Taylor all the way. I recently bought this guitar after trying out a dozen. It plays so well and cuts through. Sounds fantastic plugged in, too. Worth every penny
Thanks for your comment. I would say the 214ce plus is just a bit easier to play, mainly because the typical Taylor neck this one also uses is more refined than the one on the GPC 11e. Both guitars do come really close to eachother in sound.
I had the Taylor 214ce plus, good guitar, easy to play, not as stable, had to have a neck reset, maybe I over-humidified it, my bad?! Anyways I decided to sell it. I bought the Martin GPC 11e. I prefer the sound of the Martin over the Taylor, a bit more woody. And quite stable, even more so because of the richlite neck. The Martin is not quite as easy to play as the Taylor-an issue for an old man like myself with arthritis (I tune it down a bit from the 440 standard tuning which makes it easier to play - not a problem as l play don't without anyone else accompanying me.) And I am over-all quite happy with the Martin. The pick sounds better than the metallic sounding Taylor E2. But I still like Taylors, I have a Taylor 317 with a LR anthem pickup, which I dearly love!!
Can you please tell me which one would be a better guitar for an early intermediate player? I am looking for a long term versatile guitar :) Also, If I decide to upgrade, after 10 years will the outdated electronics affect the guitar's resale value?
You cant go wrong with any. Taylor offer brighter. Martin offer warmer/softer sounds. I'd love to have the martin, but wouldnt mind the taylor. Both sounds really good on their own.
The Taylor is laminated sides and back and not as stable, no bracing on the back panel and the 114 and 214 are known for multiple neck resets because of the less stable build quality.

What’s your preference between the two? Which neck & fretboard did you prefer (the Martin has a wider nut width).
