Florida windmill ban goes into effect along with text removing "climate change"

- The state of Florida currently has zero windmills operating on land or offshore, and some Republican legislators want to keep it that way. In May, Gov. DeSantis signed HB 1645 into law, going into effect July 1. According to the language of the law, it "Prohibits the construction or expansion of an offshore wind energy facility, including buildings, structures, vessels, and electrical transmission cables to the site. A wind turbine or wind energy facility within one mile of a coastline-defined as the mean high water line. A wind turbine or wind energy facility within one mile of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway or Gulf Intracoastal Waterway. A wind turbine or wind energy facility on state waters and submerged lands." Opponents of the new law tell ABC Action News reporter Michael Paluska they are wondering why it is necessary.

@cameronf3343 I agree. Every time there's a major hurricane in FL, our rates go up within a year here in Ohio. I don't live by the ocean and expect everyone else to offset my rebuild costs. They can pay for their own paradise.

You literally can’t get worse than that.
The bar to get over is in hell and then lower still when it’s based on the ability to be cleaner than fossil fuel power plants.
Windmills are not "clean energy" and are a huge threat to wildlife especially birds.
There's no such thing as clean energy! Second of all wind and solar are so poor at generating electricity it has to have backup from some form of fuel type energy to keep the electricity going not to mention all the wildlife and trees that have to be displaced and killed just to use that so called green energy that is heavily subsidized by the taxpayers
@@robertrossman3703 That is a bit misleading. A power plant can be compared to a super charger on an engine- it consumes power, but the net power out is much greater- for a power plant or windmill, orders of magnitude higher power out than in. If a power plant, or wind farm loses power from the grid to operate critical systems- electronics that control functions, they often have diesel backup, but the power in is much smaller than power out, and temporary. As far as manufacturing, sure it pollutes, but not as much as most methods of generation, not even close.

Even Texas disagrees!
"In 2022, Texas generated about 25% of its electricity from wind power, and renewable resources overall accounted for about 25% of the state's electricity net generation. This includes solar, hydroelectric, and biomass sources. In 2023, wind power accounted for 28.6% of Texas' energy generation."
"Texas's solar energy production also grew 47% from 2021 to 2022, and in 2022 the state produced enough electricity from solar, wind, and geothermal power to meet 31% of its electricity consumption. 👉When combined with nuclear power, Texas generates almost 40% of its energy from carbon-free sources.
