Fun fact: That solo on the recording was done on a Fostex 4 track recorder that Alex was experimenting with different solos for the track. When He showed it to Rupert Hine, The producer said lets just use what you recorded there on cassette. AMAZING!
All those years ago, I heard this song while driving home from work to my then wife who I adored. I was thinking "by the ghost of a chance I found someone to love" - but when I got home she went crazy because I arrived home later than she expected. The sentiment was lost in relation to her, but the lyric and believe always remained true to me. We divorced. Two years later I found the girl the lyric was truly intended for.
What's nice here is Alex ends the song in a ghost-note, which is a musical term and you can see it in the sheet music as well. Freaking awesome. When I play this, I make sure to add that suspended chord and a ghost-note as well.
Love this song . . . from the very first time I heard it. I love the transition from the more aggressive section to the mellow sections . . . So cool! The atmospheric section has always reminded me of Level 42 - their slower stuff. And I do know that they were fans of Level 42. And this is a love song of sorts, but done Rush style! Very very cool!!
I love this song too ya’ll. Does it seem slower here live than record? Thats odd. Usually works the other way. Kudos on holding it back Neil the professor and band.
I can never hear enough of this song! One of my all time favorite Alex solo's.

brings me to tears hearing the perfect guitar on top of the perfect rhythm section
Ged and Neil my favorite rhythm section also
This song has always moved me.
One of those Rush tressures!!! I love this song, the lyrics, Geddy's voice, and of course Alex's solo ... Great song!!!!

I absolutely love this song.
Last is a very real peace. .
The melody and lyrics... Simply amazing!
"somehow we find each other through all that masquerade" !!!
4:24 probably the most electric crowd reaction I have ever heard for a guitar solo.
Neil sure had his cheerios that morning!!
ese solo de guitarra me hace llorar/ that guitar solo make me cry
I was so there!!!! 2nd best concert ever!!!!! All the way from Marion, N.C!!!!!!!
Alex so relaxed and clowning around. Can definitely tell that 40 years on he was still having fun.
I wish Alex's guitar solo lasted longer. The slow part of the song is soooo Kewl!
That final voicing just made my life.
One of their BEST endings
The Professor continues
I am the First and the Last , a last that has no end.. . .
Because He understands. . . i learned . . .
Alex and his "sexy chord"
All music since 75 for me... in top 30. So much, so simple, so good.
amazing...amazing

El mejor tema de Rush!!

🧡❤️❤️❤️
hermosoooo!!!!!
One of their best imo. Out of a band with 175 songs, only a couple that I would ever skip.
I have given up.
key word >>>> L a s t . . . .
That’s a lot of rotisserie chicken 🍗 😅
Great song and performance except I hate hearing Geddy’s voice going down hill. He used to sing so easily.
