*I thought the names of kings in Game of Thrones were long.*
But then I met "Darius the great, king of kings, king of countries containing all kinds of men, king in this great earth far and wide, by the favor of Ahura Mazda these are the countries which I seized outside of Persia; I ruled over them; they bore tribute to me; they did what was said to them by me; they held my law firmly; Media, Elam, Parthia, Aria, Bactria, Sogdia, Chorasmia, Drangiana, Arachosia, Sattagydia, Gandara, India, the haoma-drinking Scythians, the Scythians with pointed caps, Babylonia, Assyria, Arabia, Egypt, Armenia, Cappadocia, Lydia, the Greeks, the Scythians across the sea, Thrace, the petasos-wearing Greeks, the Libyans, the Nubians, the men of Maka and the Carians."

Title of the Portuguese King, in 1815-1822:
Dom João VI, pela Graça de Deus, Rei do Reino Unido de Portugal, Brasil e dos Algarves, d'Aquém e d'Além-Mar em África, Senhor da Guiné e da Conquista, Navegação e Comércio da Etiópia, Arábia, Pérsia e Índia, etc.
[EN] By the Grace of God, King of the United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil, and the Algarves on this side of the seas and beyond them in Africa, Lord of Guinea and of Conquest, Navigation, and Commerce of Ethiopia, Arabia, Persia, and India, etc.

I have a channel for every hair on his head
And every one is fascinating.
Getting an ad for every hair too.
Classic British tactic: divide & conquer. lol
Yes and he is one of those no hair on head so let's compensate with a full beard guys
Darius was the ruler of thee greatest empire ever existed. 44% of the living population on earth lived under his rule. The infra structure he planned are still the basics for now days. But history shows that every thing has its ups and downs.
Thanks I am King Darius
Darius also upheld the decree of Cyrus to rebuild Jerusalem and the Temple because Jehovah is God, not Allah.

The Epic beard is one profe of the Reinkarnation. 🤫
I love how some of the people he conquered were separated by the ones that drink this stuff, the hat wearing Greeks and the guys that wear the pointy hats. 🤣
You must mean the Scythians, in both cases. The Thracians -like the ones who killed Aristagoras- were Scythians too. In ancient greek art on pots the Persians wear the pointy Phrygian knit-cap (a beanie) which must be the same as the Scythians'. By big-hat (correctly meaning sun-hat) Greeks, the Persians meant the Macedonians...

@@amirhedayati8091 True, but Darius III was their last king
@@rockgod6180 And one of our worst kings.
@@rockgod6180 That idiot learned nothing from his battle with Alexander. He still thought he can win just because he had the numbers and could win with full attack.
Most historians agree on the fact that any half-decent leader could've easily stopped Alexander before he could even enter the Persian territories. Darius III was greatly incompetent and a giant coward! During the last stand where he fled the country and left a competent general Ariobarzanes in charge, they nearly defeated Alexander's army at the peak of their power! Alas by that point it was too late and the defending Persian army was simply too weak compared to Alexander's

Loved the presentation Simon gives to all hosted websites he does. Thank you for sharing and i hope theses websites stay so much one can learn.

We proud of him. Thanks for video
You make an excellent point about Darius's rise, which is how he tried to make himself related to Cyrus the Great. Cyrus left such an effect on not only the Empire he created, but also on Persia itself. For 2,500 years all the way up to the last Shah of Persia, the many various rulers of Persia enforced their legitimacy by claiming to be descended from Cyrus the Great, and that they were continuing his legacy. And as we learn in this video, Darius was the first to do that. As for another detail about his rise, the good news is that the Persians had soap back then so after fondling Darius's horse, at least Oebares could wash his hands.

Darius the Great become the king he won like 20 battle against 9 or more different rival Darius won more battle he also won war vs Greeks , Scythians and others
What battles did Darius fight?
It was not Phidipedes who inspired the Marathon race. It was another anonymous runner. Phidipedes was the most famous Greek runner who at the time of the battle was trying to convince the Spartans for help and for this reason run from Athens to Sparta. This run has inspired the modern ultra-marathon race of Spartathlon.
Would you ever consider doing a video on Sir John A. MacDonald? Look forward to your vids every week best wishes from Canada.
