I like traverse exercises. At level 4I use them to encourage balance but also I demonstrate both pivoted turns and stem step in the redirects. People often copy that and then we can more successfully introduce hocky stops, a big mile stone in progression. Uphill ski traverse steering the up hill ski under the raised down hill ski to start a javelin turn is an example of "skiing into counter" the biggest mile stone to advanced skiing... Schifferin does that one well.
