- This video covers every update or piece of info I could find regarding Deltarune Chapter 2 and beyond. Most of the updates were taken from Toby Fox's Twitter. If I missed anything important (which I don't think I did!), please let me know! I apologize if I skipped over some parts quite quickly - it was just for the sake of the video staying brief.
Obviously, a lot of people would have seen all of this anyway, but this should still be helpful to people who don't follow Toby Fox or just feel like they just need a recap!

At first I thought he was referring to Noelle, but that situation is anything but how Toby describes it.

2:51 this piece of information is really important if you think about it.
toby states that noelle's theme is repeated during deltarune. this reminds me of the melody "memory" or "his theme" in undertale which is getting used while the flashback of chara happens after undyne destroys the bridge, during undyne's date, when asgore is about to die and at the statue.
moreover, noelle's theme comes with a very nostalgic feeling (like memory/his theme) which leads to the conclusion that noelle in deltarune could have the same important role as asriel in undertale.
Oh, I completely forgot that Memory is used when Undyne reminisces about Asgore! That's actually interesting, I had thought it only played with things that had to do with Asriel.
I think in chapter 2 Noelle goes into the dark world with them and ends up getting lost so they have to find her but it’s just a theory

The main thing I got from this is that the ending of the game is based off of a fever dream. Interesting...
I didn’t know that until I saw this video, and I can’t wait to see the ending now. I personally have had several dreams that I thought could make good books.
@@caltheuntitled8021 I definitely feel you there. Toby worries that this game might not live up to people's expectations, but if that's his source material, I doubt it will be any less than engaging.
I can understand making a whole game based off some weird dream, but making only the ending based off it? Makes me really wonder what his creative process was.
@@dotXyore I can relate to him here. I had a dream that had only a few scenes in it (people travel to place, talk with person, go on quest, meet another character in the woods) and I have since expanded it into a much longer idea that will span several books. Of course, it’s far from a complete story right now, but the basic process I used was whenever I had an idea relating to it, I would try adding it on to the existing story and see if it worked, changing other things around it if needed. Sometimes I used concepts from other dreams I had.

Thats very interesting,it could be a similiar thing to His Theme (if you didnt know His theme is in 80% of the Undertale's OST's) Or Gaster's theme indicating his mark around mysterious things,time will tell
Gaster’s theme (titled “mus_him” in the game files) is 4 notes looping. Gaster is definitely linked with this somehow, but saying 80% of the soundtracks have his theme is a bit of a stretch.
@@crowMilatonin I don't know. But maybe there's someone in this timeline doing the same thing Gaster is doing on the other timeline. Either way, i don't feel that this theme is related to this timeline's Gaster at all.

1:05 I remember thinking "Oohh that's really heartwarming!" when the scenes about Susie learning to heal came up in Chapter 2. I'm pretty sure that's what he's referring to here, anyway.
It's especially nice to hear him say "at first" regarding her proficiency with it because that implies there will come a time where she is a decent enough and reliable healer in her own unique way.
It also makes me think there could be a moment in the story where Susie being able to heal someone will be critical... Hopefully she's proficient enough sooner rather than later, in that case...
Either way, it's really cool to see how long things have been in the works and how they're progressing now! I'm really excited to see everything come together and become clear someday. Bit by bit, we get there with each chapter and each update from Toby, and bit by bit we also get more to speculate about.
Also, 3:25 is incredibly relieving to read, I hope that feeling has persisted up until now and will continue to. However long it takes, we wont forget.

This makes me wish I had fever dreams. Last time I had a fever my mind kept me up all night talking about scorpions. It just lingered in my mind. It wouldn’t leave no matter what I did.
@@crowMilatonin Trust me, as someone who has bizarre fever dreams, you don't want them. They're just scary, disturbing, or just so insane you lie there for ten minutes trying to work out what the hell you just saw. I'd take scorpions over my dreams.
Interesting how Susie's face is dark again like normal, but Ralsei is without his hat. Both of those changes happened at the very end of Ch1

Great job keeping the text on screen _just_ long enough for everyone to finish reading it! This video feels very polished.
It's so amazing how he can just work on a self funded project for long periods of time, I wish I had that kind of drive and motivation for anything.

@@DerioYT It's ultimately a good thing, tit means that not only will we have a MASSIVE game to play when it comes out, but also it will likely improve the design of the chapters due to them being able to go back and implement new ideas they came up with in later chapters thus creating an overall better product.
Not to mention we won't have to endure any more of these heart-wrenching ;) cliffhangers.
@@alexanderfrye2688 You're right, but still there are another years of waiting. And this could be a very annoying thing for the players and the fandom. The development mode of the game is chapter by chapter, and for this It Is understandable wishing for a regular period of available chapter. For example a chapter for year.
@@DerioYT It took Toby like 6 months to make one chapter. I predict the game will probably be finished by early 2022.

I noticed in the last picture shown at the end of the video ralsie's battle sprite showed him without his hat on but his icon in the bottom right corner still showed him with a hat

Ok I didn't realise he was releasing the rest of the game all at once. That's good to know, I genuinely thought it was taking this long just to get chapter 2. I think releasing it one by one would be better for retaining an audience, but releasing it at once probably means a bigger hit when it does drop.

I feel genuinely bad for Toby.
He's so shy he straight up won't do interviews anymore due to a cult following so massive he has random people making compilations of his tweets to massive RUclips success.
All this due to him basically accidentally falling into stardom, as undertale was intended as a $5000 indie-game kickstarter never meant to go farther than any other indie title let alone snowball harder than any other franchise on earth (from a ratio of "existing official content" to "size/devotion of fanbase generated" perspective)
Just give the guy a break, like god damn guys. He didn't ask for nor pursue this massive spotlight that's been placed on his every breath taken. He's not like your average clout chasing celebrity who it's okay to harass with paparazzi post-success because exposure was their brand, yet he was non-consentially put under a way larger microscope than any even A-list celebrity could ever hope of having. Fine a man as he is there simply is not a raving Tom Hanks fanbase/cult out there hanging on his every tweet and foaming at the mouth for his next project.
Toby is just a guy who wants some damn space. Be considerate.

Did he change his mind about the all at once thing? Just asking since he said on Undertale.com that it'll be released in chapters, though im probably just misunderstanding
Yes, yes most likely meant that. When he said it will be released at once, it was over a year ago. He probably realised the game's hype will die if he waits til all the chapters are done, and if the hype dies, he won't get to share his story. If everything goes well, we will probably get chapter 2 in late q1 of 2021 - early q2.

I remember back in 2018 when Toby said it may take several years to complete Deltarune. I thought that the wait would be forever, its hard to believe that was over 2 years ago.
If only The Kingkiller Chronicles had this many updates....

People ask where's Silksong and where's Elden Ring, but no one asks about Deltarune. Seriously, this game has been announced longer than the previously two and hasn't had any updates since chapter 1 was released in 2018!

I honestly love Undertale/Deltarune so much. I really want to make a game that is similar to it but its own characters/story/settings. (if i ever do, I will put in the credits that Toby Fox was my inspiration)

I think every building in the city would have a weird world that leads to the darkworld and i think kris, susie, noelle go to the hospital to take care of noelles dad and find another weird door in the hospital and enter the darkworld again but with noelle and now all the enemys are sick and yoy can heal them by acting (because the weird door was in the hospital)
BUT THIS JUST A THEORY

Huh, so Toby had the ending and made the whole game around that ending, which is a weird way of handling a story
You get asked to do that kind of thing with stories often, so it's not particularly odd.
This is a litlle off about what you are saying, but one day i was dreaming about smash ultimate like, 3 weeks before reveal

Normal Kris will fight Dark world Kris in chapter 2.
Take your time, Toby. I'm hyped as heck to try it when done. Loved the demo.
Technically, you skipped over the Famitsu article, but everything in it and more was covered in the Deltarune 9/20/20 update a couple days later anyways, so it doesn't matter much

(I will say it kinda sucks a little that Toby said he wanted to get the game in everyone's hands as quickly as possible, before development on Chapter 2 had even begun proper, but I guess that's how game development is sometimes)
