My name is Chelsea and my dad would change the lyric to "Hey Chelsea" instead of "Hey Jealousy" when he would sing it to make me smile. My dad's been gone years now, but hearing this now takes me right back to when my dad was around.
I remember being 17 in 1995 and me and my highschool sweetheart driving home after school and us blasting Gin Blossoms,I'd be singing this song to her and her in the passenger seat smiling, blushing, and laughing all at the same time. We ended up getting engaged after college ,but 3 weeks and 2 days after I asked her to marry me she had an aneurism and passed away at the young age of 23. It crushed me and I almost committed suicide and in one of those dark moments I met my now wife. I have 2 kids, and a great marriage, but when I'm alone I still make time for Amy, and listening to the Gin Blossoms is how I let her know she never left my heart or my mind.
Hey man, life is brutal sometimes but we're all here for you. Every stranger you meet has a heart and is willing to help. Thanks for opening up and glad this song has a special place for you.
We're probably around the same age. That's a tragic thing to have to go through at such a young age man. The 90's were beautiful times. And the music oh man. Anyways glad you made it buddy..
We've come a long way since '89, this nobody band at the Mason Jar in Tempe, AZ with Doug Hopkins at the helm. Still have the original demo on vinyl, bought at Zia Records. RIP Doug.
1998… this was bumpin’ on 102.7 KISS FM here in LA. It was already a few years old but… that’s before you could just run and play a song. You had to wait for the radio to play it. THE 90’s…. BLESS YOUR HEART!!
such a good rendition, I had to stop everything else i'm doing, "full screen" the video and give it my full attention. it felt like a new song from 30 years ago. College. A girl named Krista
Thank you this is now my favorite version of this song that I heard once as a kid on one of my first nights out to bars. I went home that night and learned it
Um, this gift you have given the human race is, imo, the most perfect rock song ever recorded. There will be 5 million comments telling me I'm high, but I'm not, not anymore. Been 7 years I ain't going back. Anyway my memory loves this song. That gal that got away or mine was the girl that was gone too soon. Thank you gentlemen.
That whole album, new miserable experience came out in 1992. They were playing tracks off that record for like 5 years after. This was totally a no skip album. That and the empire records soundtrack. They played til i hear it from you. So damn good.
This version is great! A little slower, a bit stripped down and wonderfully acoustic. All older bands would do well to follow their lead and give their fans an updated version of earlier hits.
Do it they still sound excellent and have great chemistry Saw them about 2 months ago in Louisville and it was definitely one of the best concerts I've ever been to
This song brings me back ! Love it !!! That was a really good album this song was on. ÓTIMA MÚSICA, MUITO BOM" They still sound really good...takes me back 👍
Well, tell me do you think it'd be all right If I could just crash here tonight? You can see I'm in no shape for driving And anyway, I've got no place to go And you know it might not be that bad You were the best I'd ever had If I hadn't blown the whole thing years ago I might not be alone Tomorrow we can drive around this town And let the cops chase us around The past is gone, but something might be found To take its place Hey jealousy Hey jealousy Hey jealousy Hey jealousy And you can trust me not to think And not to sleep around And if you don't expect too much from me You might not be let down 'Cause all I really want is to be with you Feeling like I matter too If I hadn't blown the whole thing years ago I might be here with you Tomorrow we can drive around this town And let the cops chase us around The past is gone, but something might be found To take its place Hey jealousy Tomorrow we can drive around this town And let the cops chase us around The past is gone, but something might be found To take its place Hey jealousy Hey jealousy Hey jealousy Hey jealousy Well, tell me, do you think it'd be all right If I could just crash here tonight? The best I'd ever had couldn't trust me when we were together. I messed that up. She could trust me now, but we've both moved on and married. I wish we could drive around our small old town and I could somehow erase what she suffered because of me. This song takes me to the moment when I might run into her again. I'd like to think that if I hadn't blown the whole thing in 1999, her life would've been far better. Very high on my list of life regrets.
Yeah! You know, I thought he sang it really well and he was still hitting the high notes pretty easily in the beginning (especially considering he's nearly 30 years older now!), but toward the end, he looks out of breath and it looked like he just needed to stretch his body and open up his chest.
66 yrs old and listen this kind of music my wife doesn't understand what men think about. After 37 yrs of being with the greatest women in my life maybe she will figure what this means to me at 40 yrs. She loves country southern girl and I'm a yankee from up north it's been a wonderful ride with her. Her favorite saying is the difference between a yankee and a bucket full of crap. IT'S the BUCKET Now I remember why I don't like her. LOL

@@jdessell Sadly, this song seems to be a cry for help from a depressed alcoholic on a downward spiral.
That record has to be worth a few bucks no doubt.
Grew up here in the Phoenix area as well. Awesome times for music the 90's were..
The best from 90's...thank God they still around

I remember listening to them in the 90's. Saw them for the first time just last weekend in Youngstown OH. Had fun, and brought me back in time!

Fantastic, deep.
Any good parody lyrics? I got nothing 😢
More egg shaker please.

Have yall heard about Chew? I just found out about it.
I dont know Bill Paxton can sing this good 🤣
Even though Doug Hopkins wrote and sang the original, which the band did him dirty before he killed himself, this is still good. RIP Doug

Wish she would’ve put the shaker i Down and concentrated more on his vocals
the band that the 90s forgot...so underrated.. better than the band of Kurt Cob

When I was a kid I used to listen and love the sound and the beat of it but I was too young and stupid to understand the irony in the lyrics❤
why don't you change the lyrics back to "trust me not to drink" rather than "not to think"? p.s. lover y'all
We play an acoustic version of this in my trio. Well, I drop it a step……
True vocal talent. Sounds just like he did "years ago". Autotune killed real artist's livelihood
