what makes Rugby great! Ireland have been building something special for a while and have been playing superb rugby off the back of it which has been supremely exciting to watch. We (England) may have won on Saturday, but it was a tight match and save for the bounce of the ball, or a different decision being made, Ireland could have won the game. Can't wait to see how you do in South Africa, the two best teams in the world facing off for a test match series is a tasty prospect indeed! I can only see great things happening for such an awesome team with such great fans! See you at Lansdown next year! 🍀🌹
This chat was a level above what is normally offered by GBR. More intelligent and nuanced debate such as that offered by Messrs Greenwood and Horgan. No unnecessary interruptions and searching for the sound bite. Bravo! 👏🏼
Absolutely loved this one. Good mix of proper informed rugby talk and a bit of banter. Hate to say it, but these two took the pod on another level. Nice having a non Englishman as well for balance. As for the weekend, if England pull it out the bag I’ll be a happy fan. Unfortunately it’s very difficult to see past a convincing Ireland win. I’ll take a good England performance at the moment to be fair 😂.
loving this - Will and Shane are talking about the skills of space, time, and timing. If players lack these skills they can't play what is in front of them. But, overtraining the technical, speed, and strength skills lowers space, time, and timing skills. Skills mastery needs both sets of skills. They need to be coached separately.
People in GB don't realise how special the Croke park game was to Irish people, it showed how mature a nation we had become to welcome the old enemy onto sacred ground for us as a nation. What a game!
People do not understand that Britain is a Union. It has only existed since 1707 when they occupied England & Scotland. England has been an Independent Nation for over a Thousand Years. Under British Rule. We are not even allowed to sing our own National Anthem before matches! Unlike England Cricket Team!
Completely agree with majority of comments. Take note, it’s time to freshen up the experts! Content, humour but essentially the rugby knowledge was at a different level.
Greenwood talks so much sense, hope others are listening. Why the hell do England Rugby ignore so much talent. Not one of the 2003 world cup winners are in the inner circle.
@@ianburton9030 Size is all well and good it's what you do with it. Martin is super abrasive, you will see him manhandle the naturally larger locks over the next few years 100%. He goes out on seek and destroy missions.
Will Greenwood talked a huge amount of sense. The big problem with building your plan around data from last weeks match is the opposition have the same data and know exactly how you are going to play in advance, insanity. This makes it very easy for the opposition. Get the team to play what is in front of them and ask questions of the opposition.
I hate to say this but Greenwood and Horgan are so much better than the whole English panel of Tindall and Haskell are - they offer better insight and a balance to the show. 🫣
Shaggy"s 40 mins against Lomu Landsdowne Rd is one of my fave defensive performances of all time. Sadly, he was injured for the 2nd half and NZ took control. It was a case of 'what if' for many years, as the Irish team and crowd did feed off the battle between Lomu and Shaggy
I was devastated when Ireland got knocked out of the WC, can't imagine how the players felt, but I saw Mack Hansen in his no nonsense Aussie slang say ' we are just going to go out and win the 6 nations' thought that was fantastic but then realised we had no experienced 10 and panicked a bit. Can't wait for Hansen to come back into the team, should be 5here for the July tour to SA.
40 Year Old FUQ Boys (Maybe 40 something Year Old) The Boys are back in Town with great fun and great points. Two naturals in rugby and entertainment. Like the way Will Greenwood is calling his dad 'My Old Man' these 2 real gentlemen to be proud of was great idea to get them both on for weekend coming up.
Twickenham is the Goodison Park of Rugby. The home crowd can be ferocious to visitors but it can turn against their own team if England aren't performing well.
As an Englishman always have a soft spot for Will Greenwood, especially because he was so gracious in letting my Wife take a picture with him in a busy pub in Putney back in the day :) Shane Horgan - who I loathed as a fan because he seemed to play so well against us - is absolute class. Really insightful analysis when on tv - it's a shame we don't see / hear more from him in UK? - and unsurprisingly a joy to listen to here on GBR. Definitely one of the Irishmen I'd like to have a beer with one day.
Rugby IQ is top. These conversations need to happen. It’s not about quick conclusions it’s about how are England selecting and on what basis. Rip this up. Rugby is a collision speed skills sport. Find ways to improve in these areas step one. Build on that… cherish it and discard those that cannot challenge the best physically / speed wise
I agree with Horgan when he mentioned our best rugby being played in the WC with Farrell at 12 and Ford at 10. Obviously we can't and shouldn't go back to that... but having a centre partnership doesn't HAVE to revolve around a big basher at 12 and a lighter footballer at 13. The future, in my opinion, is Ojomoh at 12 and Lawrence/Joseph at 13. Ojomoh is powerful, fast and has AMAZING hands, Lawrence gives us the power and ability in the outside channels that he displays for Bath week on week... put Feyi-Waboso on one wing and Freeman on the other. Then we have the pace and defensive nous to put someone like Steward at the back.
I have not watched this podcast for a while, preferring the Aussie boys (the former GBRA, what happened there?) for the banter. The two Shaggy's though are a great team with the posh lad, definitely get my vote for more of this.

We need to get out of the gates early and lay down a marker early on Saturday.
This could be peter o mahony 's last six nations in Twickenham and as captain I just cannot see the irish lineout malfunctioning and that's where this game will be won or lost , Ireland played well against France and were okay against Italy and Wales, they need to up their performance on Saturday, I think Farrell has a fully fit squad to pick from which is encouraging 👍
Great chat between all 3. Don't agree at all though with Shane Horgans take 27 minutes in on Johnny Sextons post-retirement statement "we lost but we won".
