@@nfspbarrister5681 I can't wait to get out of this hospital so I can do this exact thing with this playing on my phone, my youngster ass neighbors know nothing about this right here
So dude, who introduced these old cats to these songs? I credit Cowboy Bebop for getting me into Jazz as a kid, and seeing old professionals like this get down to some of my favorite songs is something rare.
It's strange to have a semi-niche medium aimed at teenagers and people in their 20s like anime have a song be covered by an older and classy looking gentleman at a live jazz show. Over 20 years later and Cowboy Bebop remains my favorite and the best anime series ever.
One of my all-time favorite songs. As amazing as "Space Lion" is, this one just feels so much warmer and more personal. You can just feel every note in your soul. So beautiful, yet so painful. I love it so much.
just goes to show you that good blues and jazz can be appreciated by anyone of any age, culture, ethnicity or background, even if it is from an anime. seeing an american orchestra of a bunch of old guys playing some jazz or blues from a japanese anime is truly inspiring.

In case anyone wants to know, the tenor player is a guy named Hal Melia. I met him a couple times at a jazz camp, he is the embodiment of the term 'cool cat'
"Once, there was a tiger striped cat. This cat, died a million deaths, revived and lived a million lives. And he had various owners that he didn’t really care about, the cat wasn’t afraid to die. Then one day, he met a white female cat, the two of them fell in love and lived together happily. Well, the years went by and the white female cat got old and passed away. The tiger striped cat cried a million times, then he also died. But this time he didn’t come back."
I like the changes from the original version! Has more of an 80's feel? Don't know, I'm definitely not a music expert. It's a different flavor than the Seatbelts' take but I like it just as much
Most of the groups that cover this are younger groups that are trying to copy the way The Seatbelts did it because they're more familiar with it. With these guys, most of them probably aren't familiar so they're able to give it a fresh interpretation that we haven't heard before...which is awesome!
@@takigan these guys are experienced jazz players. Jazz is not supposed to be the same from artist to artist, he’ll even session to session with the same artist it’s supposed to change. Jazz is meant to be at least slightly improvisational and change depending on who is playing and WHEN they are playing. You can go see the same artist perform three nights in a row and the song would be slightly different but the message he is trying to get through to you remains the same. THATS jazz

I always hesitate to listen this music. Because this music takes my memories from 20th century. Ye, that was very good day. We were young with dreams. But this music also makes me realize this is not that era...this is so, so sad. And it makes me very gloomy...dangerous music...
Lmao I kinda feel the same way, not same thoughts but everytime I listen to bebop's ost, I really love listening to it but feel depressed, nostalgic and thoughtful. I also feel melancholic of something I never experienced. When I watch the anime, with the ost, I feel connected to it so I feel sad when one character dies or when one character remembers his past, etc... I get what you're saying when you say it's dangerous lol This ost is a masterpiece

Captain I mean considering these people’s age, they might’ve been the first generation of Bebop lovers
Yoko Kanno is pretty famous dude.
You think a kid watching toons came up with this? ; )
Correct
In 1999 I gave my Yoko Kanno soundtracks to several musician friends, they loved it. They never saw any anime.
