@@robertriesshozerlover4 You'd be forgiven for thinking that as from the 90's onwards it was red and white all the way but in the 80's Honda was all about the blue highlights. Haha dont worry its only that clean as its brand new at the moment just wait until a little later in the series i can guarantee it will be all oily and beaten up haha. Nice to hear from you again :)
This is one of the highest quality rebuild channels on youtube. Your production standards keep improving and I'm sure your subscribers and supporters will increase as word gets out. Thanks again for all the hard work. 👍🇦🇺
It takes some serious confidence in your knowledge and skill to be able to carry off some of this work, for instance laying into those fork sliders with a file, but the results speak for themselves. Outstanding.
Thank you, glad you enjoy my work :) Haha yeah I should have said in the video as a warning incase anyone thinks its easy but if your not competent with file don't go anywhere near your fork sliders.. your gonna have a bad time! haha
Little trick if your fork tube takes more then 3 cracks to break free then heat up the outside tube a bit to help loosen up the bushing thats being stubborn it works everytime and with bushing that aren't in bad shape you can then reuse them, banging then a lot of times and hard can damage the ends of the bushings.
Loving the file action. I can remember being taught how to file with a roll action in Metalwork Class at Secondary school. Back in the day we were taught everything from how to mark out and scribe, how to draw and read Technical drawings how to use hand tools and then if you were good enough, move onto Lathe work and milling. I feel that so much has been lost in this "digital" age. Keep up the good work Bud.
There are restorations, and then there are your restorations! Likewise, there are videos of folks working on stuff and then there are your excellent productions. I am in awe of your work and results. And I now want a vapor blaster!
I've been binge watching these videos and loving them. On a side note if you fill your syringe past way past the mark you need then push out the excess that way you are guaranteed to get the correct amount with no air in the syringe.
That left leg came apart way easier than the right. I dont know why you didnt click your fingers for that one too. Thats a gift you got there my friend
Seeing you crank down on the vise holding the fork tube with only a rag between it and those serrated jaws really made me wince. You're guaranteed to have deformation in the tube while holding a round tube with flat jaws. A machined 2 piece fork tube clamp in the vise is the correct tool for holding fork stanchion tubes. The diameter in the tooling insures even clamping pressure across the whole diameter of the tube.
Fantastic work as always! Small tech tip. I would always lose sin, not remove, all the nuts and bolts on the fork to while it was still installed on the bike. Much easier than then when it’s in the vice. Sometimes if somebody has worked on the bike before you and over tighten these things it can be a problem. Fantastic channel. You make the rest of us look like amateurs😁👍
At this point I shouldn’t be surprised at the end result, I’ve seen pretty much all of your restorations BUT even so, I’m in awe at finish! OEM plus! Crack on, let’s see it on two wheels.
I've raced with Honda Cr's from 1985 to 1993 (then switched to Suzuki and Kawa) and this was one of the best looking bike ever. You are doing a fantastic job. Can't wait to see it finished. A lot of good time with this bike. Love to see you are keeping her stock. I'm curious to see the engine video. Keep an eye to the water pump assembly because it was usually a mess of corrosion after a few years if the owner used the wrong coolant or worse only water. Usually the pump cover is carved by corrosion so keep an eye.
Thank you very much, im glad you approve of my restoration since you have so much experience with them:) Dont worry i know all about the water pump and casing issues and yup mines is a mess haha
Every video is a masterclass on how to do restorations properly and how to light, film and edit them. Unbelievable skills all round! Great work! Can wait for the next episode!
Hi. I've been watching your videos for a wee while now and I love your attention to detail and how vigilant you are on restoring your projects to their original state. Awe inspiring stuff. Just signed up to the Patreon channel as I want to see many more projects come to life. Keep up the great work and content.
Hi I’ve only just subscribed…I’m ian from Dunoon…there are lots of restoration shows on here as you know…but the in depth no nonsense style that you have is second to none..thank you for taking the time and effort that goes in to all of this… 1999 sv 650 project… What I’m doing now… If possible in the future I would love to see a Honda cr 125 Elsinore build…the first bike I fell in love with at 13 years old ..victor devine great western road Glasgow…thanks again…
Thank you very much, Quiet a pricey bit of kit but well worth the investment if you are working with a lot of alloy parts as I am with all these Hondas and Ducati's lol
I remember seeing these bikes when I was a kid. Really humbles you to see what they considered "tech" back then. But that was top of the line! I am sure the bike "tech" nowadays will seem hilariously obsolete in 30 years too. Progress!!! Great vid as always!
Mate, your mechanical skills are amazing as you knowledge and experience much be decades is the making. Also much appreciate your videography, the amount of different shots, style and cuts you use to explain something clearly or make a joke are very impressive, an absolute joy to watch, many thanks
Hi …… another great methodical restoration 👍 When it comes to dressing the forks or any other gouged ferrous & non-ferrous metals you should try dressing the gouges with a small ball-pein hammer, this retains some of the original metal by dressing it back into the gouge then draw filing to finish, I use these methods on my vintage air rifle restorations, it works especially well on Chewed up slotted screw heads just leaving you to redress the slot, keep up the fantastic work with the videos 👍
As I just did this to my 90 DR-350 a week ago, I was shocked to see these forks are dead-nuts the same externally! I didn't get the ''good stuff'' inside like the CR though!
I do like your alternative method of cleaning up the bottom tubes of the forks. One thing you should do is reapply the clear coat Honda used on the 70’s-80’s bikes and 3 wheelers. You can see the yellow film on the lower tubes. That’s the clear they used and it’s deteriorating. I have rebuilt dozens of Honda bikes, quads and 3 wheelers over the years. The forks are one of the most critical things of a rebuild IMO. They show the most so they need to be done right. I have rebuilt a ton of forks and now I send them to a guy here in the states because he gets that exact lathe finish back in the lower tube. It’s super hard to get that lathing pattern. Idk how he does it but I’ve sent him some bad dinged up tubes all yellowed from the clear deteriorating and they come back looking perfect. Yours came out great. If you could figure out that lathe pattern you’d be spot on lol.
I tend not to bother with a clear coat again for stuff like this, I like to use an aerospace product called acf50 developed by Lear of the Learjet so you know its good they use it for corrosion protection on planes so you know its good, wipe it on and your alloy wont oxidize just reapply one a year and your golden. it doesn't wash or wear off either unless you use some very harsh solvents ;)
The voice of my inner OCD is now hoarse from silently screaming "Re-plate the axle clamp fixing studs ...... please!" for the entirety of the video 😂 Great work chap 👍
I was laughing when you said youd pretty the seals up... then when you painted them I got anxious... Then when you went to fit them I was sweating... Good joke mate haha, amazingly gorgeous finish, that vapour blaster makes a world of difference!!! Helps when the operator knows what they're doing too!!!
I dont care much for bikes, but yout restorations are just out of this world. Made so clean and so well done. Did i also notice a gc8 in the background?
i was just thinking how meticulous (think thats spelled right ) you were when you put back in the old rubber dust caps and i said wtf no way .... ya you had me lol
Dont forget to check out the rear mono-shock restoration if you missed it - ruclips.net/video/tcqPqcoq8YQ/видео.html

Your attention to detail is impeccable. As always looks better than store-bought new.

日本からこんにちは。
hello. I am from japan.
あなたのような素敵な方にレストアされて単車も喜んでいると思います。
Love the privacy you keep, it's a breath of fresh air in the social media world!
I watch with English subtitles. It helps greatly as I am learning that ancient Celtic language - Scots.
Enjoy :)
OMG the decals loving this playlist
I was quite shocked to see how good those legs turned out. Love it.
Thank you :)
We hadn't seen a good gag in a few videos. Nice touch with the spay paint job on the bottom seals! Excellent work as always.

The work and time you put into this stuff is amazing. Can’t wait to see the cr250 all finished!
You and me both! :)
I think it will be so amazingly done that Honda will send a note wanting it for their Museum collection :)
"As good as new"? Well I think: way better than new! Absolutely perfect. Even the decals you make make your own!

When I saw those ragged old seals going in I thought "Aye, he's a Jock alright!" You had me there, lad!
Vapor Blastor. I knew it would be coming. Does a great job and saves you lots of time. Great Job.
Mate best resto channel out. Hat's off to you sir. Nothing is ever butchered to make it work. Skills are above and beyond.
Glad you enjoy it! :)
21:04 I said, you've got to be kidding...but then again I know you by now, you would not put those worn dust seals on. You are the man,

You son of... Never fails. You always get me. I thought no way is he painting those dust seals. The lower fork sliders turned out amazing. Well done.
Glad you fell for my little joke ;) haha

Fantastic channel well worthy of the subscription amazing attention to detail and never on any video dragged out content for the sake of it..
Seeing an update to this build made my day!

What amazes me is
1 your work quality
2 oem parts still avail 35 years after
3 showa forks internals looks similar to 2000 era upside down ones
The finish on the metal is beautiful. Really like the blue covers too.
I am beyond jealous of your shop, and your skills
I am absolutely loving this series, you could not have picked a more iconic bike, that model was the darling of it's era. Cheers lad!
Thank you so much :)
The finish on those fork lowers is superb, and as you say better than factory, great work 👍👍👍👍
Thank you very much :)
The jig was already up when you drowned those dust boots in spray paint, but still cracked me up :)
Always an awesome rebuild. I like how you try to make everything look new rather than just saying “good enough.”
Thank you, Glad you like my work ethic :)
You consistently put out quality content. Thank you for the videos!
Work of art! That vapor blasting cabinet is such a nice tool!
Thank you very much, Quiet a pricey bit of kit but well worth the investment if you are working with a lot of alloy parts as I am with all these Hondas and Ducati's lol
20:40 Nice touch man.
Underrated, and always delivering excellence. I enjoy everything from your humor to your workflow. You are a gem, thank you.
Thank you so much for your kind comment :)
Ah yess.... Just in time right before my bedtime... Perfect...
You had me with the dust shields there!
Another 10-star outcome! Thank you for the in-depth video.
Thanks for another episode getting those forks done, looking forward to the next one.
Haha almost got me there with the bottom seals! Tidy up ey! 😆

It's coming along nicely. I'm looking forward to your finished product.
Beautiful work. Can't believe how well those fork sliders came out after the hand filing and vapour blasting.!
Thank you very much! :)
It was like watching Delboy's Garage when you sprayed the adjuster caps!! 🤣😂
Haha love it :)
So, magic IS real. Fantastic job again!
Totally got me when you just spray painted the old seals. I was like "no way..guess he couldnt find new ones but at least clean them!" lol
Haha glad you fell for my little joke ;)
Such beautiful. Always look forward to watching your projects!
Bloody excellent as usual. Definitely one of my favourite RUclips channels 👍
I'm always fascinated by your content. I wish I had the patience or attention to detail that you do!

Great comment and so true, you don't actually think of it like that until someone points out that that was the pinnacle of MX tech in 86.
I had one back in the day. And honestly if you aren't competitive and just want to go out and play around this is still a great bike.
That vapor blaster does amazing job. Great episode again! Maximum respect!
Excellent!!👍👍, Your attention to detail is outstanding.

That's a great tip thanks for that ill be sure to do a bit of experimenting with that technique :)
You are a legend. This is restoration at its best.
Lovely piece of restoration there. Sure it will compliment the rest of the build exquisitely. Warm regards.
Im already excited for your next project and this one is not even finishen haha... I love your channel
Thank you so much! :)
It’s great you have 500k subs. Despite being quite unassuming, it’s a very interesting and well put together show...
Thank you very much :)
Wonder when the red tool cabinet gets a makeover. 😄
Shocks look brand new. Great video as always.
BLOODY GOOD YOU ARE, MY YOU TUBE FRIEND. THANKS.
Those front forks look the business. Another cracking job!
Thank you :)

Those Clymer manuals are fantastic, I have one for my CR
Well done. Scratch repair a real process and many hours.
Watching you work your magic is simply mesmerizing!!
Thank you so much 😀
Okay, the previous video was a liitle shocking, but now I am deeply in shock. If I ever consider rebranding I would like to be Your assistant! Cheers!
