Awesome video! Very clear explanations on that awesome EV Motor technology!
Differential inside the rotor, that's genius!
Thanks for sharing this video 👍👍👍

This motor is one of the recent creation that would change the whole EV industry by setting an extremely high bench mark.
Thank you for taking the time to print and explain the details of this motor.
I wish they can give a nickname to it, its well deserved.

Bevel-gear differentials routinely have from two to four pinion gears. This one has four, as noted at 9:08, probably for sufficient torque capacity in the small size... but there are also conventional differentials in live beam axles that have four pinion gears.

"Planetary plates" (at 8:46) is a strange term; in fact, there are planetary gear sets on each side, providing reduction gearing.

Fascinating approach. I wonder if they can extend the function of the differential by adding disk brakes before the planetary gear system for use with traction control system. It seems to me the lower torque before the planetary gear system would be an advantage.

It wouldn't be worth it, simply because of the speed that inner differential is going. You would need to increase the rotating mass SIGNIFICANTLY for no significant gain. Lucid's traction control and torque vectoring system is unlike anything else on the market.

Very nice video! So this whole contraption takes the place of the rotor in the electrical motor? very well thought!

Not needed for street applications. And they have dual motors in the Sapphire to drive the wheels independently. Otherwise, it would probably just brake one wheel in a single motor configuration.

Complimenti e cordiali saluti.
