It's really REALLY interesting when you figure that even in THIS fight where Kenpachi looked like he wasn't holding back, that he was in actuality full on still holding back.
Kenpachi wears bells in his hair so his opponent can hear him coming at all times. He wears an eyepatch to hold back the majority of his power. Never uses any special attacks. Only ever uses his right hand while everyone else uses both hands. And to top it all off, his sword is about as sharp as a butter knife. With *all* those handicaps, he's still able to manhandle an anime protagonist. Kenny is a fuckin monster, and I love him for it.
Chad is the luckiest guy in the world(or unlucky because of Kyoraku's power)...He fought one of the most logical, strategic and kindest captain in the whole Soul Society...He is wise, killing Chad would help nothing when there is a mystery around...they need info ! God do i love Kyoraku Shunsui...My 2 favorite Captain in those episode with Kenpachi ! Also probably one of the 3 rare captains who would not have killed him...

One minor thing about Zaraki I really love in this episode, he's NOT stupid. He's smart enough to think about what's going on, to want answers and to understand, he's not like a Luffy, to dumb to get it. No he just 100% genuinely without reservation ADORES fighting. He's smart enough to think things through, to question, logic, and exploit, but that gets in the way of what he wants to do so he ignores it.

Realistically kenpachi should've bodied him here no diff with his feats rest of season . The issue with establishing a power ceiling for main cast this early is you still need to power creep so need to figure out way to make the main cast here (who being captain and vice captains for hundreds of years) should have already reached their ceiling. Imagine if zoro had beat mihawk early on or saskue beat orochimaru. You establish this as the top strength but still need to somehow go up without compromising the story. If kenpachi had that level of powerup why not use it against aizen ?

It's not really plot armor. All Shinigami, except for Kenpachi, can "team up" with their zanpakuto like that. Kenpachi just doesn't because he thought he was so strong that he didn't need to care about his zanpakuto. If he had bonded with his sword, he would have been MUCH more powerful.

When it comes to pure raw power Kenpachi is easily the strongest Captain. The man is a literal freak of nature. *BUT* he's not the strongest captain. Kenpachi is a wild berserker who can only swing his sword meanwhile some other captains are not only really good swordsmen but they also have their Zanpakuto and Kido i.e magical spells.

Also take notice, it's an error of coloring, but it's the last time we will see White with black teeth, it will be white after...
It's not really plot armor in the traditional sense, as it is fully explained why he could survive that attack and keep fighting. I can't explain without massive spoilers, but let's just say that Ichigo is built different and there are already a lot of pieces of foreshadowing as to how that you will only understand much later in the series.

No way did Ichigo won that fight. I really don't like when anime have their main characters just gain extra powers or be born special. I prefer a main character that is absolutely a zero with a very average body and overtime gets stronger just by pure training alone. An actual underdog. Dragon ball Z actually balanced out being born powerful while still mostly training. That is why Goku > Gohan. If you have a kid without any training be stronger than an adult whose been training all their life and you want me too root for them? Nah son.

No MC has more plot amour than Ichigo haha. They always find some way for him to win, even if he falls in defeat the opponent usually give him the dub lol or don’t use an ability that would of wiped Ichigo out lol.
