Of Monsters and Men is one of my favorite bands and they basically defined my childhood. And I really really wanted to like this album but it just didn’t strike with me at all. I feel like they’ve lost the magic that originally drew me to them. My head is an animal and beneath the skin both had this unique quality that could transport you to a whole different world. As much as I wish they’d stuff to their alt folk roots, I do respect the fact that they’re changing styles and experimenting. This just sounds so one dimensional to me. Reminds me of the fact that I’m growing up and bands won’t always stay the same. At least I can still hang on to the nostalgia from the first album.
sxphie my problem with the new album is it sounds exactly what all indie/alternative bands are doing and losing the real instruments and subbing them in for electronic and auto tune. We know how beautiful their voices are and how magical their instrumentals can be so it hits even harder. It sounds nothing like their two albums. Now, I have no problem with electronic, it’s just that this band wasn’t. Plus I didn’t find very many songs interesting. One was straight up annoying. So it was a bit disappointing from them.
Deep state selling out? Maybe they have been compromised? Since the singular eye imagery is really telling. Not to mention when you consider Poppy's yt channel.
