Did y’all start heading up the mountain way before dawn? Does the sun start melting the snow and make it dangerous to stay up at the summit that time of year or is it stay pretty cold? Just curious. Great video👍🏼
We started 7:30ish. But we were moving quickly (up and down under 4hrs). Even coming down there was a steady stream of people still going up despite common thought to start before dawn. Up high didn’t notice hardly any rock or ice fall. But that could be heavily dependent on the conditions of the individual day. If your a skier you’ll find much more favorable conditions later in the day. Snow was softening up nicely for the descent. It was hard and icy on the way up.
Skied the old chute. It was pretty hard but just forgiving enough to grab an edge. Definitely a no fall zone. Maybe a couple hrs later in the day would have made it a more enjoyable ski. However we cut over to the hogsback and skied down the east facing side and it was fantastic!
Yeah, I'm going to stick to chairlifts hahaha I was out of breath bringing my luggage into Timberline lodge

With so many people summiting I can understand why you went the road less travelled. Thanks for sharing.

GoPro on the end of a ski pole. Stabilization on the new GoPro’s is amazing. No gimbal!

Did you ski the old chute? Was it worth some of the fall risk at the top?
