I’m petite and 6 months post op. My weight loss has slowed down a lot, even though I have started running a few times a week. After increasing my protein shakes and water, and cutting back a lot on food, I’m shedding weight again. I am definitely going to talk with my doctor soon for more guidance on how to lose weight in a healthy way at this point in my journey.
Ty for mentioning about height and bmi. My BMI was 38 on day of surgery and I'm 5'1...I've had a few stalls and a couple of gains! I was getting very discouraged. I'm only 6 months out (or 5 and a few weeks) and since my very first start on this journey, I've lost 60+ lbs, but only 20 lbs since surgery. But your words have encouraged me and reminded me that I've got more to go. I'm also only losing % of pounds but didn't realize it was normal at this stage. So thanks for your information 🥰
Ugh I needed this!!! I am at 5.5 months and I have fluctuated between losing a couple pounds and gaining a couple. I stopped weighing myself every week to try and cut the anxiety with that. I am petite I’m only 5’3” built very small. My highest was 248 and I’m stalled between 165-170!! It’s so frustrating I only want to lose 25-30 more lbs. my relationship with food is INCREDIBLY healthy. I eat whole fresh produce daily! I will have a bite of my boyfriend’s pizza here and there but otherwise it’s boiled chicken salad variations FRESH FRUIT and fruit juice is what I constantly crave!!! I just broke a rib recently and can’t exercise as much as I’d like but I’m still taking walks. Getting in all the water and protein is very hard though! I fill up on so much produce!!!
Hi! i'm 6.5 months post op and feel like i've fallen off the wagon with what i eat. Do you have any recommendations on what helped you not binge or eat what you're not suppose to?
Thank you for sharing your experience. Plateaus can be frustrating, but it sounds like you're doing the right things with healthy food and daily exercise. How has your progress been since then?
Hi Ashley! Thanks for sharing your update. It's awesome that you're feeling good about where you are on your weight loss journey, even if it's a bit different from the initial goal. Your positive mindset is inspiring!
Im in my 6 month after ther gastric bypass, i was 283 and 6'1, and I've lost approximately about 70 lbs or so. But my thing lately within the ast 3 months or i think, I haven't been abke to eat anything without getting sick and not even able to smell food without getting. Is this normal in some cases? Also i might have a gained a pound or 2 back but really don't know where ita coming from because i dont eat smh lol. But overall i do drink my share of water and consume my vitamins, but within the laat couple of weeks im noticing im getting nausea from just drinking water!!!
I started experiencing a similar issue. It turned out it was stomach acid that was causing it for me. Which i didnt expect because it didnt present as heartburn like you would expect... I got back on omeprazole that was prescribed to me at the beginning which I now get over-the-counter through Amazon. I no longer get nauseous when I eat. Also I do not have to take as high of a strength nor do I need to take it every day. I just take it when I feel like I'm starting to get the symptoms back, maybe once a week.
Keep pushing! Remember that weight loss after surgery is not always linear, and there may be times where you don't see any change on the scale. Have you talked to your doctor or dietitian about your weight loss plateau?
