- A fantastic weekend of Rallying in the beautiful County Donegal, came to a tragic end on Sunday morning, when Manus Kelly left the road on the first Fanad Head test. Unfortunately, Manus passed away.
We would like to send our condolences to all the Kelly family, all his friends, work colleagues, MK Rallying & PCRS rally team and the wider rallying community.
Your memory will live on... "THE KING OF DONEGAL"
That's so sad. The Donegal Rally is something we really love. Every year we camp up at the second hairpin at Knockalla the night before. You can see us in the Red Land Rover with a roof tent with the Donegal Overlanding and Euro4x4Parts flags in this video. We have made great friends just from camping there overnight every year. Looking forward to 2021 and life returning to normal.
We hope to see you there on the Hairpins!! We need our normality back!!

I was at the donegal game when I found out and I nearly started crying and the donegal team were close friends with him and they didn’t know until after the game😓🙏❤️We love u Manus, king of donegal

Another outstanding and well edited rally video. And a very nice tribute to Manus. A tough watch at the end :( the event really was rolling back the years, superb close battles, big crowds etc. For it to end in tragedy like this is awful. RIP Manus, and my condolences to his wife and children, family circle and friends. Heard a lot of people calling for the number 1 to be retired from future Donegals. I would prefer the number 3, as a mark of respect for his 3 amazing wins in a row, a feat that may stand for a very long time. cheers

RIP Manus Kelly, great video and nice tribute at the end, when the music kicked in i must admit i started to get emotional. I happened to speak with him at the West Cork this year for a moment, and I remarked after what a pleasant unassuming guy he was, condolences to all his family and the rally community

Fantastic video. We were some of the people up camping on the hairpin at Knockalla stage on the previous night. Have done that for the last 3 years in a row. Such a terribly sad ending to a phenomenal rally weekend.

I never heard of him before this. I'm just a rally fan from nowhere rally land. I am fascinated with the dynamics of a crash and there doesn't seem to be any footage of the actual accident that I can find. Of course it's not really my business. Rest in peace and peace be with the family and fans. No one from where I'm from will sit in a green race car. Green is forbidden. Bad luck.

Thank you everyone for your comment's, Manus will be laid to rest tomorrow, Thursday 27/06/2019, information for non-family and competitors is as follows,
"Notice to all competitors, if they could gather in St Eunan’s GAA car park from 11am tomorrow. From there we will all proceed to the graveyard for the burial of Manus Kelly. The family and local community will more than fill the chapel and it is right that we give them this time. Team wear is at your own discretion."
Again many thanks for your beautiful comments for a super star, who has been taken from us wayyy too soon. I hope he gets the send of he deserve's tomorrow and I hope his legend continue's and inspire's our young to become model human beings like Mandy was!

Great vid. Record crowds this year. Makes me wonder if that was for us to watch Manus one last time. Totally surreal and it just wont sink in that he is gone. Personally never knew the man but that still doesnt make it any less of a loss to me, rallying or Donegal as a whole. 2019 rally will live long in the memory for unhappy reasons unfortuately.

Fantastic tribute, however Donal Barrett was Manus's navigator and best friend who was with Manus on his final journey and not Rory Kennedy as pictured on the car window at the end. It is my firm belief that this would need to be rectified as these guys were inseperable as they climbed the ladder to victory in the national and then ultimately 3 overall wins in a row. I think it is ,and would be an injustice to not correct this! I am only expressing my opinion and by no means trying to undermine your good work with this video. Thankyou.

Yes this is something that struck me when editing the video, the footage of Manus sitting in the car at the end was from the UAC Easter Stages rally, I didnt even realise Rory Kennedy was his Co-Driver that weekend, one would just assume it would be Donall as they had such a friendship and connection... Unfortunately I have no close up footage of Manus from Donegal, only entering and leaving the Service Park.
PS. Donall is very much part of the Tribute, his name appears twice in the close up's at service and he himself also in between those 2 clips.

Just to let you know Subaru WRC reg ST56SRT is back at the Manus Kelly's home here in Donegal for the funeral tmoro. The car has livery of Manus & his family on the bonnet and black & white livery of Manus on the roof. I believe its on Face Book. It's really really heartbreaking. Thankyou and be safe on the stages. RIP Manus Kelly. Donegals king of the stages.

Shame to lose the man manus doing what he loved. What day/stage was the accident? Im in Australia didnt catch any of the rally this year. Was he doing well up to the crash?

Donall attended the funeral yesterday, from what I believe he was concussed after the crash and has a broken leg.
Hold Er Flat ok thanks although obviously the situation isn’t at all the fact Donnal has gotten away with limited injuries is good a tough day for gb and Irish motorsport
That's a great question and extremely important to remember him as he gets on with his life.
I have a friend that survived a crash that the driver did not. Apart from his very serious physical injuries which he still hasn't fully recovered from, there is a very real and serious mental impact on survivors. Anyone who knows how to reach out to him should make a point of it now and in the following weeks and months.
