She actually seems like a reasonable person, just young and has been mislead. She has her own thoughts just is not confident enough to follow them when everyone around her is telling her it is wrong to think that way. This ideology is fighting her own natural thoughts. "for me it isn't" But she has been told other wise. She knows its a "disagreement" but has been told its "discrimination". When I see Q&A like these often im left with thinking that person is insane. Here I'm thinking she is on her way to be red pilled.

Just because she behaved normally doesn't mean she deserves to be applauded for it for god sake.
She just brought up stupid questions because she's been brainwashed by leftists and wokism.

Phobia literally means fear. Using phobia to mean "disagreement" is another attack on language

    • @dirtdiv3r
      @dirtdiv3r 2 года назад +34

@Finnegan Hark It seems to me to be impractical and illogical to use a word that refers to extreme behaviorisms and apply it broad stroke to anything you have an aversion to. You may have an aversion to cleaning, it doesn't make you irrationally afraid of cleaning. It is important to use words in their correct context because two things occur when you speak in hyperbole as if it were literal...
      1. The meaning of the extreme word you pawn off as hyperbole but apply literally loses it's meaning and it's weight. I.e., when everybody is called racist, 'racism' no longer has the gravitas it used to have because it becomes this super subjective terminology.
      2. You are simply not portraying the appropriate idea with accuracy. I have a boxer... if my boxer is bigger than most boxers, maybe I call her a Great Dane to everybody. "This is Lilly, my Great Dane". I mean it hyperbolically to relate my opinion of her size to others... but I say it with so much frequency and seriousness, now all my neighbors think she's a Great Dane. Except she's not and she never will be.
When you call everybody "homophobic" or "transphobic" because of moral or cultural stances, you completely misrepresent their perspective and seek to diminish and shame them using extremist language that you can later shrug off as "it was only a colloquial definition".

    • @andrewr4541
      @andrewr4541 2 года назад +1

StonerSnek, I agree 100%, phobia is an irrational fear of something that on its face is basically harmless if controlled. claustrophobia is the irrational fear of closed spaces, while closed spaces came be dangerous under extreme spaces, properly managed they usually are not. Transphobia is such a misconstuction of language, it matches well in hand all the rest of the lies so widely circulated, I.E. : gay, assault weapons, planned parenthood, gentelmans clubs, exotic dancing, having an affair, jim crow, women's equality, defund the police. All massive language abuses to justify agendas

This was a civil discussion. You have to give this girl credit. She lives in a generation that is being morally ripped apart. At no point did I see her represent her generation in any form or fashion. She took notes, documented questions, took those questions to the mic and respectfully debated his response. This is how it should be done. The one thing we don't know though is what kind of opinion she walked away with.
The one thing that really needs to be pointed out is that Shapiro has oodles of experiencing in this kind of environment. This young lady held her ground, and in my opinion, can walk away with her head held high. She did a great job!

There is what seems to be a growing fear in this world not just in the U.S. that is making people get very defensive and intolerant of other's opinions. Everything is becoming political and polarized.
So yeah this young lady was cool and collected. To me she seemed to be saying "I don't believe all this crap either but I don't want these people hurt". It's coming from a place of empathy. Something that is also increasingly lacking.

Yeah I agree. I think the main problem is emotions, we all have them but we weren’t all taught how to properly control them. When someone disagrees, to some it can be taken as this person doesn’t like me or what I stand for and they are okay with doing harm against me. But it should be I am standing for the cause and I have my reason and u stand against and have your reason. If both parties truly believe they’re right they should be able to explain and make sense of it to the person they’re speaking to. With the right amount of facts and back up, the point that makes the most sense is true and I think the other person has the choice of yielding to the opposing view since it is more supported or they can choose to stick with their own stance (personally think that’s ignorant but it’s part of our freedom none the less). If we’re seeking truth I belive we’ll eventually find it. But I think it exposes the fact that a lot of us don’t actively seek truth but this new “our truth” that is really their own opinion or desire.

I believe her assertion is that we can't disagree without " inciting " violence. The problem with her position is that she ignores history. There have always been those who disagree, many can do so reasonably, some cannot. Why would the issue of " transphobia " be any different?
Ben nails the issue. People that suffer from a psychological disorder aren't well served by simply playing along with the disorder. We don't do it for pyromaniacs, sexual sadists, agoraphobes, etc. Of course, trans types aren't necessarily violent, but they are delusional. Simply entertaining their inability to recognize who they are doesn't address the issue.
I don't care that someone " identifies " as something, but they don't have the right to insist that I play along. If I want to identify as a pony, I will find people that are willing to allow for that, my insisting that everyone believe that I'm a pony is ridiculous and an imposition on that which they recognize is my problem, not theirs.

If Kid B wasn't playing, they simply told Kid A that they're not playing, and then they both ran off and had fun. Now Kid A runs crying "hate crime" to the teacher, tries to turn the whole school against Kid B, and wants them kicked out of school for being freeze-tag-phobic.

And this is their main problem: when you tell them that you disagree with them, but they are free to live their lives as they wish...they can't accept it. They need the issue(s) to keep their movement moving and cohesive. The Movement needs an enemy, opposition, to justify its existence. When you tell them to be free and leave you alone, they need to move the boundary to violate the rights of others, to create resistance. You just saw a great example. If someone doesn't agree with them, that's violence and they are justified in whatever they do in return - moving the boundary - forcing others to participate in their lifestyle. But that means they (read lgbtq+ community) doesn't have anything left to fight for other then discuss some details.
Losing your purpose is something the mind can't really handle and fighting all your life for certain rights makes it hard to get back to normal daily life.
Also I think they fight for "their rights" so hard now, that people start getting annoyed and are now like "could you please stop this bs, its annoying now and I don't want it".

    • @Controvi

@@Joie_totheworld My comment was more a global statement.
I know damn well that the world is no black and white.
there is nowhere in the world that things are perfect.
But just like feminism, the push to get accepted has and adverse effect.
For clarity, I agree fully with Ben here. I too have no problem with people expressing themselves however they want and when I talk to anyone, I will always do so respectfully or at at whatever way is appropriate at that moment.
But people don't want to be forced into doing anything.
And forcing a society into doing something for a small group of people will get you a lot of pushback.
Social norms and constructs don't change from one day to the next.
      Those things go slow.
Human nature is to hold on the stable factors and things we know.
Forcing something they don't know unto them will create distrust, irritation and hate.
And what happens then? those people resisting get called homophobic, bigots and what more.
I know there are A LOT of trans people out there that don't want to force society into anything and just walking the street as a woman and being seen as one is enough for them. And to me that is the perfect way to go through life.
But the whole movements that protest every single thing that isn't in line with what the "community" wants is not helping anyone.
All that hate going on always reminds me of the story Dave Chapel told about the transwoman comedian he met.
That is a story that already shows how idiotic the movement to get accept is by the extreme people in the trans group.
If we could all slow down and stop the forcing of things and just ease people into the fact that , and this probably won't sit well with some, a mental issue like Gender Dysphoria has a certain "solution" in the name of gender reassignment surgery, then that will be accepted eventually.
But not within 5 to 10 years.

    Three things:
    1. This young lady, and others, think that people cannot control themselves and certain words can trigger them to commit violence. She, and others who think like her, apparently do not believe in personal responsibility. The Left uses this assertion to shut others up that they do not agree with.
    2. She doesn't know the meaning of the word phobia (and she is not alone). "Phobia" means "fear of." To say someone is "transphobic" is to literally say the person is afraid of trans people. Some people may actually be afraid, but in most cases people simply do not agree with the trans concept. Words are constantly being misused. You can't have meaningful conversation when people misuse words and assign new meaning to words.
    3. She thinks good research is "googling" something. I don't know if she literally uses Google or another search engine, but does she not realize that Google and other search engines (maybe not all) have built in biases (they use logarithms that are not neutral) ? Are they not teaching kids these days how to do proper research? She thinks because she read something on the world wide web that it is authoritative.

We need to have more of these conversations blasted across social media platforms to showcase the fact that though we disagree on things, that doesnt mean we cant respect one another and the life perspective we each have.

disagreement is NOT the same as discrimination! disagreement is NOT hate! see thats where the left tries, but gets it wrong every time, they equate disagreement with all kinds of crap!!

They just like to demonize people because that's an easy way to dismiss their arguments. They especially love to do it with things that are largely indefensible like T sports. If you say "I think T people in women's sports is pretty unfair" they instantly call you a phobe and to them that's the end of conversation.

It's so awful that we live in a society that wants to INCITE indifference just because it's the IN thing. Ben Shapiro has some great values and beliefs. In my OPINION, if you feel anything he says incites violence, then you are someone just looking for an excuse and a finger to point at instead of looking at the person in the mirror and saying yeah this could be the problem

Hers the difference between liberals and conservatives in a nut shell.
A conservative, in general, will disagree based on facts.
A liberal, again in general, based
    Theirs on feelings. “I feel….”

No, neither side is based entirely on facts nowadays. Censorship and confirmation bias is heavily present on both sides of the political spectrum.

Her view of "inciting violence" is akin to criticizing a murder victim for inciting violence by refusing to be robbed, and was shot as a result.

You fanatical right-wingers (are there any other?) are always the victim. Always. Does it ever occur to you that you're being controlled by your emotional weakness? Of course not. Otherwise you wouldn't be a Fascist maniac.

Ben Shapiro only incites self defense. The left considers violence and lying as valid methods for achieving their goals.
