All Gren wanted was to know why Vicious betrayed him. Vicious was the definition of a true soldier, but the concept of comrade or friendship was meaningless to him he hated the fact Gren looked up to him. Vicious saw nothing but Spike in Gren and the times when he once had a friend which made him resent Gren even more. Vicious lost all emotion when Julia chose Spike over him feeling betrayed by the two people he thought cared about him. Vicious merely betrayed Gren to project his hatred of Spike on him so he can make someone feel the pain of betrayal he’s felt.
Vicious felt SOMEthing for Gren, but when it came down to it he chose self-preservation in testifying. Vicious is noticeably excited to see Gren one last time and almost seems disappointed when he thinks Gren just sent a woman
Vicious wasn't the definition of a soldier. One of those shows that transcends its genre and just becomes great content in general. I think Bebop is something everyone should watch at least once.
To label this the best anime of all time is underselling, this is one of the best pieces of television writing ever made, easily. I found Cowboy Bebop late at night on Adult Swim around 2000-2003. It really molded me as a person and has a huge influence on my taste & passion as an adult. Cowboy Bebop always has been & always will be very special to me.
I've never watched a piece of art that has made me cry on 1st viewing and ever since. An anime, movie, show, doesn't matter. The beauty alone of this episode is what moves me to tears.
Classic 90's world music. God i used to think world beat and world music were so cheesy when i was a kid. Songs like this make me appreciate it more tho
It's not anime. It's art. It transcends the genre. It moves beyond it into something greater. A narrative that you'll never see again. If you're seeing this though... you know that already, don't you? What say we give it another watch?
"...The bounty hunters, who are gathering in the spaceship "BEBOP", will play freely without fear of risky things. They must create new dreams and films by breaking traditional styles. The work, which becomes a new genre itself, will be called... COWBOY BEBOP"
Cowboy Bebop is full of hardcore softies... Every character is infinitely layered and never you get the feeling that the story is cheesy. And that's just 26 episodes... Love the Gren theme.
I have the entire series. I still watch this episode and, pardon my language, GOD DAMN I still love this ending and the song years later. Bravo Cowboy Bebop...Bravo!
I can't believe the many times I came across Cowboy Bebop I didn't even consider watching it until recently. I thought the show would be some kind of comedic western. I like anime that gets dark, deep thinking, and hit serious subjects. Boy was I wrong about this show and I'm glad I experienced. Cowboy Bebop is timeless for a show that aired in the late 90s. It ages very very well. If this show was to air this year, the story line would still be considered fresh and original compared to others. How many times you watch a show or movie and you can guess what happens next because of the predictability of the writing. Cowboy Bebop is a gem and I can see why this show was one of the first few big animes to be successful in the west. From the stunning visuals, chill soundtrack, great English voice work (I realized Steve Blum the voice of T.O.M, voiced Spike), to the little sayings after each episode. This will go down as one of my favorite animes, and I'm not even a huge anime guy. See you space cowboy.
After watching this episode, I knew this was going to be something special. There was a sudden vertigo feeling that, although this anime was excellent before hand, had now transformed. I knew this anime was going to change not only the way I thought about anime, but the way I thought about life itself.
I have replayed this scene more times than I could count, this is not only my favorite anime scene, it is my favorite television scene of all time. Nothing can compare to the beautiful melancholy.
TheDukeofDan - I’ve done the same thing many times. It just transports you to a special place. Not a happy place but a deep place, just you and your emotions.
I owe so much to this show . Two days after finishing the finale , I checked into a psychiatric ward because I was about to kill myself . I have been a slave to my past tragedies and relationships for years . Always reminiscing, wondering what could have been . I realized that I was pushing myself into total insanity . Im not sure if I didnt have the perspective that I gained from this show … i dont know if I would have done the right thing . Was listening to this song on repeat as well as the song Call Me . Its like i was staring at myself over a puddle . Unable to process emotions properly or speak out to others . Cowboy Bebop saved my life
I feel like gren was pretty lonely for his entire life, with how he was "attracted" to the idea of comrades and just wanted to "be around" faye. This tells me that he just wanted to feel wanted by someone, so when he was betrayed by vicious, someone who he felt a genuine connection with, it really got to him and he just couldn't accept it. So he wanted to go and kill vicious so that he could finally be at peace with himself before finally going off to die on titan, the place where for once in his life, he actually had a genuine connection with someone.

To think Netflix thinks they " fixed" this deep emotional, anime by being the most basic western " action" series devaluing everything to be just super horny, foul mouth, and the abomination they are trying to pass off as Gren.
I mean the character doesn’t look bad at all they were just very poorly implemented into the show and into Gren’s role, not a bad character but definitely not as good as Gren
They changed the character drastically but not sure why. I think that the direction of Vicious’ character and Julia’s on netflix must have made Garen original story too difficult to integrate. Still an odd choice as they made him like a random character ..maybe I was an hommage..I dunno man hahha
Netflix gren is the same as everything to do with the show still good its just NOT cowboy bebop, not the same and should be considered detached from the original.
I remember listening to this soundtrack while I was coming back from work on my car it started raining with thunder and felt really sublime and it definitely felt like I was tripping (I was sober tho) one of the best experiences ever it really made me think about my unfinished business on this earth and I should be thankful for what I have, again I was sober and yet it was one of the best trips ever
This is amazing. I was thinking: please, Watanabe, I love this, you're a fine director, don't cut to the usual ending and instead continue this music with the credits... And he did!
Sabrina, your star went out 2 years, 1 month, and a day ago, and it still only feels like it just happened, but.. through the times we had for all those years, I've never known a love like what we shared. You were one of a kind, a sweet song and a strange lilting tune all your own. Your memories, our memories, they always put me back on my feet to keep going. You fought your battle, and met the end of your story in peace. My journey continues as it did, for as long as I can, just like I know you'd have wanted, and when ours stars meet at last, somewhere out in space, that will be a magnificent day once again.
This was in my opinion the best episode, and I just slowly nodded my head in acknowledgment. Gren was truly a tragic deuteragonist who just wanted to know why his best comrade betrayed him, ending up with years taken from him, and his body ruined from experimentation. When he realized all was truly lost ad near death, he could only recall the war on Titan side by side with his "comrade" as the best years of his life, and he requested to be sent back there, reminiscing as he slowly fades from life. Had such an effect on the main characters that they begin deep contemplation, Laughing Bull's wisdom, and that track just made it more complete. This is a masterpiece!
@@12345678900987659101 I see how you could make that association given the scene that the song is in. I don't know myself, but one thing is for sure. It's beautiful to listen to.
The song and the scene go hand in hand. It's an incredible feeling watching this scene for the first time, and hearing the track. "The tear of a warrior...."
Scene breakdown: Sax solo, Spike helping his lost bounty in an unexpected gesture of gratitude, making ammends with Jet with simple diaogue, Faye pondering about everything she experienced, and innocent Ed totally oblivious to recent events. Cue Laughing bull quoting again words that suddenly make much more sense and hit deep inside of you. The two-part episode comes to an end, the camera pans away into the stars, and the volume in crescendo is now much more evident, so much so that you need to lower the volume not to wake your folks up, for its late night 1999, and tomorrow is school day. Credits roll away as you listen to Space Lion for the first time, while fascinated by weird kanji. Something magical happened and you just know it. Years will go by, you will still carry that weight, but will every now and then come back to feel young again with this video. It's simply perfect. It's simply Cowboy Bebop.
When I saw this series for the first time, it was at this episode finale that I truly knew I was watching art. An anime that would change my life forever when I was at my lowest point and I've come back ever since to try to recapture what I felt that very first time.
This is when I realized that Anime can give me goose bumps and really tell a fantastic story. I can’t even give credit to how masterful this series is. …seee ya space cowboy.

Probably the first time I remember anime bringing a tear to my eye. Most people would say that's corny but those that are here watching this know otherwise. Hardcore man.
Chris Brown - I understand what you mean. I’ve watched this scene many times and it takes me to a special place.
This shit makes me cry everytime
This is literally cinema in anime
@@elchinoguerito8915the entire team that worked on this show are geniuses. It’s astounding the level of talent they had….
“Julia huh” Faye definitely had strong feelings for spike.
Spike's feelings for Julia were stronger.
@@BB-qs7rl and after Julia death spike died with her ! He had nothing to live anymore … he never got trough this past …
@@miguelalejandro4357 I feel like you kinda missed the point of the final episodes, Spike didn’t go there because of Julia, he went there to validate the life he lived after what happened, he had to know that everything that happened, was real.
No
I don't believe Faye is jealous of Julia by saying that but I can understand why you think that.
A raw, genuine show with incredible cinematography, great attention to details and absolutely killer soundtrack. It's one in a million, really.
This is the episode that officially got me into Cowboy Bebop. When the credits roll, I think to myself, "This show is amazing."
Go Eagles!
SAME!
EXACTLY! I let the credits roll as I sit there and think about how hard it hit me
_DO YOU HAVE A COMRADE?_
Damn, this has to be one of, if not my favorite, pieces of television ever.
One of those shows that transcends its genre and just becomes great content in general.
I think Bebop is something everyone should watch at least once.
FinalFirebrand I agree with this. Bebop is the greatest anime ever, greatest shows ever. I'm in love with it
It is poetry. It stays with you after you’ve finished the series.
To label this the best anime of all time is underselling, this is one of the best pieces of television writing ever made, easily. I found Cowboy Bebop late at night on Adult Swim around 2000-2003. It really molded me as a person and has a huge influence on my taste & passion as an adult. Cowboy Bebop always has been & always will be very special to me.
periodt!!!
*"What are you bringing in."*
*... Nothing...*

Hurry up and get inside, we're taking off
@@Monorat it's nothing special but goddamn it's powerful. 😭
@@XxDjinn420xX They just be ride or die bros like that
@@XxDjinn420xX i think it is very philosophical.
This Ending is so Haunting and Beautiful.
Definitely one of the Best Moments of the Show.
Gren deserved a Better Life. Plain and Simple...
This scene to me is just further proof of why cowboy bebop is the best anime ever made imo
Agreeed
I've never watched a piece of art that has made me cry on 1st viewing and ever since. An anime, movie, show, doesn't matter. The beauty alone of this episode is what moves me to tears.
Classic 90's world music. God i used to think world beat and world music were so cheesy when i was a kid. Songs like this make me appreciate it more tho
I love that this show has literally every genre of music in it.
The song gives me a Blade Runner vibe for some reason
Well, Blade Runner was a great influence :)
“That is not an ordinary star, my son. That star is the tear of a warrior.”
Crazy i saw this show well over 15 years ago and everytime i go back to it it still resonates what a masterpiece
definitely had me in my feels
still does. damn near bout to cry at my desk and i cant figure out why
You got that right. It packs an emotional punch.
I remember I was watching it with a chick and felt like crying but didn’t wanna look weak so I held back the tears lol😅
I'm here for SPACE LION
"Oh Ed, anything but Blue."
When it's all over in the final episode, the song that carries the story away, is 'Blue'
This anime is indeed great and yes I watched this anime on Netflix twice and right now I'm watching the Japan dub on tubi.
This was the first episode of any adult anime i ever saw. Just happened on it one night alone on tv
Brandon William Sounds like a beautiful night.
For those that don't know, in the finale credits multiple stars fade out for the main characters that are lost.
Netflix really wasted the opportunity to reuse this scene by totally retconning Gren in the live action adaptation
It's been over 25 years, and I think it's safe to say, nothing is ever going to be this good again
This scene gave me an existential crisis when I was younger 😭
"That's not a shooting star, young man. It's the tear of a warrior. A lost soul who has finished his battles somewhere on this planet.
A pitiful soul who could not find his way to the lofty realm where the great spirit awaits us."
I get it now...you're the one aren't you? You're Spike. Julia was always talking about you; your eyes are different colors. I remember her saying that...Said you'd get a strange feeling if you kept looking straight into his eyes
Heartbreaking, and an absolute masterpiece of art.
To think Netflix thinks they " fixed" this deep emotional, anime by being the most basic western " action" series devaluing everything to be just super horny, foul mouth, and the abomination they are trying to pass off as Gren.
Gren and Anastacia as well 😭
Look how they massacred gren in the netflix adaptation, geez.
nigga its deadass the exact same lmaoooo
I mean the character doesn’t look bad at all they were just very poorly implemented into the show and into Gren’s role, not a bad character but definitely not as good as Gren
They changed the character drastically but not sure why. I think that the direction of Vicious’ character and Julia’s on netflix must have made Garen original story too difficult to integrate. Still an odd choice as they made him like a random character ..maybe I was an hommage..I dunno man hahha
The woke agenda is disgusting aye? Ruining art.
Netflix gren is the same as everything to do with the show still good its just NOT cowboy bebop, not the same and should be considered detached from the original.
This episode always makes me cry. Every. Single. Time. I miss you big brother. Bang.
Jupiter Jazz was a magical experience
This was one of the most memorable scenes in Cowboy Bebop that I enjoyed in Highschool. The music gets me every time.
What are you bringing in? -Jet
Nothing- Spike
Hurry up and get inside, we're taking off- Jet
Hmm- Spike
By far my favourite Cowboy Bebop episode
I remember listening to this soundtrack while I was coming back from work on my car it started raining with thunder and felt really sublime and it definitely felt like I was tripping (I was sober tho) one of the best experiences ever it really made me think about my unfinished business on this earth and I should be thankful for what I have, again I was sober and yet it was one of the best trips ever
This was my favorite episode of all time. So much depth I cried for days
Watching this episode of Bebop was the last thing I did with my friend before he killed himself... Wakan Tanka guide his spirit.
I was in a very similar predicament.. but I went and got help at the hospital. This show pulls it out of you and there is no hiding it .
I rewatched this today and I cried more than I should’ve.
The last part just messed with me it made me feel sad but just marvel on how beautiful it was
This is amazing. I was thinking: please, Watanabe, I love this, you're a fine director, don't cut to the usual ending and instead continue this music with the credits... And he did!
just magnificent. cowboy bebop is the kind of skillful creation that worms its way into your soul effortlessly and stays there forever.
Hugs brother.
This is a masterpiece!
you feel african vibe when you hear this song and that's great
djef ardeur yeah Space Lion is a great song.
right
It is a tribal beat and chant sample. It reminds me of sun over a field of grain.
Always thought it sounded Native American.
@@12345678900987659101 I see how you could make that association given the scene that the song is in. I don't know myself, but one thing is for sure. It's beautiful to listen to.
This scene was so great the scenes and the music all together felt like a movie what a great episodes
Something about two of those shots of Jet just sitting still are so powerful...
R. I. P. GREN 😢
Thanks couldn’t find this on youtube
Bird Man where are you writing this
Denzell Jackson America
My bad I thought you were on the RUclips
Bird Man no problem,I couldn't find the dub either.
When I saw this series for the first time, it was at this episode finale that I truly knew I was watching art. An anime that would change my life forever when I was at my lowest point and I've come back ever since to try to recapture what I felt that very first time.
It’s like 99% of TV is just mesmerizing and offers nothing else, but Cowboy Bebop offered you a cathartic story.
I have watched this clip so many times and it never gets less beautiful or tragic
This is when I realized that Anime can give me goose bumps and really tell a fantastic story. I can’t even give credit to how masterful this series is.
…seee ya space cowboy.
The ost from 4:50 onwards is what wins me.
I watched this series with my mate on acid, when the credits rolled it was amazing
this show is good bruh "that star is a tear of a warrior"
My god this ending gives me chills everytime
A pitiful soul, rest in peace.
Bro... that sax... every time, man.
I am glad I did not watch this show until I was older, or I never would’ve understood the gravity of the storytelling. Truly one of a kind.❤
Laughing bulls quote at the end is deep and powerful
The scene itself is brilliant, but my god the MUSIC. Bebop is amazing
Spike is so desperate to find Julia. The longing he has for her always feels so painful to me.
This is the best show of all time.
Goosebumps again and again...Every time I watch this peace of art
4:15 always give me goosebumps!
The music of Cowboy Bebop is what made me love jazz
This show has moved me to tears on several occasions
Cowboy bebop is just magic, there’s just no other word to describe it, it’s fucking magic. I watched it on adult swim as a kid and it made me feel things no other show could, and it still does to this day.
Subjectively the best scene in the whole anime
"That is not an ordinary star my son, that is a tear of a Warrior... A lost soul who has finished his battle somewhere on this planet. A pitiful soul so who could not find his way to the lofty realm where the great spirit awaits us all."
This really is the most beautiful show ever made.
The older I get, the more I feel I understand this story
'oh ed, anything but blue' gets me everytime 🥲
“Oh Ed, anything but blue” Fae really was feeling blue that night back at the ship about someone she didn’t know (Julia) I love this crew to bits
She said that because Gren's apartment building is blue.
And the club was the Blue Crow where he performed
