Thanks, Jose! This is helpful! My son who is black, specifically from Ethiopia, wants to move to Miami in a few years (when he turns 18). I’ve warned him of the cost of living being high there and also about the racism but I think his mind is set on going, at least for now. We currently live in Austin, TX and previously lived in Los Angeles, CA.
I enjoyed this video not thinking about moving to Florida but this video was an eye opener. Black folks are still affected by institutional racism. You have to want something to get something the skies are not the limit, its just the start. Thank you for this much needed information. God bless
I found this video very well put together and informative. However, especially as an active police officer in Florida, there was a big issue I noticed early on in the video. Numbers and statistics aren’t everything when it comes to how policing is done. For example, you continually compare homicide rates among blacks to overdose deaths among white. That’s like comparing apples and oranges. Race has nothing to do with it. There is going to be a much larger and serious response to VIOLENT crime because it has a much larger impact in the community and creates a ton of collateral damage. Somebody overdosing quietly in their home… yeah that’s not going to make the news, you’re correct.
Thanks for your input sir. Its awesome to see people in law watching the videos. The point i wanna drive home to people who believe they are better than others is.. perhaps not so. If your better than you wouldn’t be in more propensity to die from drugs. Its a brutal delivery but one that needs to he made. If your really better by race, explain this.
We welcome you in Florida and thank you for your service. A nice new area off of I 75 near Mocassin Wallow Rd in Manatee county is being developed soon.

I used to spend a lot of my summers in Gilchrist County, since I have family members there. At first it feels like a beautiful country area with serene farmland along with all the natural springs and the Suwannee river and the massive oak trees. It really feels beautiful along 129. Yet even when I was a kid I always got an uneasy feeling there, it feels very unfriendly and hostile to outsiders. I wouldn't wanna venture on the country roads after dark. Beyond that, Trenton and Bell feel like they belong to Georgia or Alabama kinda life. So glad we didn't move out here, no opportunities to get ahead. And people wanna say that country life is better. Brevard County has only gotten worse in crime and racism in recent years. Can't even drive around Melbourne at night anymore without seeing a bunch of police patrolling across the entire city. Increase in shootings as well throughout neighborhoods. It's a shame because even as recent as 10 year's ago Melbourne and Palm Bay were some of THE cities in Florida people wanted to move to, Melbourne at one point felt like a nice place to be, but I agree there's just too many systematic problems here. You can just tell with people's interactions and expressions that the locals living here are just unhappy with their lives.
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS Trenton is a dying town. The only traffic light in the county is right at the historical town center at 26 and 129. The only growth there has been a McDonald's, a Dollar General, and a grocery store (which did open as a Walmart neighborhood market), which I guess is better than other nearby towns with no investments at all, probably because you're just outside Gainesville (which isn't all that much for being a big Florida city). A few years ago I'd imagine that Gilchrist was a place that people were moving to to escape the more unaffordable parts of Florida. The rivers and all the springs and the natural country settings makes it a very beautiful place. It's such a shame that it's such a very awful uncomfortable county to live in. Georgia passed voting laws because Black people voted Trump out in 2020. Up North, the civilians can’t just outright practice racism on other civilians. Down South, Ahmad Aubrey.. Trayvon Martin.
