Fantastic job and great showcase :)
The fact that this mod will not only give us the chance to make full and dynamic builds centered around even the niche types of magics. But also seems like it will fix the fact that every staff is just inferior to the two big ones (with the representative staff just being pushed off to the offhand for the buff), feels very interesting. Looking forward to seeing this mod release, and hope that (Once a well deserved break is had), that maybe a look over of some of the less appreciated incantation schools could be done!
Channeling the storm is my favorite archetype to do in fantasy, thunder and wind are just so cool to use thematically, and I like that you made them poisebreaking spells, thank you!
I recommend making sorceries both available in locations around the map, but also have a way to get them easily like a unique merchant, just because it might be too much work for both the player and the modder to know where these spells would be, though if you want to go the extra mile you can have guide to getting these spells to make it less tedious, maybe even in game through a hint npc, and there can also be unique encounters like a boss(likely a upscaled enemy), though that's about the idea I can go before it goes to making puzzle territory or something similar, that would be a little too much work
Just a suggestion, maybe put the Mt. Gelmir sorcery school symbol on the Sanguine Rupture casting so it would make sense on why it inflicts fire damage on it's projectile, as well as having the same moveset on one of Mt. Gelmir sorceries (the same on how Adula's Moonblade having the Carian symbol on their casting, even if it's actually more considered as a frost spell).
This will be by far my favourite Elden Ring mod, and imo the ONLY viable sorcery mod. What you did is honestly beyond impressive, you can be SO proud of yourself! Not only did you create great spells that you really fit into the official version of the game, but the balancing seems perfect and we can now finally have buffs through sorceries! In my opinion, your mod has the potential to bring so much variety of gameplay to the game, this is like getting a free DLC! I can't wait to start a new character and try your mod. Well done fellow Tarnished, thy creativity befits a crown.
Elden ring reforged adds multiple new spells as well as an overhaul for the existing ones and the rest of the game as well. Each class even has a "generator" spell for it that does low damage and costs low fp but will Regen do on hit. This allows you to do a pure caster run without relying on a melee weapon out of fear of running out of fp
I will ABSOLUTELY recreate my very first character just because I themed him around ancestral spirits and I headcanon that the shaman horns actually grew on his head and gave him spirit magic. Thanks to you, I'll be able to actually play it!!!!
Great video. Btw in case you're open to new spell suggestions I have an idea for a new primeval spell, specifically the primeval version of the glintstone arc spell. This spell would have a continuously forward/wide area of effect hitting everything in front of the player. It would basically be a spell/intelligence build version of the Sacred Relic Sword's Wave of Gold. Ps: lore wise the Primordial Stars spell could have been created by Sellen just like each of the other primeval sorceries were created by a specific primeval wizard.
Hell yeah, man! Thanks for all the hard work as always! I'm sure it's going to be really cool! I'll have to check it out when I finally get this game for PC since I'm on PS4.
Idea for incantations: 1. Ice-lightning dragonbolt [works smilar to redlightning, but applies frost-lightning to weapon and increases resistance to frost massively 2. Death- Applies Death onto weapon 3. Death-Lightning Dragon-Bolt (Slowly builds death-blight on the player, but applies standard lightnimg bolt buffs and applies death to weapon) 4. Destined Death Alternative: Applies the red destined death effect to weapon in off hand. 5. Ice Lightning Sphere: spawns an ball of ice-lightning, similar to Flame of the fell god, that builds frost when it explodes, then the ground leaves an electrical shock that is struck by a ice-lightning bolt 6. Beastial Rampage: Boost movement and attack speed, but increases damage taken 7. Ultimate Form of the Dragon Lord: Similar to Placcidusax's Ruin, but uses all 4 heads 8. Undead Revival: Revives you once after death, but with 1 hp, and capping your health til the boss is defeated/til you die and respawn (Just a few ideas)
You should make a custom staff for each sorcery type that buffs that one type. So that if people wanted to roleplay with a cool build, then they could have the staff they want that fits their magic type. Great work. I love your content, and am super excited for this to release.
so this is already mad impressive, but what makes this even crazier is that they ALL HAVE UNIQUE ICONS. spell icons especially are a pain in the dick to make because you can't just use a high rez picture of the model. amazing work
Me and my friend have been wanting to do a "Goddess of the Sun/God of the Moon" playthrough (glorified Fire and Ice where we can only use spells of our character theme. We were looking at which spells we would be able to use and all that but for his character (ice), there isnt very much variety for him in the vanilla game and any mod that just so happens to add ice spells (if there are any) were either just reskins of other spells or completely busted in terms of balance. Coincidently, that same day you announced that you were starting work on this mod, and i mentioned to him that we should wait on the playthrough until we can have this mod, even though we already created the characters. Super excited for this mod to come out so we can finally do the playthrough!
I'm genuinely looking forward to this. Just finished a sorcery playthrough and I can't wait to try all these new spells. Everything looks so clean and well thought out.
This is really awesome. Fromsoft's magic does commonly feel like an afterthought, always having so much potentislly but rarely living up to it. Ending up as a gunstick, with "fun" alternatives always being so many orders of magnitude less efficient that it makes you wonder why they're even in the game. I cant wait to see more of this mod. On a tangentially related note, not that id expect a random YT comment to have any impact on your plans with this mod, but ive always thought casting staves, idols, etc being needed for spells as an uneccessary byproduct of older, more archaic mentalities for medieval fantasy. Especially now with weapon arts so fleshed out, it feels like magic should be able to be cast from a weapon or shield or whatnot (albeit with some minor damage or "# of learnable spells" penalty of course) as long as spell requirements are met. Just a passing thought though.
It looks amazing ! But I also think that the storm sorcelleries should be storm incantations instead. Anyway that's one of the most ambitious Elden ring mod ever and seems really well thought out. Hoping to see more soon
This looks like a really well made and funny overhaul. Fromsoft should hire people like you. A few guys per team, one team makes a skill overhaul, another one quests, another bosses etc. All mods available as a modloader at the start menu. Then when all is finished, release it as a DLC für 15 bucks, 50/50 split between creators and FromSoft. Or a fixed amount / normal contract hourly based.
I look forward to trying this out! One thing i will say, it does seem like most of these sorceries border on weak enough to be "why would i use this instead of X" levels of weak simply out of fear of otherwise being too op... If the spells are shown in this video to be with 80 int and a +10 carian scepter, it should definitely have comparable damage outputs to an 80 faith incantation like lightning spear, or a +25 regular weapon, and most of those should easily hit in the 600+ range, so most of these sorceries fall short in comparison on TOP of costing fp to use instead of being free. In my honest opinion, don't be afraid to let your sorceries shine, make sure they're useful enough that the fun of using them AND the strategic advantage of them being better choices for damage or status effects come together, this mod definitely feels like a celebration of all things magic so let the magic be the star. I think from what i've seen in the video, you could probably boost most numbers by around 15-30% and still have them be fairly balanced. 80 int +10 scepter should be peak magic, it's the strength of a build fully dedicated to being high damage, they should be past the median point of damage dealing in a comparable build of different qualities.
Absolutely love the Support Sorceries here! Sorceries in the base game are usually pretty fun to use, but compared to the ammount of options you have with incantations it felt like I'd be missing out leveling Intelligence. Ancestral Sorceries seem like they'll remedy that, and I'm down for it!
Its amazing how nothing looks "tacked" on. All the spells incorporate beautifully into the game. Sanguine Rupture and Great Storm Spear are my favs. I love how they actually protect the caster during start up. Absolutely fantastic work!
just imagine what could be done with a total magic overhaul, we could get more scarlet rot and blood spells as well as maybe getting new spells from previous souls games, I would wait an eternity for it to release if it were made.
People are really popping off with this modded content and you are NO exception!! The stormveil spells look fucking insane, can't wait to try this out!!
Bro, this is BRILLIANT! You definitely got talent and creativity to make such an amazing mod happen. This is the best magic mod I've ever seen for Elden Ring, even though a lot of people tried. Such a wide and creative, yet balanced and not overloaded use of all sorts of animations brings joy to my heart and pleasure to my eyes. This is just outstanding!
Flavour text for River of Knives: Although this sorcery was originally crafted by the Ancient Heroes of Zamor in the Erdtree forces' fabled war against the giants and their evil Fell Deity, it also became harshly reviled by the Zamor people, for it robbed them of an honourable fight against their mortal enemies. It is rumored that they forbade it in the aftermath of this historic battle due to its insidious effectiveness against giants.
Dark souls magic will ALWAYS hold a place in my heart, for being the first unique non elemental magic system that really intrigued me. But I cannot deny the coolness that it Elden ring magic, so much variety and with this mod it makes it even better !
Hi Rusty! For an interesting casting focus, I was wondering if the mod could include an oath to the outer gods. Either the greater will or not...the idea goes like this: you need to do a gesture before the two fingers to gain a buff similar to a great rune. The implications in play are: you need to unlock the gesture to unlock the boon, and that leads to more quests. The fundamentalist 'T' pose, for example, could give a certain buff to holy dmg? Fire spur me, protects from fire dmg? The groveling something else, etc. I think it could add a whole layer to the game, and since you get Rapture the first time you meet the two fingers, from the crone, that should be the base buff? :) Erudition already is used to open seals...
I really love how seamless these spells are, in the way that they really feel like they belong in the game. Really excited for this mods release, it looks awesome!
Your storm sorcery that uses Bolt of Gransax' animation just reminded me of how much I just wish the Ancient Lightning Spear was a projectile, rather than an Ancient Lightning Stake... We could've had both, no problem, if it was that important to have ANOTHER player centered aoe Ancient Dragon incantation.
This looks really promising. I hope you managed to give each school of magic its own identity as you said in the first announcement. I prefer using faith spells/incantations in souls games, but I'll definitely check this out upon release !
Just from this showcase i have to say this looks incredible. Im mostly impressed by how you managed to make them all interesting. they arent all just more ways of doing damage and they arent way over the top like you see many modders try. This feels like its going to be balanced but interesting without just filling the screen with overpowered projectiles. absolutely looking forward to this!!
Your creativity and execution with mods like this is truly amazing! I'm wondering if you would consider doing a modding tutorial or two in the future for people inspired to make mods of their own even though they know next to nothing about it, like me.
This looks so good because it’s not disgustingly flashy and OP like the other sorcery or AOW mods. If I wanted to play DMC I will play DMC. Thank you for this excellent contribution
Needs a blood spell that restores FP at the cost of HP. Also it needs more sleep spells. The night sorcery additions are the most thematically fitting ones by laying traps and having an Undead Raport effect.
I love how these new editions aren’t just massive aoe attacks that 1 shot bosses (like other mods) but instead are thought out editions that could be added in P.S i think it’d be interesting to make a sorcery (or incant if those are up next) where the enemy gets an Oman debuff and can’t heal with any outside source of healing, that way doing doing something like erdtree heal can be countered
Born from an ambitious astrologer's mind and his understanding of magic beyond the comprehension of the fools of the academy, powerful sorceries of storms, forbidden rites, and the very stars have been found in the Lands Between. Some of which were discovered from beyond the fog.
The names for the mod I would suggest are: Sorcery Overhaul (might be the best one imo) The Awakened sorcery And Spells of the crescent moon (it’s both half of the full moon from renalla and the other half is lunar moon ranni)
This is easily the coolest fucking mod ive seen, completely custom stuff and it seems to be adding onto the smaller cast of spells like yk blood which... Exists
You gave many under appreciated classes way more options, while making them all unique instead of being mainly different in terms of numbers or statistics instead of actual usage. Very good rusty, but some things look pretty OP, like River of Knives and Great Storm Spear. At the very least I think Great Storm Spear’s knockback attack should be smaller. Also, don’t make a mod for incantations, because I want to make one myself =)
i'm really excited to play this! with your situational awareness for finding best use cases for every spell and incantation, i trust your design process and balancing for spells.
Looks like Elden ring will be the next Skyrim when it comes to modding and this mod right here will be a must have for each playthrough. Would be amazing if Fromsoft contacted you guys and paid you to put these spells in the base game. It would make sorcery so much better and would make the world feel a lot more worth exploring. My main complaint with sorcery in Elden ring would be the lack of some spell types being cast aside for example Briars of Punishment is the only thorn spell and that's sad because it would be cool to make a build around that particular type of element, but with this mod it seems like you guys focused a lot on expanding the variety of the spell types, so there are more unique sorcery builds not just frost and Glintstone ones.
Love everything your doing here. Magic really has been a highlight of Eldenring for me. Especially love the mind control function. (Was very sad to see Tibia's Summons was not actually a summon, Ashes are cool but I really wanted to have a minion or summon my pets to buff and heal.))
I'm literally gonna but Elden Ring again for PC just to try the mod. These look so well made and I can't wait to try out different combinations with them.
Yo Rusty don't know if you read my last comment, but it would be really great if you can appoint one spell as an ash of war for your staff. So that certain reaction based spells, like spell parries or dodges can be cast reactively instead of prepared.
I hope you make a video with a quick tip on them all. Your style of explaining and your humour would make it very awesome, :) Also, a title: "Lost Spells From The Shattering". Nods to the shattering event of Elden Ring.
Now THIS is a sorcery mod I can get behind. None of the overpowered gimmicks and overly flashy crap you see in something like Garden of Eyes's mods, balanced against the games systems and carefully made to fit within existing lore and mechanics.
a good idea is to look at current spells like the glintstone arc and make a grander version of it, like make it bigger and have a special rebound or something, oh there can also be more sleep spells, but I feel that would require some insane balancing
My personal favorite is the one that sets a trap, it kinda creates an interesting play style in which you become a trapper. It would be fun to see that in online as it would make a few interesting mind games you have to play with your opponents on whether or not you want to run at them or not.
This is awesome. So many of these feel like they could actually have been in the base game. I especially love the genius of the takers cameo spell, it seems so logical and at home in the game. One thing I’ll say is I’m weary of the balance of Nightbearer grip. I know you balance it with the stats of the enemies and I know you’re cautious of it too, but it really feels like something that could trivialize many encounters. The bewitching branch is an item you have to craft, and is limited, this feels a little too spammable. I’m sure you’ve got it under control though. Anyway, I’m so excited for this mod to release, great storm spear feels like the coolest shit ever and I can’t wait to see what you do with the primeval sorceries, and hope to see some ghost flame love as well.
This looks great, but just to make sure you know about it, there’s something going on with the staff at 8:09, it either flips around or becomes a sword. Might want to fix that before the release
It doesnt flip or turn into a sword, the animation is just a little bit jarring with how fast the arm moves. Its a much clearer animation at 0.25x speed Edit: that being said, now i realize that the player character's wrist moves unnaturally during the follow-up attack. This might be a vanilla problem though, as i believe most of these animations are taken from already-existing attacks
Rusty really went blood spells suck and then said fuck it I'll make my own. In all seriousness thank you Rusty and the modding community you guys do phenomenal work in adding new things to fromsoftware games that make the game that much more unique to play, keep up the amazing work Rusty.

Gelmir sorceries (the same on how Adula's Moonblade having the Carian symbol on their casting, even if it's actually more considered as a frost spell).
bloodflame mohg uses bloodflame
Thanks to you, I'll be able to actually play it!!!!
the genuine level of detail and care to make sure everything fits to the story still, this is incredible
Idea for incantations:
1. Ice-lightning dragonbolt [works smilar to redlightning, but applies frost-lightning to weapon and increases resistance to frost massively
2. Death- Applies Death onto weapon
3. Death-Lightning Dragon-Bolt
(Slowly builds death-blight on the player, but applies standard lightnimg bolt buffs and applies death to weapon)
4. Destined Death Alternative: Applies the red destined death effect to weapon in off hand.
5. Ice Lightning Sphere: spawns an ball of ice-lightning, similar to Flame of the fell god, that builds frost when it explodes, then the ground leaves an electrical shock that is struck by a ice-lightning bolt
6. Beastial Rampage: Boost movement and attack speed, but increases damage taken
7. Ultimate Form of the Dragon Lord: Similar to Placcidusax's Ruin, but uses all 4 heads
8. Undead Revival: Revives you once after death, but with 1 hp, and capping your health til the boss is defeated/til you die and respawn
(Just a few ideas)
Brother, you've done it. Im new to your channel, and now I'm never leaving! You truly know what you're doing, regardless of what your banner says.
God, I wish people like you were on... Just every game's development team. Magic in video games has so much unrealized potential.
Hoping to see more soon
you're hilarious, your guides are insightful and this is some of the best looking mod works I have seen for ER
A fine job with this mod, going to be fun to try it.
Hard work must be rewarded.
Well done good chap.
Can't wait for it homie
Looks fuckin rad and i see how much effort you put into it
This is SO COOL. I wish i was on PC so i could download this but I love seeing the progress!!
3:33 This reminds me of something…
Kos…or some say KOSM. Do you hear our prayers?
OOOOOOO MAJESTIC! A hunter is a hunter even in a dream!
Flavour text for River of Knives:
Although this sorcery was originally crafted by the Ancient Heroes of Zamor in the Erdtree forces' fabled war against the giants and their evil Fell Deity, it also became harshly reviled by the Zamor people, for it robbed them of an honourable fight against their mortal enemies.
We love the look of these. It's an incredible amount of effort you've put into this, and you should be proud of it.
Favourite by far is Darkstar of the Naturalborn, shame I play on PS4 so I can't use these first hand. You should be proud of what you made
This looks so good because it’s not disgustingly flashy and OP like the other sorcery or AOW mods. If I wanted to play DMC I will play DMC. Thank you for this excellent contribution
Needs a blood spell that restores FP at the cost of HP. Also it needs more sleep spells. The night sorcery additions are the most thematically fitting ones by laying traps and having an Undead Raport effect.
I love how these new editions aren’t just massive aoe attacks that 1 shot bosses (like other mods) but instead are thought out editions that could be added in
P.S i think it’d be interesting to make a sorcery (or incant if those are up next) where the enemy gets an Oman debuff and can’t heal with any outside source of healing, that way doing doing something like erdtree heal can be countered
Born from an ambitious astrologer's mind and his understanding of magic beyond the comprehension of the fools of the academy, powerful sorceries of storms, forbidden rites, and the very stars have been found in the Lands Between. Some of which were discovered from beyond the fog.
I can imagine Rusty with his tired eyes right now. Great video as always!!
I was bit mistaken as was the DLC spells but nope was a mode which to me looks so great like it was officially part of the game. Just amazing!
I have never been so excited for a mod in my life and I love what you have done. And for the title of this mod I like the idea of (Arcane Eruption).
Would be really cool to have a talk through of each spell, inspiration behind them lore wise and what made you create them for the game!
The names for the mod I would suggest are:
Sorcery Overhaul (might be the best one imo)
The Awakened sorcery
And
Spells of the crescent moon
(it’s both half of the full moon from renalla and the other half is lunar moon ranni)
I have never Modded before, and I've never really wanted to. But wow... I don't even have words for how exciting that looks.
(Was very sad to see Tibia's Summons was not actually a summon, Ashes are cool but I really wanted to have a minion or summon my pets to buff and heal.))
imagine this combine with the reforged mod ! this can become one of the greatest mod of elden ring
I'm literally gonna but Elden Ring again for PC just to try the mod. These look so well made and I can't wait to try out different combinations with them.
Definitely will be downloading this. The storm sorceries will be especially useful in the co-op game I'll be playing.
The work you're doing is unbelievable. Thank you so much
Yo Rusty don't know if you read my last comment, but it would be really great if you can appoint one spell as an ash of war for your staff. So that certain reaction based spells, like spell parries or dodges can be cast reactively instead of prepared.
SO COOOL! cant wait to play this! Its like when i first played convergence mod in DS3, bless you!
I hope you make a video with a quick tip on them all. Your style of explaining and your humour would make it very awesome, :)
Also, a title: "Lost Spells From The Shattering". Nods to the shattering event of Elden Ring.
Assuming these spells aren’t all just “win I”, buttons this will be very cool.
I am very excited about this mod.
This big question is how much will it cost and will updates be included in the price?
My personal favorite is the one that sets a trap, it kinda creates an interesting play style in which you become a trapper. It would be fun to see that in online as it would make a few interesting mind games you have to play with your opponents on whether or not you want to run at them or not.
Its amazing to see how many of these genuinely make sense if you get what I mean
Its a much clearer animation at 0.25x speed
Edit: that being said, now i realize that the player character's wrist moves unnaturally during the follow-up attack. This might be a vanilla problem though, as i believe most of these animations are taken from already-existing attacks
This looks amazing! As someone who beat Elden Ring with sorceries, I can't wait to get back into it and explore all the new spells to role-play with!
In regards to naming - Sorceress Sellen comes to mind - Sorceress Sellen's School Of Magics - Something like that :)
i am actually very excited for this, this mod from the detailed icons to the creative castings is truly captivating !! Great Job !
Wow, this looks incredible!
Please do incantations next!!
love from Japan!
Rusty really went blood spells suck and then said fuck it I'll make my own.
In all seriousness thank you Rusty and the modding community you guys do phenomenal work in adding new things to fromsoftware games that make the game that much more unique to play, keep up the amazing work Rusty.
