- The good guys at Union Car Spares in Whangarei were able to piece together this 3" OME lift kit suited for your KZN185 or RZN185 Hilux Surf.
With a bit of swearing we install it in the back yard and take it for a run down the road.
Give the good guys a call and order yours today!

Awesome! Look forward to hearing how it feels on your next trip with the car loaded up.
I dont know why but old man emu shocks on a hilux surf just feels right
Looking good maté can you please send some of that sunshine up here in the north Island
looking good
Hows your wheel alignment after the lift ?
Nice rig. What are the tire and rim specs?
Great build so far, looks great, sounds awesome, are you going to get a new wheel alignment after the new lift ? And i guess a cert later on ?
Indeed to both. Will go through the hole cert process too.
How much for the suspension. Few lifts kits around between 1000 an 1800
Did you end up getting a dif drop ?
Yeap! Solved the issue of pulling CV's out of sockets. Has been operating at it should do since.
Hey mate is that a KRAE intake snorkel? Looks neat, very difficult to find anyone to do a snorkel for me in Sydney..
Made by Southern Lakes Engineering in Cromwell. Theres a short chat about it on my Whangamonona Video
Looking forward to seeing the MCC tube bar, what sort of power increase have you got with the turbo on the 3rz? Over 200hp?
There is a few niggly issues holding the power back. At this stage its NEAR 200hp, needs a sensor moved to get over 200. So a few more tweaks and it should be right!
Hey, nice build. Do you have any problems with 285s rubbing anywhere on the guard ?
They will rub on the rear of the inner wheel arch. There is a seam on the body there that needs to be hammered or cut flush for the wheel to pass without rub.
Truck sounds awesome what's it look like under the hood now?
Full haha for lack of a better word. But goes well and definitely doesn't look stock anymore
I've got 33s on my Hilux ssrx surf with 2 inch lift kit on but it rubs in the front against the metal on the front right tyre left side where the mud flaps go how can I get solve this ??
It sounds harsh but angle grinder. I've gone and cut back that fold of body panel flush with the inner guard. Haven't rubbed since! Message me on FB and I can send photos - 4x4 Monthly NZ
How do we know when your next trip is to tag along?
Tag-alongs are available through certain tiers of Patreon. Thanks for the interest though!
how much did it all cost
Would you need a brake line extension for a 2" body lift, or is it only for anything above 2"?
with the 2" suspension lift you won't need the brake extension, unsure about the body lift.
Hi there. What would you advise with sway bar end links?. And the sway bar itself .. correction .
Oh and what engine mods
Thanks
All my sway bar links are still stock at this stage. They seem to be surviving, but definitely a little stretched out. A company in the states build extended links but they are around $300 landed in NZ I think. So thats a goal for later. I have also heard you can swap the front links to the back and get gen2 links for the front to even things out but havent looked into it. Alternatively you could cut them and weld in an extension.
Engine mods are:
GT30 turbo, Haltech ECU, 750cc injectors, 255lpm Fuel pump tuned on very low boost as the engine hasn't been opened yet
@4X4 Monthly NZ thanks very much .. really appreciate .. that's a good power increase ..
I have nearly the same OME parts in mine. Stuck with 16-in rims. What size tire are you running? I'm going to increase mine when these wear out.
Wicked! I'm running 285/75R16s (almost 33" tyres)
@@lostsheepadventures I think that's probably what I'm going to go with. Thanks, amigo.
Can you please help me and you do that to my Toyota hilux Surf
Best to chat with your local mechanic to sort out the install.
do you need a cert
Yes, you will need a cert for 3" lift.
petrol surf?
Yeah mate, RZN185. 3RZ-FE + T
