Excellent video as always! I love these shorter videos where you're just getting out your thoughts, wouldn't mind them in addition to your usual in depth reviews! I'm actually heavily considering picking up a gravity pro since they are on sale with the 2023 models coming out. Current racquet is the 2019 prestige tour. Excited for your racquet of the year! My guess is the Speed Pro
Thanks Matt! Prestige Tour is nice, basically what Murray used for the start of the year but different string pattern, and different composition Make sure you pre-measure the Gpro before buying, otherwise you'll get some crazy spec haha
I just got a Regna from Japan, if you get 1 there, the price is no different to a prestige or gravity. I added lead, 2 grams to 12, 1.5 to 3 and 9. This brings the racket to 337 swing weight. My racket was under specced at 307, so the total now is 312 unstrung, its still the fastest racket I have ever played with. With these modifications I now have the same if not more put away power than my pure strike which I loved. Highly recommend adding lead to bring the sw to 335-340. With this racquet you won't even feel it. It is the best racket I have ever played with. Ball goes excatly where I want it to.
Actually the Gravity pro was leaked in a video a month ago and in talk tennis forums some very well known testers and head rackets experts have confirmed a Gravity pro is due in April, same specs plus auxetic but with one of the best paint jobs ever made, lucky I caught it before they removed it 😂
Another awesome video with detailed analysis. As for racquet of the year, I'm gonna guess it's either the Wilson Blade 98 v8 or the Head Extreme Tour! Keep up the great work!
This is a great video. I really enjoyed it mostly because I feel I am on a very similar journey. I am a 4.0 player with a one-hand backhand who also relies on first serve for free points. I have been on quite the racquet journey over the last few years but funny enough, the Gravity Pro always comes back into my hand and it is what I play with now (the first version). I also have a PAVS, XT Prestige Pro, Dunlop CX 200+ and Yonex Vcore 95/97D that I still have in my bag but the Gravity is just so much of an easier racquet to use though the specs of it almost suggest that it shouldn't be. I like how you have nailed down what you like or want in a racquet and I am of very similar preferences. I realised that 20mm is the perfect beam thickness for me and to have that uniform through the racquet. Also a swingweight between 330 - 340 with a lower flex and the directional control / launch of an 18 x 20. Hence, why I gravitate towards the Gravity Pro since it meets these well. I am pretty sure that an Auxetic Gravity Pro will come out next year. I don't have a reliable source besides tennis forums but I don't see why they would discontinue it. I am going to explore Angell racquets though. Have you ever played one? I like that they let you customise your specs. So I am looking to get their 97inch model which has a 20mm beam thickness. It also allows the option of extended lengths from 27.25" all the way to 28" though 27.25" is as far as I would go. So for me, this would be where I go to next as I think alongwith exploring the Gravity Pro Auxetic. I am curious to know what you will venture to next.
It's all about the serve. Fascinating and accurate that you naturally mention this first. Absolutely. It's a central consideration for many players game styles. Crucial for me. One thing tho, we not see much footage of u serving... game play is illustrative and I understand u prob not think we interested but praps footage shld illustrate the points made? Also praps some interleaved close-ups (stills) of beam, throat, handle when mention, ugh maybe too much work? Great vid!
Haha yeah it's just a quick update video, i've done all reviews on these frames in the past with detailed breakdown, so i wasn't going to try and spend too much time finding all the cuts to each specific thing i was speaking about otherwise it'd take too long
Love your reviews and i have hit most of the same racquets and alternate between the Ezone 98, Ezone Tour, Strike and Aero VS. I'd put money on the Extreme Tour as your racquet of the year. The new Auxetic version is a vast improvement and my favourite Head.
Weird, no head extreme tour / blade 98 / cx 200. Lately I've been taking a vcp 97l (about 315 sw and 290g), I added 10g of silicon in the handel, 5 grams of lead tape (4 at 10 and 2 and 1 at 12), brought my racket with overgrip and string bear 330 with a 325 sw, wow wow I've never had a better frame. Did it with the vdm team (all green 2019) and the 2021 model I love the 2019! Incredible spin and comfort, stable yet manœuvrable, easy on the arm, a must try!
Whilst all good racquets, it's going to take alot to beat the Gravity Pro, people don't realize how good it is for those who enjoy using it, nothing can quite match it, which is why i haven't switched 🙂
@@ACTennis I k'ow, I know, I've been playing 1 year with the gravity tour. Favorite frame ever BUT worst quality control ever, my 2 last were 292 grams (!!) / sw 309 and 309 grams, sw 341. That's a shame and I hut myself with it. Now, I take one day off and I visit several shops, measuring weight and swingweight before buying. I found a very nice boom pro at 297 grams / sw 307.
Something I'm super curious about is whether you notice the difference in twist weight between the v1 an v2 Gravities in any of your strokes, particularly your backhand. Like you, I love just about everything about my (under-spec v1) Gravity but often find myself late when hitting my OHBH. I'm wondering whether the v2 might help in this respect.
Backhand is a little sluggish with specs that i have at 332g, 330 SW, around 6pts HL, that was my v1 , my v2 is 327g, 330sw and 5pts HL or so and thst 5g static was a big help for me, still relatively stable (not as much for free but works) - not entirely sure of the twistweight i didnt measure it, but ive had instances in the past where static weight had been the biggest factor when all else is good (whether add or subtracting)
I had last year's Extreme Tour (non-auxetic). I hated it. If his current racquet is a 18x20, I don't understand why he would go from that to a very open 16x19 that has nowhere near the same level of directional control.
Put on a leather grip on your Pure Strike 16 x 19 on and you are good to go regarding swingweight. there is a lot of good offers on the PS gen 3 atm. buy 3. get the one you need and send the rest back. I bought 3 16 x 19 3. gen recently and they are all spot on regarding weight and swingweight and within 1 gram from eachother. im going to buy a lotto ticket also.
Not yet. im more of a last year model guy. i like the discounts and like to find the overseen rackets like the Instinct 2022 a better Pure Drive but 1/3 of the price..... and the prices for the new iterations/models are quite insane. and the improvements if any are very little. Thoughts: My guts tells me the pure Strikes gen 3 was already close to perfection regarding balance of power, control, stiffness, string pattern etc..its highly recommended by users overall if you see and read the buyers recomendations on the sale websites. long positve writings. not many rackets get that praised taht much by users. almost like its an holy grail discovered. What they have changed with the gen 4 is the RA which means its now lower powered and they changed the vibration tech to be less in the racket and instead of elastic rubber in the buildup/layers its now some bast plant fibres which will deteriorate by use . I will try it when I get a change but something tells me I will like it less. The stringbed they have changed from FSI power to FSI control pattern = tighter pattern. I think big mistake,,,,It didnt need more control and less power. They basically have tried to make the Pure Strike to become a Blade. I think that is a mistake. wrong thinking coming to understand the market. There is already a Blade. copy the blade is like trying to copy coca cola. Strike was a different type of soda. Strike 3. gen is Blade on steroids. now they are taking the steroids out. For me swingweight is more important. The leather grip change that and make the racket more whippy this without you can feel much difference on the static in play. when the static is added in handle the higher overall stativ weight will not make you more fatigue when its 10 grams you add. but bc it changes the swingweight it will actually make you able to play longer.
@@ACTennis Also the 2021 Prestige MP (former tour) is a racket not talked about much. To me better than all the rest of the Head's. Between the extreme and the speed and a big contester to Pure Strike, White Out, Technifibre ISO/RS 305 etc.
@@benjaminjensen111 I liked the 360+ version alot, i never got around to try Auxetic for long enough because i felt that the playability was mostly the same with some changes to feel, but all of them i would say are very good racquets for sure I will be sad to see as you say, if the Pure strike power is too much lowered, because it was the biggest and best by far, helped me beat some very good players due to its high power
@@ACTennis Yes it is. I feel like we have similar tastes along the way, so I hope that might be a good option. BTW, your channel is awesome man, and I come from the tennis family channel.
Great video! I was not expecting Pure Strike VS in it tho. May I ask for some examples of 98 inch head racket, with stiffness under 64, 16x20 strings and unstrung weight 295--300gr. I would compromize with the strings as an alternative 16x19. Thanks a lot and good luck in 2023!
Head Gravity MP , it's 295g unstrung, 63 stiffness, 16x10 string pattern is closest you'll get, but it's 100 sqin Diadem Elevate , 305g, 98sqin, 64 RA, 16x20 To get a low stiffness racquet and light weight usually does not go together, because the lighter the racquet the more stiff it has to be otherwise there's no power at all
Thanks for the advice. I found only one, with a string pattern 16x19 - Head Graphene XT Radical MP (2016). I guess I'll have to sacrifice a thing or two, in order to find my stick..
I use a head gravity pro and I think my play style is similar to yours! Aggressive and flat shots, and utilising my serve for free points Could I ask what strings do you use and at what tension? I’m currently using the hyper G soft at 50lbs which seem ok but I am thinking of trying the poly tour pro at the same tension
Rad Pro is nice , but by definition of what i prefer, it comes off too fast from the strings, havent tried Rad MP, but assume it would be relatively similar
I struggled with the Ezone. I loved hitting from the baseline with it, but had difficulty when increasing head speed. I think the 24cm beam slowed me down considerably on serve and short/mid-court balls where I need to really accelerate through the shots.
@@ACTennis I use a standard ATP modern fh stroke. I think moving from the 21.5cm blade v8 to the 24cm ezone felt like a big jump; it felt a little sluggish by comparison.
The PT2.0 probably hits a nicer driving one hander, but that extra weight of about 20-25 grams of static weight is not very friendly for my game, so i can still swing the Gpro easier Probably like the PT at the net more, either the stability or the combination with the feel is superb, really don't have to do much at the net to stick a good volley
#5 is probably either the speed pro or some version of the tf40. Speed pro easier access to spin with less reliance on getting an underpecced racquet like the gpro requires. Tf40 because of the control and if you want whippy with customization then the 315 version.
Very interesting!!!!! My characteristics are basically the same although i am more of a baseliner. And as a "senior" i have lost some power and want the racket to give me more power with control. I am currently using a pure drive plus strung at 54.5 with Triax. Thoughts on options?
Don't think you are going to get any more power than a Pure Drive Plus , only control, maybe Pure Drive 98 coming out soon could be an easy transition if you want more control, but non extended length and smaller headsize, will obviously be less powerful
hi... can i ask a question? right now i'm currently using Solinco WO 18x20. i think this racket was great. but i need a little bit more spin. with this WO 18X20 kind of control. What Racket would u reccomend? thankyou 🙏🏻
If you are lacking spin with this racquet, i think you should try different strings, or lower tension, ive only tried the 16x19 version, but from what i understand, most people think this is a spin friendly racquet still for 18x20 - you wont find the same control if you move away from 18x20 pattern - the best is Tecnifibre ISO 305, but it is very advanced specs
Still stick with Gravity Pro, Ezone 98 is a secondary, maybe even more for doubles and Tfight ISO a third option - i probably should give the Strike VS another go though
@@ACTennis thank you! Primary stick for me is a pro staff v13, but starting to look for possible new stick that is a bit more forgiving and really similar to what you are looking for! I may try the gravity...
Great video. I can relate to almost every racket your reviewed here except for the regna and the strike VS because I’ve never tried them. I attempted to switch to the gravity pro but unfortunately after one month of full commitment I decided to return to my trusty head extreme tour. The gravity pro made me play a lot better but it demanded too much from me. The extreme tour is a great racket except that is a bit unpredictable at times. However I’ve haven’t been able to find a better stick for my game style yet and I’m too afraid to try again because every time I try it hurts my tennis. PD: try the Tecnifibre black code orange or green 17L if you are ever looking for some comfortable string with lots of spin potential.
I restring alot so i never chose Tecnifibre strings just because they're more on the expensive side, but have always been interested in them It will take so much to beat the Gravity Pro, it really has to be something special, since the specs i have, i can handle them for a full tournament, so that is not so much an issue, but Extreme Tour is very nice frame for sure, i have the pro stock version and it's just the same thing but much better feel
I think I know what it may be- Artengo TR960 Control Tour 18x20 or Head Prestige Pro 2021 would be my pick as well as they are also my racquets of choice. Artengo would be your pick because it's $230, but I think you've probably put lead in the hoop and weight in the handle to bump the sw in the 325-330. Otherwise TF40 305 18x20 or T-Fight 305 RS (isoflex is too high of a sw). I wouldn't switch your racquets, but probably review the string setup and tension like to a volkl cyclone tour or head lynx tour
Sick! Whats your perception in terms of power/spin/control between the Blade v8 16x19, ET and the PSVS? Thinking between those 3 in my racket journey and you’ve been helping heaps! Cheers from Brazil!
Yeah i've tried the 100X, 290 100X, 100P - all very good racquets, but i think the string pattern is a little open for me, then there's the 18x20 but the extra static weight unstrung is quite alot
Great content, as always. I've been going 'round and 'round with some of the same -- namely, the PSVS, the EZ98, and GPro. Super curious what your 5th is!
Gpro definitely has the best swing , i don't like the way the Strike moves, but the Strike VS, Regna and Ezone all feet good on the forehand, then Strike and Regna are better on the backhand
Saw your review of the Phantom 93p (my choice) that you liked a lot but you felt a tad heavy. Try the ATS Tour 95 for more power (dampened feel is more modern).
Loved the video. You should consider the Prince Ripstick, Dunlop SX 300 tour and the Ezone Tour 98. All 3 are great sticks but I find the Ripstick to offer ample spin, power, and stability. Also, due to the O-port grommet system, it comes through the air quickly and has a whippy feel. Another one to look out will also be the Diadem Elevate version 3 coming out in January. It's a competitor for the Blade and the pure strike but I find it to have a bit more power and control than the Babolat
Actually would love and have been meaning to try the Diadem Elevate, but a little difficult to get them in Australia, if at all, think it would definitely suit my style
I still think a customized radical mp might suit you well. Either this new upcoming one or the 360+. My journey was a tad different though, I went from the 360+ Prestige Pro to the Ultra Pro 16x19 to now the Radical MP. Most my specs have my sticks lined up at around 315-318g unstrung with 7-8 pts HL.
@@ACTennis Fair! I had the chance to demo both side by side which is why I knew immediately which one fit me better. I was 100% more hyped for the Pro and ended up loving the MP instead. For how beefy the pro is stock you would think it would come around with more pop but on the string bed but for me it just felt dead.
Hey AC : Thanks for great review. Can I ask your opinion ? I am playing Angell V4 TC100 - 27.5inch . While I was fine with Racket #1; Racket #2 and #3 feel significantly different in vibration and stability. Hence I am looking around for a different brand. Was considering Yonex Vcore98 V7 or Ezone98. Have you an opinion on how Angell compares to the above mentioned ? Thanks for your feedback. Regards from Singapore
Not worth to compare racquets based on feel, you're unlikely to get a racquet that will be so similar in feel - Angell are known to have better quality compositions of racquets, which is why they feel nicer , you need to find a substitute that you can accept for one, and then stability can be built with weight
I used to use the Blade v6 with CV as a main racquet before Gravity, they are very similar, just CV is more muted, but plays the same, so wouldn't go back to it
Hi Ac, great review again. I got a question for you. I am looking to switch from a Prince Twistpower x100 to a more controlled racquet. I have been playing tennis for about 11 years now an I play at a decent level. I am a 6’5 agressive baseliner. I recently demo’d the PS97 and Vcore 98. I found that the PS97 lacks power and the Vcore has way too much. I am now looking at a more tweener frame like the Cx400 tour with extra weight added and the Speed mp. Any other tips?
Speed MP is real nice, feel is great and comfortable, power is not over the top but maybe the launch angle is for some, Ezone would be lower powered than the Vcore, spins just as well, Extreme Tour with lead is another good option - havent tried the CX400
Thank you for another great review, Matt. What would be your choice between Extreme tour vs Ezone 98? and Have you had a chance to play with Ezone 100? Ezone 100 with a leather grip works amazingly for me.
Ezone 100 is too thick for my style, not a fast racquet, it's nice for sure, just not for me I prefer the Ezone over the ET, forehand and serve are too dominant on the Ezone, ET is a nice all rounder
@@jonathanchen1026 The feel was never the problem with the Gravity haha, well nothing is kind of wrong with the Gravity except for manoeuvrability ..and in my opinion the paintjob haha
Thanks as always for the excellent content. Quite an electic mix of sticks which kinda makes sense given your very clear requirements. With the mystery racquet is the 330g static weight shown your actual spec or avg promoted by the likes of TW?
The way it cuts through the air, is not as efficient as racquets like a Blade or Ezone, multiple factors, like swingweight, headshape, weight distribution
The v8 Blade pros are a lot easier to use than the v7s..dont ask me why - maybe because the Sws are coming in lower, but its just a sensational frame now. Have you tried it?
If you haven't measured the swingweights, it'll likely be just the quality control between swingweight and twistweight, it should be no difference to the frame really Same thing happened to my Gravity Pros i bought, BP obviously a nice racquet regardless though
@@ACTennis Nah I measured them and they are all like 305 SW ( I have 3 now). On the V7 they were a minimum of 310 and some where closer to 320). The v8s are definitely easier to use. They did something because its become my main frame and I could not switch to the V7s.
@@ACTennis Yeah may be, regardless I hope you can get one. I think you will be impressed. I have a PSVS coming that I will compare to it, I am excited by your review of that. Sounds like a really fun frame with a nice feel and I am looking forward to it.
Hi, what type of hand grip do you have on your forehand? I have a semi-westren grip and I find really difficult to play with the gravity pro, is it normal?
My only one problem with the Gravity Pros is when I am lazy on a low balls and I can't swing the banana shoot and go under the ball. Usually balls finish at the net. That is the only complain. I guess is lacking maneuverability. I have to test it with very thin poly or shaped strings.
My swingweight is low enough to do all types of shots, so that's why it's at the top of the list - if i played with one that came in too heavy, i would of never chose the Gravity as a racquet
@@ACTennis mine was on the specs 1 generation strung 332 grams, but I put leather grip because I wanted to be 343 grams. I have to experiment with different strings but I like the racket, the serve and forehands are deadly with it and also very good on returns. I love it and I have 3 Sticks :)
I would guess a Technifibre racquet is your pick, they are said to be awesome. Or the Ezone Tour if you consider it a different racquet than the regular Ezone 98. I am testing the Ezone Tour myself, I just can't get any confidence on my OHB, apart from that it is nothing short of spectacular.
@@ACTennis it surely is. And it feels like a good choice. But whereas my Blade just produces a straight shot, the Ezone asks for a spin, makin my backhand shots land short.
My main is EZT too, sans the addictive feel, which I found in Regna 100. I cannot relate with the Regna though, because I feel I will hit long with it when facing a weak ball. Maybe it's too light?
@@tophersuwita I don't think so. Light racquets generate less power, not more. I guess it is something else. Maybe string it a little tighter or add some spin. My 98 even works at tensions below 40 lbs.
Thi isn't my information, i was told the Gravity Pro is replaced with the MP mould and original is discontinued - like i said, just a rumor, although the one i got the info from is almost 90% correct, but i feel like this time probably take with a grain of salt
Gravity tour will be discontinued. I’ve seen the 2023 head brochure for a brief moment from a local tennis shop and the tour on the gravity line is gone.
Never got the chance to, but known about it for a long time - might be a bit too old school for me though, as in the weight and specs, not that it's just an old model, that i'm not really worried about
I found a new spec on my Gravity pro that i play better with, but the aero 98 and regna 98 are basically my secondary racquets, can be ingerchangable at this stage
Blade Pro is feels too heavy and slow for my style, Ultra Pro is a pure control racquet that is very nice but i wouldn't beat any great players with it
How’s the feel of the pure strike VS compared to 2021 vcore (95)? The yonex has zero feel off the stringbed; winner or shot into the fence feels exactly the same
Both are muted, Vcore is going to be more crisp off the strings, the Strike VS has insane pocketing / dwell time, both which make it hard to figure out the response
Nice comparison :) Pure Strikes power is very tempting to everyone :) Odd question: how would you compare power between Gravity Pro and Head Extreme Tour, both customized to around 330 SW? I'm trying to find a compromise between Head Liquidmetal Radical MP and Head Extreme Tour but I don't think low powered racquets suit me.
Extreme Tour is a spin control racquet, at 330 SW it definitely helps, and is overall a really nice racquet, but woudn't touch the Gravity Pro in terms of power, but the tear drop shape of the Gpro probably slows down your swing more than the Extreme Tour would at the same swingweight - the 100sqin , and amount of forgiveness it has though really helps with alot of power generation, just a bit harder to swing for the average user
Haha. First 2 minutes he was more picky than he would be with choosing a spouse. Tennis people have gone mad. Can you imagine in the 80’s and 90’s players had 2 choices and one choice in string take it or leave it. Tennis has gone crazy. The racket and strings now play the game for you.
I agree. Pick a racket if it doesn't feel good, pick another one till you like it. Then stick with it and don't change. Practicing and practicing is a million times more useful than changing rackets / strings every 6 months. In fact I think constantly changing makes your game worse as your always have to adjust to weights, swing weights tensions etc. It's over over marketing to make extra cash simple as that.
@@jonnyhatchman687 Not recommended to do what i do, but at the end of the day, but the channel exists to review racquets - i still haven't switched and ever claimed to switch , i've stuck with the same racquet since i first used it - if anything, people just misinterpret the fact that i can articulate exactly what id want , with what i think is realistically achievable
No I obviously understand what you are saying and I'm not slating your video. I find it very interesting, hence why I'm watching it. I just went through a phase last year where I tried different frames / different weights etc and I kept coming back to my same racket I'd used for 3 years and I realised that switching rackets/ strings all the time isn't the way to improve your game. Its practice practice practice. I know this isn't the same for everyone, that's just my personal opinion
Talking aerodynamics regarding tennis racquets really cracks me up. Even if you put them in a wind tunnel and tested them, the difference would be so insignificant as to be laughable. It's simply not a factor at all. Seriously. Now if you want to talk static weight, swing weight, balance, flex, and sweet spot size, now we're talking about factors that affect how a racquet feels and plays. Also, strings and string tensions play a key role in racquet performance. Get the world's most perfect racquet and string it with crap strings and at the wrong tension and you're playing with a crap racquet. You can only test racquets against each other by using the same string and tension to take that element out of the evaluation equation. Otherwise, racquet comparison testing just is not valid. Not even close. Also, adding to the difficulty of racquet evaluation is the absolute crap manufacturing specs that come from most racquet brands. Actual weights and balances can vary significantly from published specs between same models. Published racquet specs are goals that are rarely met. They seem more like guesses or approximations. It's just crazy.
No Wilson in your list? 🥲 PS97 v13 is a great stick for a big serve and a one handed backhand. It gives you good control for flat shots and volleys, super sharp slice, and great amount of spin with its 16x19 string pattern. It is handle heavy so you can generate fast racket head speed. I use it with a full bed of Tour Bite 16 gage 24/23kg and just love it, you can use natural gut for increase ball pocketing, feel and confort. With a leather grip and 5gramms at 9 and 3 it's a beast 👊
This is a great video. I really enjoyed it mostly because I feel I am on a very similar journey. I am a 4.0 player with a one-hand backhand who also relies on first serve for free points.
Looking foward to your review on the new PS98
Excellent video as always! I love these shorter videos where you're just getting out your thoughts, wouldn't mind them in addition to your usual in depth reviews!
I'm actually heavily considering picking up a gravity pro since they are on sale with the 2023 models coming out. Current racquet is the 2019 prestige tour.
Excited for your racquet of the year! My guess is the Speed Pro
Thanks Matt! Prestige Tour is nice, basically what Murray used for the start of the year but different string pattern, and different composition
Make sure you pre-measure the Gpro before buying, otherwise you'll get some crazy spec haha
Which shop you got it in
Thanks for the review!
I was hoping for the scores sheet though, at least for the Pure Strike VS.
Battle of the 97S has the racquet rating

Another awesome video with detailed analysis. As for racquet of the year, I'm gonna guess it's either the Wilson Blade 98 v8 or the Head Extreme Tour! Keep up the great work!
Thanks MIke, working on the next video 🙂
Looking forward to watching it!
I've tried a couple Angell racquets, all great quality stuff, but didn't beat out my Gpro, something special about it 😁
It's all about the serve.
Great vid!
Haha yeah it's just a quick update video, i've done all reviews on these frames in the past with detailed breakdown, so i wasn't going to try and spend too much time finding all the cuts to each specific thing i was speaking about otherwise it'd take too long
Might want to hold out for the 2023 Vcore 95.
I'll probably buy it and end up keeping it, but wouldn't use it for matches
Love it! Great insight
Appreciate it MIkey!
Take the vibro-dampener out of the Pure Strike's stringbed. It's not needed and will improve the feel and also lower the swingweight a tad.
Love your reviews and i have hit most of the same racquets and alternate between the Ezone 98, Ezone Tour, Strike and Aero VS.
I'd put money on the Extreme Tour as your racquet of the year. The new Auxetic version is a vast improvement and my favourite Head.
Hahah good taste , tons of stuff out there, if i didn't have the Gravity it'd most certainly be the Ezone or Strike as my main
Got my hands on the The Pure Strike Gen 2 and gotta say I really like the solid feel and power they have.
Apart from the elbow issues, for some time it was most people's favourite
@@ACTennis yeh so far my elbow is holding together. Will see how long that lasts.
My guess for your racquet award would be a slightly customized extreme tour 😀
I had last year's Extreme Tour (non-auxetic). I hated it. If his current racquet is a 18x20, I don't understand why he would go from that to a very open 16x19 that has nowhere near the same level of directional control.
@@svlagonda7417 It’s not that open of a 16x19. I find it has plenty of control and can hit flat balls and produce spin.
I couldn't play with the ET. No control and brassy feel.
Extreme Tour is garbage.
Tried gen 4 yet? any thoughts? id like to try soon
I dont use the leather because i keep my static 330 or under
Not yet. im more of a last year model guy. i like the discounts and like to find the overseen rackets like the Instinct 2022 a better Pure Drive but 1/3 of the price..... and the prices for the new iterations/models are quite insane. and the improvements if any are very little.
Thoughts:
My guts tells me the pure Strikes gen 3 was already close to perfection regarding balance of power, control, stiffness, string pattern etc..its highly recommended by users overall if you see and read the buyers recomendations on the sale websites. long positve writings. not many rackets get that praised taht much by users. almost like its an holy grail discovered.
@@ACTennis
Also the 2021 Prestige MP (former tour) is a racket not talked about much. To me better than all the rest of the Head's. Between the extreme and the speed and a big contester to Pure Strike, White Out, Technifibre ISO/RS 305 etc.
@@benjaminjensen111 I liked the 360+ version alot, i never got around to try Auxetic for long enough because i felt that the playability was mostly the same with some changes to feel, but all of them i would say are very good racquets for sure
I will be sad to see as you say, if the Pure strike power is too much lowered, because it was the biggest and best by far, helped me beat some very good players due to its high power
A TF40 with a bit of weight in the hoop might be good as well.
On paper, has alot of potential
@@ACTennis Yes it is. I feel like we have similar tastes along the way, so I hope that might be a good option. BTW, your channel is awesome man, and I come from the tennis family channel.
Great video! I was not expecting Pure Strike VS in it tho. May I ask for some examples of 98 inch head racket, with stiffness under 64, 16x20 strings and unstrung weight 295--300gr. I would compromize with the strings as an alternative 16x19.
Thanks a lot and good luck in 2023!
Head Gravity MP , it's 295g unstrung, 63 stiffness, 16x10 string pattern is closest you'll get, but it's 100 sqin
Diadem Elevate , 305g, 98sqin, 64 RA, 16x20
To get a low stiffness racquet and light weight usually does not go together, because the lighter the racquet the more stiff it has to be otherwise there's no power at all
Thanks for the advice. I found only one, with a string pattern 16x19 - Head Graphene XT Radical MP (2016).
I guess I'll have to sacrifice a thing or two, in order to find my stick..
I use a head gravity pro and I think my play style is similar to yours! Aggressive and flat shots, and utilising my serve for free points
Could I ask what strings do you use and at what tension? I’m currently using the hyper G soft at 50lbs which seem ok but I am thinking of trying the poly tour pro at the same tension
I use Tour Bite 1.15mm in my heavier one, and T1 Firewire Boost regular gauge in my lighter one, both 48lbs
@@ACTennis thank you for sharing!
great review, really liked the feel of pure strike vs and GPro, how about radical mp or pro?
Rad Pro is nice , but by definition of what i prefer, it comes off too fast from the strings, havent tried Rad MP, but assume it would be relatively similar
I struggled with the Ezone. I loved hitting from the baseline with it, but had difficulty when increasing head speed. I think the 24cm beam slowed me down considerably on serve and short/mid-court balls where I need to really accelerate through the shots.
Depends on your swing path, one of the faster racquets for my forehand style
@@ACTennis I use a standard ATP modern fh stroke. I think moving from the 21.5cm blade v8 to the 24cm ezone felt like a big jump; it felt a little sluggish by comparison.
ezone need 18kg
My guess for your #5 racquet is Head Speed Pro or Technifibre TF40 305 😎
So many good ones to choose from, but 🤐haha
Hi, What would be your choice for SH Backand rackets in stock form
Might be a surprise but Speed Pro is a nice one for me and Vcore 98
Interesting video so thanks for the post. How would you describe the Gravity Pro compared to the PT 2.0 for the one-hander & at the net?
The PT2.0 probably hits a nicer driving one hander, but that extra weight of about 20-25 grams of static weight is not very friendly for my game, so i can still swing the Gpro easier
Probably like the PT at the net more, either the stability or the combination with the feel is superb, really don't have to do much at the net to stick a good volley
#5 is probably either the speed pro or some version of the tf40. Speed pro easier access to spin with less reliance on getting an underpecced racquet like the gpro requires. Tf40 because of the control and if you want whippy with customization then the 315 version.
Both are very solid options 🙂
Very interesting!!!!! My characteristics are basically the same although i am more of a baseliner. And as a "senior" i have lost some power and want the racket to give me more power with control. I am currently using a pure drive plus strung at 54.5 with Triax. Thoughts on options?
Don't think you are going to get any more power than a Pure Drive Plus , only control, maybe Pure Drive 98 coming out soon could be an easy transition if you want more control, but non extended length and smaller headsize, will obviously be less powerful
I might need a gravity pro again. Had a retail then prostock but pro felt a little too soft. Should try again, might love it.
Haha guess you must prefer crisper? Gpro will be pretty soft for the most part regardless of the string, but totally up my alley for feel preference
hi...
can i ask a question?
right now i'm currently using Solinco WO 18x20.
i think this racket was great.
but i need a little bit more spin.
with this WO 18X20 kind of control.
@@ACTennis what about Gravity Pro ?
Curious what racquet did you end up going with?
Still stick with Gravity Pro, Ezone 98 is a secondary, maybe even more for doubles and Tfight ISO a third option - i probably should give the Strike VS another go though
@@ACTennis thank you! Primary stick for me is a pro staff v13, but starting to look for possible new stick that is a bit more forgiving and really similar to what you are looking for! I may try the gravity...
With what strings and tension do you have the gravity pro? please
Check out my Battle of the Titans Round 3 video, has all my setups
But mostly i will use Tour Bite 1.15mm at 48lbs or T1 Firewire Boost at 48lbs
I restring alot so i never chose Tecnifibre strings just because they're more on the expensive side, but have always been interested in them
It will take so much to beat the Gravity Pro, it really has to be something special, since the specs i have, i can handle them for a full tournament, so that is not so much an issue, but Extreme Tour is very nice frame for sure, i have the pro stock version and it's just the same thing but much better feel
Cmon now lol, i've been using it for 3+ years, i've tried all the string combos i need 😋
Sick! Whats your perception in terms of power/spin/control between the Blade v8 16x19, ET and the PSVS? Thinking between those 3 in my racket journey and you’ve been helping heaps! Cheers from Brazil!
Power - PSVS , ET, Blade v8
Spin - ET, PSVS, Blade v8
Control - Blade v8 (flat control) , ET (spin control), PSVS
Racquet of the year, considering your liking, Head Speed Pro 2022
I did give it a nice rating in my review 😊
Have you tried anything from Prince's Phantom lineup? E.g. 100p could be worth a try for you.
Will try to get it out soon 🫡
From what i show on your video you swing the most natural with gravity pro. Also you haven’t yet tried radical mp if not mistaken. :)
I think if i were to go for a 95, it might aswell be the Vcore 95, probably the new one would be a really nice option
Diadem Elevate could be for sure a great option - pretty stable compromise between control, power and spin. With the nice feel also.
Do you think the. Do Ezone 98 2022 work for flat hitters?
i believe it can, but i think maybe it might lack a bit more consistency than a top spin stroke would in terms of reliability and precision
Unrelated but where do you get your athletic wear from?
Haha a mixture of tennis gear, sports gear in general of the main brands, and some stuff here is from a brand called doyoueven
Still havent tried it, just because i bought the Pro and i didnt want to buy 2 models in the same line, too much wastage - maybe next one ill consider
Blade Pro! the only way to go!
Certainly a highly respectable racquet to choose 🔥
Ezone 98, one of the most versatile.
One cannot go wrong with the Ezone 🙂
And about Wilson Blade 98 V6 (NC)?
I used to use the Blade v6 with CV as a main racquet before Gravity, they are very similar, just CV is more muted, but plays the same, so wouldn't go back to it
I have the feeling that you will choose the Pure aero Vs with some lead...
Alcaraz got everyone switching 😅
My second guess is the Blade Pro ^^
Ezone 100 is too thick for my style, not a fast racquet, it's nice for sure, just not for me
I prefer the Ezone over the ET, forehand and serve are too dominant on the Ezone, ET is a nice all rounder
So, in your opinion, which rackets have better depth control than the Yonex Ezone 98?
Vcore 98 2023, Strike 98, Aero 98, Pure Drive 98, Radical MP
Just wait for gravity pro auxetic early next year
A Gravity Pro is still a Gravity Pro haha, same shape and all, dont think that much can change
@@ACTennis I think if they add the auxetic the feel and stability will improve. I felt that for the speed pro
Roughly the actual weight, but i'm experimenting still
Okay, I’ll then guess TF40 18x20 305g🙂
Could the new Yonex Vcore 95 2023 be a contender for your switch?, I think it could be a good option.
I'd probably end up keeping one, but not something i'll probably play with for matches
Why is it that you have to change your serve motion with the gravity, the weight, headshape?
The way it cuts through the air, is not as efficient as racquets like a Blade or Ezone, multiple factors, like swingweight, headshape, weight distribution
Have you tried Radical MP and TF40 305?
Haven't tried the Radical MP, and yes i've tried the TF40 😁
The v8 Blade pros are a lot easier to use than the v7s..dont ask me why - maybe because the Sws are coming in lower, but its just a sensational frame now. Have you tried it?
If you haven't measured the swingweights, it'll likely be just the quality control between swingweight and twistweight, it should be no difference to the frame really
Same thing happened to my Gravity Pros i bought, BP obviously a nice racquet regardless though
@@ACTennis Nah I measured them and they are all like 305 SW ( I have 3 now). On the V7 they were a minimum of 310 and some where closer to 320). The v8s are definitely easier to use. They did something because its become my main frame and I could not switch to the V7s.
@@landonh3535 Possibly just the twistweight QC, which is never accounted for
@@ACTennis Yeah may be, regardless I hope you can get one.
Ive played with all 3 grip types, you just need to adjust, or maybe that the racquet might not suit your swingpath
I love it and I have 3 Sticks :)
stick of the year is the 2022 extreme tour. i'd be shocked if that wasn't your pick
Guess you'll find out sooner than later 🙂
7:16 every Babolat frame ever... lol. Also agree on their squared grips, don't like them at all...
Yeahhh, feels bigger than it needs to be, and i lose my natural grip that i hold when playing with it
I would guess a Technifibre racquet is your pick, they are said to be awesome. Or the Ezone Tour if you consider it a different racquet than the regular Ezone 98.
I am testing the Ezone Tour myself, I just can't get any confidence on my OHB, apart from that it is nothing short of spectacular.
Actually the OHB was not terrible for me on the Ezone Tour, it's a pretty good frame for sure
@@ACTennis it surely is. And it feels like a good choice. But whereas my Blade just produces a straight shot, the Ezone asks for a spin, makin my backhand shots land short.
To my surprise, I have great success with OHB using Ezone Tour 😀
Better than other more HL racquets or other lower swingweight racquets I have used.
This is the first I’m hearing of no gravity pro. I’ve heard no gravity tour a dozen times. You sure you got that right?
Thi isn't my information, i was told the Gravity Pro is replaced with the MP mould and original is discontinued - like i said, just a rumor, although the one i got the info from is almost 90% correct, but i feel like this time probably take with a grain of salt
Gravity tour will be discontinued. I’ve seen the 2023 head brochure for a brief moment from a local tennis shop and the tour on the gravity line is gone.
@@bobbyexevea9751 That would make the most sense , cheers for clarifying
i'm still sticking with my blade v6 non-cv
Very good racquet
are head gravity pro and pure strike 16x19 more powerful than pure aero vs?
Gpro will have a flatter penetrating ball, maybe similar power, Aero VS will spin more , but Strike will be the most powerful
@@ACTennis is pure strike similar with a tweener but with a 98 head ?
@@MrCarFanatic Pretty much yep
Have you tried the pure strike tour?@@ACTennis
It would be very sad news if the current GPro beam is indeed discontinued. I'd have to buy a few before they go out completely.
i need one in the new paintjob, i will be quite annoyed lol, my feel from what i've seen is that it's not true
Seems a lot guesses on extreme tour. I will put my money on customized speed mp. BTW great content as always.
Thanks! i do like both frames 🙂
VCore 98 or Solinco White Out
I play better with the White Out, barring the tension drop / string eater
Extreme tour bro
Possibly yay, possibly nay 🤐😁
Speed pro or ezone tour
Ezone Tour for me
you try volkl c10 pro?
Never got the chance to, but known about it for a long time - might be a bit too old school for me though, as in the weight and specs, not that it's just an old model, that i'm not really worried about
@@ACTennis I switched to it coming from the rf97 and a good comfortable blend for the ohb and attacking brand of tennis
so did u switch to any of this?
I found a new spec on my Gravity pro that i play better with, but the aero 98 and regna 98 are basically my secondary racquets, can be ingerchangable at this stage
What do you like more about the aero 98 than the strike 98?
Any reason blade pro or ultra pro didn’t make your top 5?
Blade Pro is feels too heavy and slow for my style, Ultra Pro is a pure control racquet that is very nice but i wouldn't beat any great players with it
ET weighted up for last racquet? I think checks all your boxes for racquet.
Definitely looks real nice on paper 😆
Speed Pro 2022?
What makes you think so? 😁
@@ACTennis Perfect modern frame. The best feeling ever. For me, the only negative is bad spin/ launch angle.
Nice comparison :) Pure Strikes power is very tempting to everyone :)
Odd question: how would you compare power between Gravity Pro and Head Extreme Tour, both customized to around 330 SW? I'm trying to find a compromise between Head Liquidmetal Radical MP and Head Extreme Tour but I don't think low powered racquets suit me.
Extreme Tour is a spin control racquet, at 330 SW it definitely helps, and is overall a really nice racquet, but woudn't touch the Gravity Pro in terms of power, but the tear drop shape of the Gpro probably slows down your swing more than the Extreme Tour would at the same swingweight - the 100sqin , and amount of forgiveness it has though really helps with alot of power generation, just a bit harder to swing for the average user
@@ACTennis, wonderful, thanks for the reply!
Your pick for racket of the year is Head Speed Pro 2022. How did I do?
Try removing 2 sqin for the headsize 😋
Lol good one
@@jonnyhatchman687 yeah i agree with you, it's not about racket, it's about skill and technique
Ohhhh the suspense! Please don't say Vcore 95 lol
Hahah definitely not
Id more worried about stocking up on GP Turbos😊
Mens ones are long gone here, have to buy the womens in mens size lol
PS97 v13 is a great stick for a big serve and a one handed backhand.
Nothing that matches the qualities i'm looking for, barely any racquet out there is bad, i just know exactly what i have preference for
@@ACTennis I understand, i can't play with a racket that is not a pro staff, i'm just addicted to the feel
