He described it correctly: it is an EARNINGS gap NOT a pay gap. There’s a big difference. Please correct the title of this video. You are reinforcing a stereotype.

I worked 40 hour shifts in a -40c freezer lifting 50 kilo blocks to keep warm. I worked 18 hour shifts on line boat for three months straight. It is dangerous hard work, and now I have allot of injuries to prove it. I don't think mean are better than woman. But no way a normal woman could do any of these jobs. The Nobel prize has become a joke. Makes me ashamed to be Norwegian.

It is illegal to pay a male and female different pay for the same job. There is no gender pay gap. Different wages being paid to people who do different jobs is not a gender pay gap. Are people advocating that all jobs from street sweeper to brain surgeon should all be paid the same. Using gender pay gap logic yes they are.

And in the countries with poor workers protections it is indeed women who are the most exploited with poorly paid labour, like garment workers in Bangladesh who are overwhelmingly women. Likewise the historic and still prevalent misogyny in the public sphere - there are plenty of companies and cultures that specifically exclude women due to social, religious and negative stereotypes, like Japan for example.
Is it seriously news to you that people, employers, and economic actors are not perfectly economically rational actors but indeed behave in irrational, biased ways?

@@herekitty791 Nope, not even that age group. Int he US even the mean salary for 18yo women is 11% less than that of the salary for 18yo men. And that gap only increases with age.
And even if it was due to children, then countries with equalized paternity/maternity leave should fare better no? But the pay gap remains there too.

Yes, women have been suppressed and had their works stolen for the entire history of humanity.
And I always thought that everybody with an idea can go to the patent office and register whatever he wanted (within certain restrictions).
There are millions of patents out there who don't even get the money back from the registration

Tackling the elephant in the room. My profession has been taken over by women . I employed women in this occupation. On average a woman produced about One Tenth of the work of a male. This is changing in that the new generation produce much less work. They are slow, inefficient and not innovative. Still all the innovation came from the males. What the women were very good at was wasting company time, taking 5x time to complete a task, finding ways to avoid work , taking huge amount of time ( for more reasons than I can count) off , coming in late, going home early and complaining. How is it being taken over by women?? For decades 50-75 % of graduates are women. The males get burned out by shouldering the responsibility and work load. They are leaving and it is chaos.
