Mathilda is zo dankbaar. Mijn beste hoya voor stekken in water en perliet. Sommige grotere hoyas krijgen slap blad bij mij. Maar omdat ik hoya fan ben blijf ik proberen.
Loved the video. Loved when people test out various methods of propagation. You had me worried with the soil propagation as I thought the soil was too wet and it might rot the plant when left in the bag. But it worked out.
I'm still a newbie but I've had good experiences rooting Hoya serpens in sphagnum. I'm now trying out perlite for the first time! My hoya "Mathilde" is also a very fast grower for me :)
@@plantwithroos I have a HUGE bag of sphagnum left over, from when I tried to make my tortoise a hide filled with sphagnum (he didn't like it), so I have to use it up somehow 😅 The only thing is, that the sphagnum sticks to the new roots, so it is sometimes hard to tell if something is a root or moss 😅😅
That was so interesting, thank you! I tend to prefer water propagation just to check if the cutting loves life in the first place:) By the way, I try to get the sap with it into the water or earth, it seems to grow so much faster that way.
Oohh that's interesting! I'm gonna try to keep the sap in from now on. And I've started using see-through pots so you can actually see the roots once they develop!
Of course. It's important to me. Here in the Netherlands we have Keti Koti, on July 1st. It's a celebration of the abolition of slavery in Suriname and the former Dutch colonies in the Caribbean, so our Dutch version of juneteenth
Very interesting to see this :) I get very good results propagating in distilled water (never tried rainwater). Sometimes I will add a drop of seaweed fertilizer and the roots just take off like crazy! I also did potting mix propagation and some of it was good some was less successful :D Now I want to try propagating Hoyas in moss and then in perlite, but first I have to find a Hoya victim 😈
I've been testing propagating in perlite and I get root growth and growth points like crazy! Except my biggest issue so far has been the transition into soil, since I feel it's almost like transitioning from water except slightly less of a shock :( I've lost many cutting to this method but also success with others! Maybe I'll give a go at leca instead
I have found rooting in baggie and potting soil work so much better than water too. Also there is no transition period from the water to soil. So the soil method is a win win for me.
Hi! Love this experiment. Curious at what point did you take the pot out of the high humidity baggy? Currently, have a rooting mathilde in one right now and keep referring to this video :)
Ummm that's a long time ago.. I think once the first few new leaves were mature? it helps to open the bag a few hours each day first and then slowly more and more
Some days I love hoyas, some days Idonno, when I buy them they loose so many leaves and if I dont water right they loose leaves and if I dont look at them right they loose leaves.
wow do you have an update on that bilobata?? i currently also have one lousy strand rooted in dirt after killing the other 4 cuttings of it :,( I've stuck it in a baggie in hopes some humidity might help it out *fingers crossed*
This is a really old video. I since got a bit more knowledge about hoyas and also learned that potting them upside down isn't super bad, they will still grow!
Hey Roos, Ik kwam je kanaal tegen. Leuk!

I just bought my 1st Hoya Mathilde looking forward to growing. 😁
Oh nice! They're so fun to grow
Loved the video. Loved when people test out various methods of propagation. You had me worried with the soil propagation as I thought the soil was too wet and it might rot the plant when left in the bag. But it worked out.
Thanks! I never really water them anymore after the first making the soil wet! That helps. And if they're still wet I let it sit open for a while

Ah I wanna try perlite soon! With some Alocasia shoots I think. I'm scared of moss 😅🤷🏻♀️❤️

Love the idea with the HEMA thingy 🤯🤩
Haha thank you!

You are awesome for taking the time to learn about Juneteenth😻

Very nice! Thank you for sharing!🇵🇷
Thanks for the video
Great video! Very nice comparison! I have a hoya matilde in leca which is growing nicely too but yours in the soil is amazing. Did you fertilise it?

After you put in soil (when propagating) how often do you water ? Does the soil have to stay moist for the plant to root?
Welcome to hoya matilde owners club! :))) (I know I'm a bit late to the game but still - welcome :D )
Haha thank you! I appreciate it 🙌🏻😅❤️

I will.. But it's not good! It was fine but today it looked horrible. Too hot probably 👀⚡️😭
Does the baggy method also work for big leaf hoyas like an Obovata? Does it affect the leaf being so close to the soil and in a bag?
Yes it works great and no seems to be fine when the leaf touched the plastic!
Which is that plant cutting u showed us that is t doing well?
Do you have a time Stamp? 🙏🏻❤️

Huh am I blind or is that a hoya serpens? Whatever plant it is, I love it. But I'm confused now lol😆🙊
It's a mathilde, a cross between serpens and carnosa
The one you put in the glass was upside down. :(
