Kay's been real busy so no thumbnail just yet
It really is like a complete offshoot of Painscreek. All of the elaborate, dramatic, overarching story has been removed and the detective gameplay has been doubled and improved across the board. Fery tells me the game was designed with a "70/30" principle in mind, meaning 70% of the story can be learned by exploring the crime scene and examining documents but the remaining 30% must be reached by assumptions and inferences -- like a real detective.
The challenge is lots of fun, and I'm especially excited to play some of these episodes with friends, but even just me and my thoughts I'm having a great time so far.
Hope you enjoy!
Vote for Holt, spread the word!
scene investigators: there is no grand overarching narrative.
also scene investigators: *makes each chapter a grand overarching narrative*
I can't recall the last time I was actively anticipating a youtube series. ! this is such fun.
same here I'm like when is my next scene investigators
! ! Me too ! I keep checking back in regularly because I NEED more
Go to scenario 2 and check Rose´s phone (the phone case to be precise :).....)
Also check how you Typed "Phillip" in the case solutions ;) .
*spoiler*
I had taken notes of the items missing from the scavenger hunt because I had anticipated finding them somewhere in the second scene and never did. When I walked into the bedroom and saw them on the floor I got literal chills bc I didnt realize the stories were connectedl
it is SO satisfying to see your approach to the game, and the fact that you had to sleep on the case instead of losing to your curiosity and getting that sweet immediate gratification.
needless to say, i love this series!
Honestly a huge relief to hear this is at all satisfying to watch. Sometimes it can be frustrating to think I’m uploading an episode without a solid conclusion, but I am determined to avoid the trial-and-error cheating going forward
12 minutes in and I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for everything to click into place, because I have a theory and I am absolutely chomping at the bit to see when you figure it out
ETA: Oh I have Theories about this but am unsure I can talk about them, especially if you want to go back through and try to solve this properly. At the least I'd suggest taking a look back through Scenario 2, though.

Alright this was a terrible thing to put on while trying to write an essay because i was absolutely in a trance watching this thing but I digress. Because we've (mostly) hit the end of this first scenario i wanted to just talk about some of my initial thoughts and feelings on the game. First of all, I do think that ir gives you good evidence to get to all the solutions. I've never played it before, but I was yelling at my screen multiple times because I'd come to a conclusion a minute or so ahead of you (pattern recognition with autism is CRAZY lmao). One thing I mainly can't shake about this game is how much more raw it feels compared to Painscreek. You described at the start of this series about how Painscreek feels like soap opera adjacent, and I'm inclined to agree because of how much you have to (at times) suspend your disbelief (after all, everyone keeps a diary and has keys absolutely everywhere). However worh Scene Invesigators, it really feels like the devs have taken the great decuction parts of Painscreek and honed in on that. The stories feel so much more raw and it's something I really can't shake while watching this gameplay series. I also really appreciate it from an artistic perspective as well, as I think there's something to be said about how similar an artists and detectives take in a scene or a case. It's all about noticing things and honestly from environmental storytelling (if a tad heavy handed out of necessity), and I think that's really fun.
Also I'm agreeing with everyone who is saying try Phillip's full name because this game is full name sensitive and I think you're on the money with your deductions o7
(Edit: spelling, again)
Phillip’s full name?? Unless I’m crazy, I don’t actually think his last name was ever made clear… maybe I should take a closer look.
I have heard a l o t of people say I misspelled the name though, I’m guessing it was two l’s 😬
@@Vote5Holt I've just checked the last upload, Phillip definitely has a last name, but I'll let you figure it out
My theory is that Thomas got the rope bc that’s how Katherine killed herself
This has nothing to do with who the killer may or may not be (I genuinely don't know) but I did note that Nicholas lives with his dad. Which makes me wonder when, why and how Nicholas came to live with his dad but Hazel has been missing for so many years after years at a foster home? I don't think it's particularly relevant to the case, it just made me cant my head and go "huh, that's odd".
Also, I feel like another possible place for a bullet hole would be the hallway?
Oh I can’t wait for the next upload ! Putting all the pieces together from past scenarios to this latest one.
It really does make me sad to see Thomas dead… I wanted him to make it. For him and for Irene (as a support to help get her out of there). I wonder if we ever will find out what happened to hazel….
Thomas really was a good guy. Even after Katherine passed, he concerned himself with looking after her kids. I worry that Hazel did die, and that’s why we read about him visiting the cemetery in episode 2
i think you need philips full name to answer, all the other characters have full names (you wrote thomas harrington not just thomas) so maybe find out what philips surname is
@@hobbesfield1082 phillip , Now i understand that volt took the L but this game is sensitive with the spelling.
Okay, finished watching it and that’s a MEAN way to end it XD
I started crying after the message from the little girl appeared on the phone. I know it's fictional. But the problem isn't.
Kinda sad that he died and was really hoping it wasn't him.
Just started but I can’t wait for this one to end to write a comment! Hehe :D I know I’ll enjoy this one a lot, as I have all of the others! You’re doing great!
Ok I officially have to check this game out. I love how these scenarios’ stories are all coming together and I must say that your commentary really helps bring life to the story we are seeing take place.
I don’t know anything about the series but I’ll comment for the algorithm. Best of luck!
Wrong spelling of the name!!! I won’t say if your correct or not to avoid a spoiler but your only putting one “l” in “Phillip!!!”””
Btw loving this play through. It makes me so happy to see you play this!!!
I love seeing your thought process as you go through this game. :) it's interesting to see where your deductions get really really close and where they're way off.
Also - this game is super picky about how you enter in the answers - I misspelled a name in one of the cases when I played it and went absolutely crazy trying to figure out what was wrong.
Strange for the story (of a game with no story) to *thiccen*
Starting to suspect this no-story game might actually have a story 😬
EXCELLENT EPISODE!!!! I at one point was also convinced Todd was involved. Very very interesting!!!
He still could be if I’m misspelling his name!
DUMB THEORY AHEAD
Here's my wild hypothesis. What if there were three people involved here? Pretty sure Rose took Phillip's gun prior to Thomas breaking into their house. What if Thomas took Irene to his apartament, Rose found the apartament later that night, used the key she found to enter, there was a scuffle, she shot but missed, hence the red herring bullet hole on the ceiling, took Irene with her and ran like hell. In the morning, having realised what he'd done for them, she left him a voicemail thanking him, but it was too late, Thomas was convinced Irene was going back to being trafficked and decided to commit suicide. He bought a lenght of rope to do so, but before he could, Phillip - who'd intercepted the key somehow (maybe Thomas just never re-locked the door after Rose left? Would probably make more sense if he took it from Rose, but man, I really badly want to believe that the girls made their escape) and also got himself a new gun real quick - entered his apartment, shot him, and then ransacked the place for clues as to where Rose and Irene have ran away to. The theory probably makes no sense and it's held together purely by the assumption that Rose a) had the gun (which I'm fully convinced of, but I don't know if it's ever explicitly spelled out?) and b) left the voicemail (which I don't know how to verify, considering that I don't think her number is ever shown in the previous video) - and also that it WAS really Phillip and you misspelled it - but hey, maybe it's something. If I'm misinterpreting/misremembering something terribly, please tell me.
What an interesting game!!!! I love it!!!
Might still be on sale if you’d like to try out the other crime scenes yourself! I believe there are 12, total
@@Vote5Holt thank you! We did buy it and we've been having such a good time with it!
this game is really interesting!
What if... intruder shot thomas, Then shot the ceiling once to make it look like a suicide. Both bullet casings would fit in the same gun, and sometimes people reload their own ammo so you get mix n match casings. And the gun is notably not here, where it would've fallen out of Thomas's hand if he had one.
What a cliffhanger! Looking forward to the next part, but in the meantime I agree with the other comments to check spelling. It really sucks that EQ made the game so finicky about spelling 😭
You were on the right track, don’t doubt yourself!
i love this episode of murder she wrote
Is there a second phone on the floor in the bedroom?
Maybe you have to use full names?
perhaps you're having issues because you're not typing full names? like you didnt give phillip a last name and you also spelt it wrong
Not gonna lurk in the comments for too long today for fear of spoilers, but uhhhhhh I have seen people say I misspelled Philip 😬😬😬😬😬
Will follow up on that, but even if it is him I still haven’t fully grasped what went down. Truth will out eventually
I think the issue is you’re still missing a pretty key detail from Scenario 2…someone else mentioned it in the comments already but please check all the cell phone cases
