    Just a heads up after seeing a bunch of comments. I think the audio compression on RUclips may be causing the footsteps to sound more similar here than in my video editing software. When I listen to this on RUclips, the difference is much more subtle.

      Hello Ace, I would like to address a very important issue that I didnt even know existed before some days. Apparently if people mass report you, you will get shadow banned, which means that you enter a limited state of matchmaking until they review your account. This limited state matchmaking means that the game will matchmake you only with other people that are in similar state. This results in veery veeery long que times (sometimes you cant even find a lobby) and extremely high ping (150+).
      I got an MGB recently and everyone in my lobby called me a cheater and claimed that they will report me. Even my teamates reported me just because I got 60 kills in a tdm, which ofc they thought it was impossible for a legit player to achieve. They reported me without even seeing me play. A while later I couldnt find a lobby and i quit the game. After some days of the same terrible matchmaking experience I searched for whats going on and I found out about the situation and how Activision handles things. I confirmed that my account is in a shadow ban state and there is nothing I can do. I cant even appeal. I have to wait until they clear me, and ofc they dont tell me how much time i have to wait. Until then I cant play the game.
      Now, why I think this is a serious issue. I've played in at least 10 different limited matchmaking lobbies and I havent encountered a single cheater. The amount of players that are stuck in this situation as me is insane.
      I should also note that I've never cheated in any game, I have been playing cod since 2010, never been banned. I've played cod in a competitive level back in 2015 and I can easily spot a cheater if I encounter one in a public lobby. I am a platinum-diamond level player at ranked play (which means I am not even that good and i am stuck in this situation...)
      I really think that this issue should be addressed cause its causing a lot of damage in the community, especially good players that have to suffer cause of bad players (and ofc because of how Activision handles things) that report you out of spite or just because they straight up suck at the game and dont understand a thing.
      Thank you if you read this far, been a subscriber for a long time. They definetely listen what u have to say and thats why I came here to address this.

      Yeah, the footstep audio change is nice but I think there is a risk to reward system they could have implemented here:
      All Terrain Boots: Normal footstep audio
      Stalker Boots: has an additional 20% decrease in footstep audio.
      Running Sneakers: has an additional 30% decrease in footstep audio.
      Lightweight Boots: has an additional 45% decrease in footstep audio. (You can barely be heard stand and crouch walking.)
      Tactical Pads: has an additional 60 to 65% decrease in footstep audio I'm not sure. (You can barely be heard running.)
      Reinforced Boots: has an additional 80 to 90% decrease in footstep audio I'm not sure. (You can barely be heard tac sprinting.)
      Covert Sneaker: Your footsteps can't be heard, but there are no additional benefits.
      So those are from the most powerful boots IMO to the weakest from top to bottom and there is a risk to reward aspect of it with opponents hearing your footsteps.
      The highest reduction in footstep audio is the only one that will apply if there are multiple. Also, I would remove the movement reduction effect benefit of the Ninja Vest to make the Reinforced Boots more attractive as well.

Other CoD games that just give quiter footsteps were just fine, if you're paying attention you can catch it but most people wont be.

  • @YangaTalchimora
    @YangaTalchimora 8 месяцев назад +2

    So in my personal opinion (even though I don't play the current CoD), the changes don't exactly remove the reason to take off the Covert Sneakers. Sure, you'll be heard less... by like 5 steps closer. And in the middle of a firefight, you might be able to get to roughly 20m before people can hear you instead of 30m. The problem is that this Audio adjust also makes Covert Sneakers even stronger (and thus perpetuates the whole problem).
    If they want to make it easier for people to not use the Covert Sneakers, they need to make it harder to pinpoint the direction someone is coming from based on Audio, while also not making it loud as hell to approach. If Someone is around a corner, make the audio more muffled so that people don't know how far they are around that corner or make it so it can be interpreted as possibly behind a wall rather than dead on in front of them. Make it require map knowledge rather than "Oh, they're 20m directly in front of me and almost around this exact door frame."
    All of that is why people use Covert Sneakers, you physically don't need to know the map at all if you know how far someone is from you when they're running up to a door. Why learn what the most common positions to swing are when you can just know where they're coming from using purely audio? Covert Sneakers just makes it harder for those who rely purely on Audio, it gives some element of surprise since it cuts down how far they think you actually are from them... or catch them off-guard if they're in a gunfight.
    The solution is either making it hard to pinpoint approach via audio, or flat out removing the sneakers if it's THAT much of a problem for the devs. Although the removal will definitely make people angry since everyone's been asking for a Dead Silence perk instead of a Field Upgrade. The CoD devs and Activi$ion dug this hole, they just gotta work around it or find a way to patch it without falling into it.

    Not only is base footstep audio the problem, but also tac sprint. Back in black ops 2 lightweight(running boots) and dexterity( climbing boots) used to be used way more than dead silence due to everyone not being able to move at crazy speeds all over the map.

      Too bad people complain that tac sprint is needed in cod to make it fast half the people that say that never played older cod without tac sprint cod was still a fast paced shooter compared to any top fps game back then and now. Tac Sprint is ruined cod only way to fix it is them making better servers to keep up with it.

    • @ItsOnlyGenjutsu
      @ItsOnlyGenjutsu 8 месяцев назад +1

      @SmittyEG Interesting that you mention servers as the solution. That makes me assume your gripe with Tac-Sprint is the same as mine. That it causes janky/laggy visuals. And, alot of the time (22-24ms normally for me by the way) straight up teleporting. Like, up your sensitivity if the "speed" is the problem. That's not the big issue in my opinion. Though, I would prefer the older speed. Though, that would make them have to actually put work into spawns lol.

    • @SmittyEG
      @SmittyEG 8 месяцев назад

      @ItsOnlyGenjutsu even if you up your sens it doesnt solve the problem I have no problem killing slide cancelers and bunnyhoppers its just the game can't handle the speed players are moving at it was fine for pure multiplayer lobbies but now with warzone being a thing its gotten worse. It's bad when I can look at my ping and know when its above 50+ms bs is coming and I have to alter my playstyle because of it. And with Microsoft buying company people are hoping to get better servers we might get sbmm taking away before we get better servers its sad as hell when older cods play better than all the newer ones. 🤣

    • @bondaged
      @bondaged 8 месяцев назад

      @@SmittyEG that’s why cod needs to remove tac sprint. Better severs wouldn’t be a solution. They need to find a good middle ground for base movement and better map design. So there wouldn’t be so much dead space on the map and having the need to feel like you need tac sprint to get around.

    I can notice a difference for sure, especially when there is a lot going on, so it isn't as obvious as it was pre-patch, but it still needs a bit more for the tactical and regular running.
    Maybe another 5 to 10m reduction to them. As for crouch, it's very subtle. Walking didn't seem too different to me, especially when i aimed. It felt about the same, honestly.
    I was playing without covert sneakers, and i did notice players couldn't exactly pinpoint me 100 percent of the time. It was 50/50 depending on who i was going against. If the area is quiet i can definitely feel myself being still too loud.
    In all honesty, it still needs more work. A nice fix to the audio, but still not enough.

    The footstep audio change is nice but I think there is a risk to reward system they could implement here:

    Not trying to nitpick but imo its too hard to tell with this technique. Having them run towards you is hard to differentiate because I have to keep the exact timing & volumes in ny head while comparing, which at least for me is not feasable enough to be a useful comparison. For future comparisons maybe have them run side to side at certain significant distances (maybe while live pinged) to more directly compare volume at each distance
    If you really want to compare precisely you could play both clips simultaneously with pre patch audio in one ear and post patch on the other side to compare directly with headphones (although i doubt most people watch with headphones in)

    I'm like level 100 and just got MW3 a couple weeks ago so take this for what you will but I was never a fan of any of the covert sneakers or dead silence or anything like that and almost never ran/run it, like less than 1% of my gameplay in COD since BO1 has been using either of those. Granted I mostly play domination, kill confirmed etc not S&D so it's not super tryhard but point is that unless you're some ultra 2+ kd tryhard you don't need those and they don't benefit you as much as you think considering when I use my good loadout I'm generally in the top 3 or 4 of the whole leaderboard (again assuming I'm not leveling up shitty guns) and generally have a positive kd even with a bunch of sweats (went like 30 k-15 d or something yesterday with no killstreak kills) and also no camping.
    Again people can think what they want but the amount of time I have to listen for footsteps is very little unless its S&D so I feel like everyone is way overreacting and blowing the issue out of proportion because again I never use any of that and still go plenty positive and still play the objective just fine without all that and if everyone keeps crying wolf then they'll probably change it again and if recent history with gaming is anything to go off of they'll 'balance' it by making something else way overpowered or just nerfing this into uselessness so be careful what y'all wish for when the problem isn't that bad.
    Also yeah I wear Steelseries Arctis 9 pro or X or whatever wireless and Arctis 7 pro wireless headsets so its not like I'm listening through TV speakers. The only other thing I can think of is that I play on PC so maybe there's something up that makes them worse for console players but I swear I genuinely don't see the issue and I play games like Rust (1.2k hours since 2019) where not hearing a footstep or listening could cost you hours of work so I can promise I pay attention to those things

    Even if they make the footsteps quieter, since people run loudness equalization in windows settings, I'm still always going to feel the need to run covert sneakers. They should add code that checks your windows settings to see if that setting is on for whatever sound device you are using and force you to turn it off to play the game. Also, bone conduction headset should counter covert sneakers to some extent. maybe not make it as loud as regular footsteps, but to some extent at least. The overwhelming popularity of covert sneakers honestly makes me think MW2 got it right by making it a field upgrade instead of a perk.

I don't think I've ever paid attention to footsteps. I'm not playing competitive with headphones. Plus all the gunfire and constant explosions make hearing footsteps very situational. Like the maps are pretty easy to read once you've played a bit, so I don't need footsteps to know where people are. Also constant uavs. Idk, maybe I'm the out of touch one and everyone else is playing pubs sweating their gourds off lol.

      Yeah but dead silence as a perk is definitely overpowered. I’m not saying it’s a bad perk but; no other sneakers see much use, and it has no counter in the game. Most other perks are designed to have a counter. There should be a natural yin and yang to play styles to keep the game less stale.
      I agree,I don’t think it’s a skill to hear as much as it is just as natural as seeing.
      Ideally though I wouldn’t come into a lobby and everyone is forced to run the same perk. I main S&D and everyone crutches covert sneakers.
      I do think covert sneakers in concept are a good idea, because without them you get some slower playstyles. But I also think they need a logical counter.

      The footstep audio change is nice but subtle I think there is a risk to reward system they could have implemented here:

    Oddly I haven't even tried them. I just put on the movement ones and have left it there.

    The only difference in audio is Yoy can Barely hear The First 2 steps AFTER THE FIRST 2 STEPS They need to make it to were you don’t hear nothing till they damn near on you not completely quiet but I’m not tryna sound like a pack of wolfs running for one kill

    So this is so stupid the problem wasn't the footsteps was to loud but rather not loud enough and that's always been the problem.

    this change wont change the fact that i will still use the covert sneakers most of the time. but it great when i dont it wont be that bad.... in addition im not sure how much i would care since im having a great time on XDEFIANT so my play time would be much less on cod

    They also nerfed the heck out of the greanade launcher RGL 80 in hardcore mode. It is no longer one shot kill but at least 3 shots to kill an enemy in hardcore mode. I had noticed it a few of my games.

    Imagine not trying out other boots because your afraid of being heard. It's like people are terrified of having fun in this game. Like, seriously even with headphones unless your using a mixer the footsteps are not THAT fucking crazy unless your an S&D sweat then I can understand

    Nothing they do will resolve the issue other than removing convert sneakers from the game. The problem is you have to use the sneakers or you’re at a huge disadvantage. Why would anyone think having a permanent dead silence perk in the game would be a good idea, and how could they not realise it would ruin the multiplayer experience. I find it fascinating that they simply cannot comprehend this
