When I speaking with Amex Canada over the phone. The rep told me that he was once talking to a woman who had 15 Platinum cards and 3 gold cards. When the rep asked her why he said that she just wants to keep things organized.
My thought has been mostly curiosity as to why they have a card limit rule at all. Total revolving credit limit makes sense as a risk factor, but I am not seeing the logic behind limiting the number of accounts. Say they only trust you with 10k of credit, why would it matter if that was 10k on one line or 5 lines of 2k each?
In Nov/2017, I cancelled my AmEx Hilton Surpass card as soon as I heard about the new Amex Hilton cards that were due to release in Feb/2018. I had already gotten the bonus Hilton Honors points with the Surpass card, so before they (AmEx) automatically replaced it with the Ascend card, I cancelled the Surpass card since I didn't want AmEx replacing the card and not be able to get the new Hilton Honors bonus points with the Ascend since I would have technically have owned the Ascend card sans bonus points. Once the new AmEx Hilton cards became available, I applied for the Ascend and I'm on my way of acquiring an extra 100,000 Hilton points after a minimum spend of $3,000 in 6 months (75,000 with a min spend of $2,000 in the first 3 months plus and extra 25,000 points for an additional spend of $1,000 within the first 6 months). I still have my original no-AF AmEx Hilton Honors card which is one of my keeper cards and also one of my oldest AmEx cards. I've learned so much from watching Ask Sebby and Credit Shifu videos! I need some advice on this topic. I have an Amex green card and it's less than a year old, I want the gold card though and knew that I can apply and have two charge cards at once. But they keep denying me because I had a returned payment in the past. This was due to an Amex rep setting up my bank account wrong, it since been fixed but they keep denying me for that reason and idk what else to do. My bank account now is successfully linked, before then I just used bill pay to pay my balance. I would really appreciate any suggestions for this situation!

Sebby, you should of cancelled the hilton card before the transfer. I never upgrade, because of those sign up bonus, I would only upgrade in the case of 5/24. I also review and keep my AMEX credit cards at 4 if I see something coming that I want as with the Aspire, I just completed my spend for those bonus points. The diamond status was instant, as soon as I was approved for the card, and that was sweet, since I was staying at a hilton within the following weeks.
Out of curiosity, when did you get your free night email? Still waiting on that; I've heard after the 2nd statement. Do you remember what the title of the email was?

The only other card that looks appealing is the Hilton Aspire card. I will be cancelling my Cap One card in the next year so will likely get aspire and maybe another card Chase, Navy Fed, or US Bank are my top prospects.

roxcyn This happened when I lost my job and I fell behind on payments due to unable to find employment. However they are the only bank that allowed me time to repay them back, which is why I really like American Express, I am glad to pay them back every dime.
roxcyn was 4 months but I called them and let them know of my situation, as soon as I paid off the Platinum card, they sent me a application for the Optima card , and Ive tried to apply for other Amex cards but applications get imediately rejected without a pull off credit report , because I'm currently blacklisted until I pay off last account.

Your next video has to be on Chase IHG massive devaluation. I am so glad I decided against rushing out to get that card before all links were scrubbed from the internet. If the new upcoming $89 annual fee card has no restriction on award nights I'll be glad I held out but given the language in the leak, I think it will be capped as well. All the data points for 6-card caps are people who had their Citi Hilton card converted. The actual limit is 5.

Probably not but there's no reason to cancel since AF isn't refunded after 30 days of it hitting.

What makes the no annual fee Hilton card a keeper card, in your opinion?
By definition, all no annual fee cards are keeper cards. At an absolute worst case, sockdrawer the card and they're still helping your credit score.
