- Welcome to my first REKA video! Today I'm giving an overview of one of the first demos for this new game set to release in 2024. REKA is an atmospheric, base-building, open-world travelling witchcraft game set in the woods. It's got potions, cooking, questing, and a giant travelling chicken house! I was very excited to get an early look at this new demo, and here's everything that we know so far about REKA!

Now THIS is a proper Baba Yaga game. I give this game the slav seal of approval.
I've always liked the character Baba Yaga, so the chicken legs got my attention, and the whole time I was watching this I was thinking pretty much exactly what Jazzy said word-for-word in his survival rant. Just add some threats in the spooky forest, a hunger mechanic, and a roguelike option (it's already proceedurally generated), and you got a kick-ass survival game here.
I like that it's not a survival game. It's a breath of fresh air.
I literally played the demo for hours. I cant wait for the full game.
I love that it's (just) a spooky looking cozy game 😊❤ and was quite happy that the demo doesn't have survival mechanics because I personally find them very stressful. I bought "don't starve together" with my friends and was soo stressed out when we played it that i decided to never touch it again. 😅
I propose that they implement multiplayer and house on house combat.
Ooh PvP, interesting. Do you think they would add that to a game without a whole lot of PvE?
@@JazzysGames Oh, no! I was just kidding. Honestly, I think this game probably would benefit from multiplayer features. I feel like it would need some more survival crafting elements and maybe something to actually oppose the player.
Quests are fine, but I have a suspicion you'd run out of things to actually do in a game like this, especially if you're not fond of the exploration or crafting loop.
Ok but I do wanna do cock fights with actual houses now.

Yeah it was a huge miss not making it survival. Might be a deal breaker for me personally since I can see myself getting bored quickly.
I will reserve judgement for now. Early Access coming in August!
Baba Yaga,,, Do you have to eat children?
I completely agree I want to like this game but I feel like it needs battle or danger in some sense. I know I’ll get bored if it feels like there’s no overarching story that I’m following or trying to finish.
I don’t want a survival game. I want relaxing
so Reka is basically Life is Strange. But without talking. And without time travel. And without searching for bottles in the junkyard.

No combat is a pass for me
Mäh, looks like they planing on make 1/4 of a game. No combat system, no encountering enemies, no story plot other then a very little one...but yeah its a neat world,,altough pretty empty....and a cool hut.

But it’s not even in Early Access yet?
Not every game needs to have a combat system, so the game will be coming out 4/4 of a game. It may not be your style but don't shit on a game before it even releases because you don't like cozy, casual games!
