The drums were introduced during the Napoleonic war era. English drummers started to tap their drums when a Scottish regiment passed them and this is where the Pipes and Drums was born and why it is known as a war band.
@@pipersplayI don’t think that it states that pipes were invented in Scotland…. It’s actually irrelevant when one plays, bonds with friends and simply enjoys the thrill of the instrument 😊

I was there as well, in a band from Essex (UK). Very vivid memories of the day.
Gordon walker is a friend of mine,his brother Colin taught me the tenor drum,Gordon was the queen’s personal piper
