  • Here we come to see a Range Rover with DPF issues.
    he was told by the Land Rover dealership and other garages there was no way to clean or regenerate his Diesel Particulate Filter & a brand new unit was the only option.
    being a lease vehicle he did not want to spend Thousands as its at the end of lease

    Love how the ECM's let the DPF get that full so that customers are required to replace them at thousands of dollars out of pocket. DPF's should be doing regen's throughout their lifespan...and even though the provide NO benefit to the environment...we all have to keep them and make dealerships rich. Until someone like you comes along that knows better...good video!

      What diesel with a particulate filter doesn't auto regen? They won't do it if you frive like a pansey on city streets. Take it out to the highway and fucking drive the damn thing.

      When the dpf does a regen, I believe the temperature climbs to a blistering temperature that burns harmful chemicals into less harmful chemicals. Still pollutes, but it does help.

      @@hankschwiebert1457 That what the catalytic converter does.. the DPF is for trapping soot, which doesnt go into the atmosphere..it's just carbon that falls to the ground. it's completely useless....even the catalytic converter and EGR system is useless with a GOOD TUNE.

      @@JeremiahHartmanPhotography DPFs go through regeneration too. The soot can be burned off. Eventually the byproducts of that, the ash, builds up and clogs everything. The ash products can not be burned any further, but they are less harmful and carcinogenic. Additionally, semi truck dpfs are designed where they can be easily taken apart yourself, then taken to a professional cleaner, where they flush with water and the waste products can be properly disposed of for a reasonable cost. I agree most smaller diesels dpfs are designed poorly, where removal is difficult, and you need to use a grinder to properly expose the baffles for cleaning.

      It would actually be good if every mechanic did a video of exactly what they have done to your car. I know sometimes they don't do anything at all.

    Thanks a million for showing the trick of telling the car the DFP has been replaced (I'm a shadetree mechanic but I've got an Autel Maxisys since I do all the work on my own cars.) I had cleaned the DPF on my Range Rover Sport but was still getting the DPF Full warning. The car was in limp mode and I was thinking I was going to have to pull it and clean it manually (the car only has 35k miles.) But this did the trick and showed that using the chemical while the DPF was in situ had actually cleared the soot to the lower acceptable limit. Interestingly, I too had the map sensor error. I had pulled and cleaned the MAP sensor and the throttle body, and found no leaks just as you did on this one.

    At last an honest straight to the point video. Now I know which tool I need for my poorly mini D. Its been to three garages and none have solved the problem for me. Changed todate. Dpf filter, pressure sensor, egr, injectors recon. Eolys replaced. But still goes into limp mode with dpf light on. But none have reset the ecu.
    176k on the clock.

      @@ORileysAutos Yeah it did. A forced regen was successful driving 15 mins up the motor way.
      By the way, what do you consider a good pressure differential on a clean DPF? I guess you'd need to say this based on a certain rpm. My motor is a 4.4 v8 vogue in case that matters. I am trying to decide whether to put some of the DPF cleaner through it.

    Exactly same problem my range rover evoque had. mechanic could not regenerate, and $920 .
    I bought a similar machine and followed the video , $600 later going great, and with two diesel vehicles I think it will pay for itself.

    Cracking idea to use a brake pressure bleeder to install the cleaning fluid , i have ysed the JLM cleaner a few times , but local factors charge hire charge for spray dispenser (even to us like you in the trade ) , which do you prefer the wynns or lsunch cleaning fluid ,?

    Jimmy great videos- our issue is we have moved to Mexico and the RR dealers here have never sold /worked on Diesel models . We have the XXX miles to go warning . topped up fluid , cleaned sensor, ran the flush through and re ran all the tests . Still the warning is on the screen ..any ideas

    Hi , maybe the question is answered already but I couldn't find it in the comments, I have the same problem with the dpf sensor code after resetting all the fail codes and the car goes in to limp mode after couple of minutes... But I don't have an expensive obd 2 scanner like yours , how can I reset the dpf sensor like you did without the obd2 scanner (if there is a way ) thank you

    Is it ok to use that wynns cleaner in that way? The bottle and website all state to only use it with the DPF removed and let it soak for 8 hours? Your process would be much easier!

    I have a BMW 525D Xdrive 2012. I need to do a DPF cleaning. I have got quite a lot upbuilding of soot on the DPF after a turbo crash and had to replace the turbo. On the exhause pipe on the left side there is a exhause back pressure sensor where a hose goes into the exhause pipe before the DPF. Can I pump the DPF cleaning fluid into this hose? Or do you know where is the best place to pump in the cleaning fluid?

    This Wynn's Off-Car DPF cleaner is not available here in Australia. What similar brand and type do you recommend to do a flush similar to the one you have done? I have a 2011 Mazda 3 2.2 Diesel and I have also the DPF light constantly flashing on my dashboard. I have an Autel MK808S and did 4 static DPF Regenaration of 1 hour each but every single time the 3600second regen finished but it didn't give me the completed message. I click ok and instead tells me that the regen has failed for unknown reasons. The car didn't loose any power after the warning message showed up... I also went for a 1 hour drive at around 3000 RPMs with only the 3rd gear and still the flashing warning line did not go away.... I added also some DPF cleaner inside my diesel Tank but still the light is on. The error that I get on my Autel is the following: P2549 Diesel Particulate Filter Regeneration Frequency. Any Advice please? Seems impossible to clean this code and this DPF Filter with normal static Regen and the active Regen seems not starting while driving... Thank You.

    On ingenioum engines on discovery sport and evoque 2.0 that pressure sensor is for low pressure egr,so you attached cleaner into egr cooler down passed dpf.Just to know for next one you have dpf pressure sensor downstream.For that code air flow correlation most of the time is intake manifold flaps/motor worn and start to leak boost,if its not timing 😂.Oil service is a must and reset too.Anny way, anny video is better than no video.Some simple things is mind blowing that garages don't want to try or check or don't know is crazy..Cheers man

    Hi mate I have a 2015 Vito that's running perfect except after 5 mins terrible white smokes comes out the exhaust. Starts instantly and no misses. Only code that comes up is the dpf 2 different ones. I've had the warning light for the dpf on for a while now tho. And just started after i refueled. Any ideas

    I tried this process yesterday on 2017 Range Rover sport 2017 diesel. Vehicle has barely any throttle got the RPM to 2000 great amount of white smoke coming out of exost but remained plugged up. Although haven’t done any flushing but went through process as filter has been replaced in order to gain regeneration process . No luck any suggestions?

    Thanks for the videos, I've noticed other comments about this being an EGR tube that goes through the dpf anyway if I understand that correctly. Is there much harm in doing it this way as I cant access anything from underneath the car.
    My Evoque has the filter full warning. 1st mechanic shop said it wouldnt let them do a forced regen. I'm hoping to spray a dpf cleaned (aerosol product) into it and avoid buying a new dpf

    Great work as per usual, just have a question. I always taught the car had to be at operating temperature in order to do regeneration. On this vehicle, it was well below operating temp.. Or does it matter

      Not the case with chemical flushes they usually ask DPF to be 50oC or below before squirting them in and then performing the run (that then does bring the temp up).

    Ford Fiesta 1.5 /2019 ,only 26k miles, keeps getting a DPF code , i can clear it but it comes back. My scanner states that it has to have a code or log in from Ford before it will force a regen. I cannot bypass this. Do i have to take it to a Dealer?
    I have tried a long high revs up a motorway ,normally i do short commute trips.

      It's better to do since during DPF regen all EGR valves will be closed and it will be cleared more effectively.

    Hey Jimmy, thanks for all the videos. They’re super helpful and informative. This one in particular has been really helpful in troubleshooting my DPF woes, or hopefully will once I get home. Just a side question, you changed your the DPF cleaner brand from the earlier videos (Wynns) over to your DPF cleaner, was that for monetary reasons or have you found the new cleaner to be better? What cleaner would you suggest in Yankee Doodle land? Cant get the Wynns or other brand stuff here. Thanks Again! Appreciate your videos so much!!!

      This newer stuff from Launch is much better. No monetary reasons.
      I can't comment on what's available in America but I'd look for a well known brand

      ​@@ORileysAutos Cheers Jimmy! Just saw yer reply. I was able to reset my DPF as a new one with my Autel Scanner. I then found a Foam DFP cleaner on Amazon that was a bit dear, but it cleaned it out. Gave the TDI a good thrashing on the express way for 2 hours. Thought I was set, then Glow Plug Light started blinking. I worked out it was the Glow Plug Module that went bad, which probably caused all the issues clogging up the DPF in the first place, as it wasn't able to conduct regens as needed. Couldn't have figured any of this without your videos mate! Keep up the excellent Videos! 😉

    We have remove the DPF and delete the regeneration , and delete EGR
    We have one problem it says filter clocked
    And the check light comes on , does anyone knows how to

    My understanding of the fault relating to map sensor is that due to a restriction in the dpf not all the exhaust gas can be pushed out of the cylinders so therefore not a full load of clean air can be sucked in....result is the sensor flags a code due to not seeing correct amount of air flow at a given engine revs. Hence once fixed the fault can be cleared and not seen again. Hope this helps

    My Honda accord DPF was cleaned and fully reset/replacment but for some reason fault comes back in few miles and diagnostics doesnt show any errors. Any idea 2011 2.2 dtec

      Yes. It can show a dpf warning because its due an oil change. Change the oil and reset oil service

    Don't suppose you are anywhere near Huddersfield, are you? I have a transit van that ran the battery flat on Friday, when the RAC got it charged again there was aengine warning light saying soot and ash accumulation issue. The van works good, but can't get the fault code to go away even with a fault reader. i don't believe the DPF is faulty as it seems a coincidence the fault only showed up once I got my battery issue fixed.

    Hello, nice video. I have a strange issue with my car. Fiat Bravo 2008 1.6 multijet. I observe very often a regeneration of the DPF. When I scan with OBD the DPF status sometimes it shows mileage of around 320k km and different % but sometimes it shows 117k km and 64% block and it is always 117k and 64%. So I think that my DPF is clear but regenerations are triggered because the ECM is somehow blocked on 117k and 64%. What can I do in this situation? Thanks!

    Your such a good help.. I wrote you an email to O'rileys asking for help (paying your rate) get get past some issues on my 2016 RRS td6.. Only 28 miles to "no Start".. The dashboard warning says DEF dosing error.. I am pretty sure I smell the def when I Reve it up but don't have enough miles to run it out before I'll get stuck.. Looking for an aftermarket downstream NOX senseor but its like Land Rover has blocked everything out from US markets.. Dealerships will only sell with the module and its like $850 US.. Crazy.. There has to are a six wire NOX sensor I can solder onto the existing module?? I see Bosch ones for under $50 dollars new

      Very rarely do they need removal. Not sure if the 2.0 on that has the ford vaporizer? Or is it the D3 Volvo engine?

    Hi I have a code on my 2017 Discovery5 TDV6 stating quality of DEF inadequate I only have 250 miles to drive before it will not restart. I just ordered a ms906bt can this help me? Dealerships here cannot see car for a month.

      Yes. In hot functions section you can reset the miles to allow you to start the vehicle. Diagnostic tests and live data would also be helpful

      @@Matt_Lock what is the code? The DEF Quality is measured by the NOX Sensors most modern cars have more than one so it's worth checking. Almost every Adblue fault I've seen this year has been caused by faulty NOX Sensors

    That pipe you disconnected is not the DPF pressure sensor pipe that pipe goes down to the low pressure egr cooler witch gases come back from the Dpf to be re burnt and the egr cooler should have no soot in there anyway
    so that fluid just gone through the engine to be burnt then out the exhaust system

    Aren't you afraid that wynns cleaner can go to the intake through the low pressure EGR on this engine? That's quite a risky procedure. I've never seen wynns cleaner be used without DPF dismantle..

    When you say it's at a reasonable percentage for the computer to say it's ok to run but is the DPF clean as in new or 70% clean or more thank you

    That's not the dpf pressure sensor it's the low pressure egr sensor...Dpf sensor is lower down at the back of the engine 👍

    That wasn't the dpf pressure sensor that was the low pressure egr sensor. That fluid went behind the dpf. Ingenium dpfs are prone to cracking. If there is soot in the tail pipes the dof has cracked internally and cannot be flushed or regenerated

    Resetting the learned values would have allowed a forced regeneration. The flush just allowed you to charge more!

    Jeez, the instructions for that product say to remove sensors prior to using it. It also states the dpf must be removed from the car first. Not surprised your seeing sensor issues now.
