Great reaction! Artists like Dax and Tom give me great hope for the future!! I think as long as we all "identify" within groups - politics, religion, races, etc. this won't be fixed. At that point, group think rather than individual thought dominates. We don't critically review what's happening within the group, we just accept their message. And those that question the message often suppress their thoughts out of fear of being ostracized by the group. It's scary. This past year has made me question things I've identified with in the past and forced me to think them through more critically. #HOG

As a history major I have to disagree with the position there is "400 years of history". I remember in college, a little after the Berlin Wall came down, there were some Bulgarians that came to study at my college. One day, in art class, one of our fellow students was talking about how her parents had just purchased an "old" Antebellum home with the ornate decorative motifs, molding, cornices, etc. At one point someone turned to a young lady from Bulgaria and asked her what her home was like. Theodora answered, "My family lives in a new home. It was built in the 1300's." History begins with the first "words" painted on the walls of a cave: a hand, a man walking with spear in hand, a spear flying through the air, a spear in a bull, columns of eight pictured bulls = I hunted and speared eight bulls. Our history doesn't conveniently begin when some escaped the confines of Europe and began to break free of the ideals of the Old World. Then following WW I, and more intensely after WW II, we began to question all moral traditions handed down from our ancestors: rules about marriage, property, life, etc. Now today we have decided anything goes. We are tolerating things that none of our ancestors on any continent in any culture of achievement accepted: adultery, theft, murder, child abuse, etc. Which leads me to my amendment of the old adage about repeating history: "Those who know history are doomed to be dragged through it again by those who do not care" ~ me. The problem is people these days are obsessed with labels, classifications of different groups and this and that like we are objects and not people. I was talking about slavery once and a brown guy said what would a white person know…till I explained that my white Polish pop was in a Concentration camp forced to do slave labour😑 People have also seemed to make it trendy to take on a past relatives pain and make it their own as of it was them it happened to, which is why I make it clear that when I mention what happened back regarding my pop and Nazis, that’s my POPS pain, not mine. It’s ok to take on certain aspects of your relatives, or stories they told, or inheritance or this and that, but why would someone wanna take their pain as a gift? That’s a pretty crappy gift, please return to sender 🤦♂️

I actually have alot of hope for the future as long as we can ride this rough patch out, i completely agree we are unpacking so much especially with social media and communication tools that we never expected making it happen at a pace that we are just not ready yet, I think given time alot of this will settle and we`ll find a happy medium between the two side and restore the balance
