Another thing you can do is buff the prelates hammer with bleed and do the weapon art against malenia. It will then cause an infinate stunlock against her as long as you have stamina and because of the bleed you will get good damage.
Another tip for Raptor of the Mists: Dragonbolt Blessing makes it so enemies' attacks will bounce off of you. This works even with RotM active, so instead of them continuing their attack chain and potentially counter-hitting you out of a jump attack, you can almost always get a free hit in. Great synergy
Raptor of the Mists also doesn't consume fp unless you actually get hit during the counter window, so it has great longevity during longer fights since the fp cost when you do get hit is miniscule.
Something I know a lot of people don't know is that you can cancel the recovery frames, not just with an attack or roll, but also crouch. This can also be an "option select" to use a fighting game term since if you buffer a crouch everytime, it won't prevent you from performing any other action, meaning always buffering a crouch can only ever let you go net neutral or net positive.
Have 2 of these bad bitties with bleed on em and man do they go to TOWN especially with bloodhound step! Doing 128 bleed per hammer so basically 2 double big bonks and whatever your hitting is gunna bleed resistant or not

Bonus for Wild Strikes. Put it on Great Stars (as everyone does) go against Mogh. Shackle him. Go to town. Totally skip phase one. Put bubble. Go to town during Nihil, break posture immediately. Totally skip phase two I call it the Bloodbonk
Also important to note that unlike Storm Wall or Golden Parry, Carian Retaliation only costs FP when you successfully parry a spell. Missing a parry or parrying a melee attack does not cost FP, but still gives small shield parry frames to medium shields.
I love how damn cool all 4 Occult AoW's are, probably the best but most underrated of the Arc-scaling ashes. Lifesteal for short range, Spectral Lance for long range, and AG + WsL for utility and stealth. Could carry you through the game if used right!
Note on Sacred Blade. Not only does it shoot the wave, and hard kills skeletons. It applies a 40 second (used to be 20 second) holy buff to your weapon making it hit a bit harder, continuing the "Kills skeletons dead" effect for a while longer making a lot of catacombs trivial. Of special not, is there's a necromancer around who's rezzing the skeletons, Sacred Blade/its buff will stop that form of resurrection as well.
Fun fact about shared order: It doesn't just increase one weapon's damage, it boosts ALL your weapons' damage. On top of that, if you use two weapons with the buff they stack.
5:18 Golden Land also has a sweeping follow up attack which is extremely useful but I only found out after hours of using this ash lol. Phantom Slash and Wild Strikes also have great follow up attacks.
9:25 poison moth flight isn't just meant to build up poison. When an enemy is already poisoned, the attack will have a sort of bleed effect and they'll lose a substantial amount of hp. It goes through shields too. The enemy will no longer be poisoned after it. You can use it at the end of the poison time to squeeze extra damage out of it, or repeatedly poison and use it.
Given that the buff from kindred of rots exultation lasts 20 seconds, but most poison effects last longer than 20 seconds, this could be a good way of refreshing that buff early.
@@Aldaking444 yea, I haven't tried it yet cause I've been doing a Damage over Time build (rot + poison from poison spraymist aromatic + fires deadly sin + blade of death + black flame incantations + eventually fire prelates charge) but I'm assuming it works very well cause the mushroom crown also gives 10% for potentially full uptime of 30% boost
I've tried Poison Moth flight. It sucks. The extra attack ends the poison effect and does slightly less damage than Blood slash. I tested it while I was trying to make a poison weapon. Sure, you can get a bit more damage out of poison you apply if you eat the end of it. Or you could just poison them normally and use an actually useful Ash of War.
5:18 Another thing about Golden Land: Great Club comes with it for free AND the weapon is BUFFABLE. I don't know if the buff transfers to the weapon art, but it might be fun to test.
I've got a kinda neat Seppuku tip. it's super situational, but the self-bleed from Seppuku overrides any kind of enemy bleed. Since the self-bleed on the AoW is 10%, you can get out of some kinda nasty damage if you manage to kill the enemy that was building Bleed on you, but you know there are others around and you can't/don't want to wait around for the meter to fall.
Shared Order is actually distinct from Sacred Order in that it's a buff that augments all damage you do rather than just your weapon, similar to how seppuku augments other bleed damage you do. Use Shared Order and then toss holy water pots for absurd bonus damage against undead enemies like Deathbirds. At just ~10 FTH I was dealing 1400 damage to deathbirds per pot with this combo on headshots.
Another tip for shield slam is that it actually counts for blocking, but unlike a normal block, if your stamina goes to/below 0, you dont get poise broken.
Also of note with Cragblade, the animation of plunging your weapon into the ground and pulling it out covered in stone is a two part attack (the initial plunge, and then the pull) that does damage. It's super close range, but it does put the hurt on things that like to charge you while you use your ashes.
A small add on for Stamp: Sweep & the Flaming Strike ashes of war: it allows you to add a very effective horizontal 'sweep' attacks to weapons whose move sets lack them. The Godskin Stitcher Heavy Thrusting Sword for instance loses the sweeping R2 of the Great Epee found earlier in the game, but with the flame strike ash of war you can keep the new R2 while still having a reliable sweep attack for crowd control & roll catches. At 0 FP, Sacred Blade also kinda works this way as the blade gains a hit box to compensate for the lack of sword beams.
From what I hear, barbaric roars 3 hit R2’s only true combo when used on specific weapon types (fists, flails, and I think hammers?). I believe it only hits twice on other weapons.
Little bonus for Carian Retaliation: it only consumes FP if it parries a projectile, unlike Golden Parry which always consumes FP. Get all the frame data benefits and none of the FP cost.
Something you missed with spectral lance that i've noticed from using it in pvp for a while, it actually slightly auto tracks your enemy when its at the half way point of reaching its destination. The best part is that it almost always gets a headshot if theyre in a long combo or they just got out of a dodge roll and headshots do like 300 extra damage. It also stacks with one of the arrow talismans but i forgot which one
Don't forget you can use Raptor of the Mists do easily dodge through the chariots, skipping big chunks of dungeons. Also, you can use Quickstep to get through swampy areas where you can't sprint, it makes them trivial and you can even do it with no fp.
Extra Tips I've found on my own: 1-The spinning of the Ice Spear can also block the Breath Weapon attack from the fat Omens, not sure what else it can block. 2-You can ignore a Reflection attack on you with a Parry. 3-Phantom Spear can land Head Shots.

God damn I actually love these videos. You are god tier at making these informational, short and convince but somehow also sprinkling in your own personality and humor into them. I already know most of these but hearing what you have to say about each of them is like 90% of the fun.
Tip for the torch attack. In early game, the torch in your left hand will likely kill Miners better than the weapon in your right hand. It helps with the early mines where you need light anyway.
I appreciate how much people respect Wild Swings and Rusted Anchor, experiment early on when i started playing and ive never been disapointed with it since
10:04 the reduced range on this from 1.06 ended up being a buff because you can now VERY CONSISTENTLY quickstep straight around an enemy for a free backstab after they throw out an attack

A nice tip for braggarts roar, the follow up charged attacks get buffed from roar medallion, axe talisman, spiked tear and highland axe if you have it on your off hand. I managed to get 2200+ damage on a single charged swing with a colossal weapon.
Can I also say that Hoara Loux’s earthshaker is also very good in invasion. Most people don’t realise the range of it, and the poise damage it does. Also, the litteral damage it does is enough to two hit someone. Also, to help it even more, if you are close to the ennemie, the roar will stagger them (making them vulnerable even with the long build up) and I’ve been never thrown out of the animation. So yeah, it’s realy good. Especially those who don’t understand and try to kill you before. Cute.
Another great tip about War Cry is that when used by your main weapon while holding 2 weapons, it’ll buff both, which means not only can you get damage buffs for both weapons in powerstancing, but you can buff unbuffable weapons with it(Like most somber weapons). Even weapons that don’t have a warcry moveset(Which is kinda funny)
Update about the weapons without a war cry moveset that you can buff with it through this: Do it. Really, do it. Get either a Dagger, Whip or Thrusting Sword(Be it big or small) on you left hand, buff with a war cry weapon on your right hand, then 2 hand your left weapon and try using the R2 on any enemy and please tell me your reaction

reduvia has a unique version of the blood blade skill allowing you to use it without the self damage just incase anyone was wondering and yes I've used it before so I know what I'm talking about here
Barbaric roar changes the charged heavy of EVERY weapon it can go on, to a three hit combo that does about 2x regular damage if you can land all 3 hits
Probably most players already know this, but you can put Shield Crash on the fingerprint shield and bleed infuse it, anything that's not immune/resistant to bleed and madness gets completely steam rolled, especially if you upgrade the shield Very fun in PvE, total cancer in PvP
Shared Order is an aura type buff( takes up same slot as golden vow) so you can use it even if you have an uninfusable weapon by putting it on a dagger or other lightweight weapon

Shield crash is also really good at proccing status too. I did the briar greatshield with cold. Hits 5 or 6 times in the animation. Dump trucks worth of dmg.
If you want Alecto to be even less threatening, I recommend bringing at least one part of the Briar set. The roll can even stagger her out of Helm Breaker

Prelates Charge can be used to run though Deep Lava and Rot great for Gelmir Hero's Grave to get the Ringed Finger Weapon and out running the chariots inside and ALL of Volcano Manor
Malenia's waterfowl dance can be trivialized in a number of ways: bloodhound step, freeze pots, any one hit that staggers (i.e. jump attacks with downward motion), etc. Has made NG+5-7 fights against her rather easy.
@@NathanSavageDamage yes, yes it absolutely can. Did it with Full Grown Beat Jaw and last time did it with Cold Nagakiba. You just have to deal enough damage to cause the stun/stance break.
@@actualreplyguy She doesn't stance break on hyperarmour attacks,, only when inflicted with a status, frost or bleed for example, the Cold Nagakiba sense for that, not sure how you did it with Fallingstar Jaw though, is there any examples I can find of people stance breaking it without bleed or frost?

I learned about it in Reddit someone posted a gif (maybe a month ago or so) staggering her with a Ruins GS, I think, so I began doing it with my weaps too and worked like a charm in NG+5-7 since I do not have the twitch skill to switch from combat to freeze pot throwing. I can and have done it, but I have to literally not attack her until she jumps up and then throw the pot which could be a good while due to RNG. The brute force stagger approach was godsent.

Another tip for Raptors is the mist: it can be used to deal with the chariots. One use it and they'll pass right by you since they're going so fast trivilizing the threat they pose.
Hoarah Loux's Earthshaker is a handy delete button if you are farming the clifftop Albinaurics at Mogh's palace. The roar will stop that maddening rolling-ball-of-spikes thing they do and stun lock them within the range of the follow-up. Mimic Tear with this in the lower lake level clears everyone out quick (it will catch the submerged ones and stun them, too, so they can't sneak up on you). With Golden Scarab, go to town for late game levelling.
one thing i wanna add onto barricade shield as a shield boy for most of my run is that when you press the button it is blocking, so you can use it as a parry :)
The real tip for Waves of Darkness is if you want to land a hit with the followup R2, just cast it when you're out of FP! It'll land and even do damage! The rest of the ash doesn't work, though. Oh well.
Torch Attack: the fire damage make miners go kaboom Wild Strikes: you can immediately go into the follow up attacks from the start for mix ups and the light attack will duck under some swings.
This is so underappreciated. Even in fantasy rolling is an absolutely idiotic way of dodging. It does not convey to human anatomy so its absolutely moronic regardless of any levels of realism.

Spectral lance, for whatever reason, was coded like an arrow. The reason its damage is so poor, is because it has super short range for damage fall off. Equipping the arrow's reach talisman can help mitigate this downside. Note: the arrow's sting talisman does NOT work with this ash of war, just arrow's reach.
roiling magma works extremely well with radahns weapons. Since his ash of war pulls enemies all the way to you, even if they get caught at the edge. What’s cool is a roiling magma IMMEDIATELY followed by starcaller cry allows you to pull the enemy to you, and as you finish off your weapon art, you’re gonna see a badass purple explosion as the same exact time the magma explodes.
Anyone who blocks Malenisa's waterfowl dance is a madman! Also Shard of Alexander affects Lightning Rams damage as well since it's a Weapon Art and Lightning-Shrouded Cracked tear!
It's worth noting that on shared order, both for the caster and anybody around, the buff technically isn't a weapon buff, it's a player buff. Meaning you can pair it with a spell or grease to get even higher damage. In certain cases with the right stuff, you could achieve 1k or more damage with a single colossal sword hit, even if the enemy isn't undead.
Sacred Blade is great if you don't want to put the 13 int/fai into Sacred Order blade and you're just passing through an area, although if you're in a heavy undead area and are clearing it/farming for stuff I'd pick the spell. The spell lasts much longer for the cost of FP to use it and there's no temptation to try and launch a magic projectile that you can get stunned out of by enemy hitspam. Really wish holy damage was more viable in PVP, covenants associated with Those-who-live-in-death could help fix that. Edit - Also, good news. Waves of Darkness has been fixed. The broken R2 works as intended.
for a fun time use crag blade on caestuses with the raptor armor and claw talisman, you'll be destroying posture with jump attacks, I managed to stagger the fire giant like 4 times in a single fight with this combo
Played my entire first play through with “square off” on a broad sword. Timing can get a little difficult but typically 2, max 3 hits with this with stagger anything in the game for a critical.
prayerful strike makes your mimic nigh immortal. the healing is % based and mimic is a truck 😂 also redmanes flame is so op that it alone can make the game trivial 🤣 them are my fave 2.
The Lightning Slash stomp has a hitbox and can stagger for long enough to land the strike. The delay of the lightning ("meaty" in FGC terms) is also good because it gives you more chance to get off a charge R2 or something.
Worth mentioning that the strong attack on Unsheathe headshots for greater damage and stun so it's ideal for humanoid foes and will almost always stance-break them if it doesn't kill outright.

AND you can chain a hard hitting spinning R2 attack out of "Golden Order" as this heavy attack comes along the ash of war.
And the Great Club just got faith scaling with 1.9, so it’s even better with Golden Land

Weapon art glintstone phalanx will apply your armament effect ie casting blackflame blade will make the swords deal black flame damage as well

Tip for the torch attack. In early game, the torch in your left hand will likely kill Miners better than the weapon in your right hand. It helps with the early mines where you need light anyway.

the reduced range on this from 1.06 ended up being a buff because you can now VERY CONSISTENTLY quickstep straight around an enemy for a free backstab after they throw out an attack

A nice tip for braggarts roar, the follow up charged attacks get buffed from roar medallion, axe talisman, spiked tear and highland axe if you have it on your off hand. I managed to get 2200+ damage on a single charged swing with a colossal weapon.
Can I also say that Hoara Loux’s earthshaker is also very good in invasion. Most people don’t realise the range of it, and the poise damage it does. Also, the litteral damage it does is enough to two hit someone. Also, to help it even more, if you are close to the ennemie, the roar will stagger them (making them vulnerable even with the long build up) and I’ve been never thrown out of the animation. So yeah, it’s realy good. Especially those who don’t understand and try to kill you before. Cute.
Another great tip about War Cry is that when used by your main weapon while holding 2 weapons, it’ll buff both, which means not only can you get damage buffs for both weapons in powerstancing, but you can buff unbuffable weapons with it(Like most somber weapons). Even weapons that don’t have a warcry moveset(Which is kinda funny)
Update about the weapons without a war cry moveset that you can buff with it through this: Do it. Really, do it. Get either a Dagger, Whip or Thrusting Sword(Be it big or small) on you left hand, buff with a war cry weapon on your right hand, then 2 hand your left weapon and try using the R2 on any enemy and please tell me your reaction

Poison mist on great star is a great heal as each dot of poison is considered a hit. Useful on big or slow target thst stay in the mist.

reduvia has a unique version of the blood blade skill allowing you to use it without the self damage just incase anyone was wondering and yes I've used it before so I know what I'm talking about here

Barbaric roar changes the charged heavy of EVERY weapon it can go on, to a three hit combo that does about 2x regular damage if you can land all 3 hits
Probably most players already know this, but you can put Shield Crash on the fingerprint shield and bleed infuse it, anything that's not immune/resistant to bleed and madness gets completely steam rolled, especially if you upgrade the shield
Very fun in PvE, total cancer in PvP
Shared Order is an aura type buff( takes up same slot as golden vow) so you can use it even if you have an uninfusable weapon by putting it on a dagger or other lightweight weapon
Also you can stack it with sacred order

I found torch attack to actually be pretty useful against large Miranda blooms because the fire completely stops them for a bit at no FP cost

Shield crash is also really good at proccing status too. I did the briar greatshield with cold. Hits 5 or 6 times in the animation. Dump trucks worth of dmg.
Sword dance has literally carried me through Ringleader with some good timing and bleed. Such a good and fun ash!!
If you want Alecto to be even less threatening, I recommend bringing at least one part of the Briar set. The roll can even stagger her out of Helm Breaker

Prelates Charge can be used to run though Deep Lava and Rot great for Gelmir Hero's Grave to get the Ringed Finger Weapon and out running the chariots inside and ALL of Volcano Manor
Roar Medallion also buffs the heavy attacks changed by Barbaric Roar/Warcry. Stacks with Axe Talisman AND the crystal tear.
Malenia's waterfowl dance can be trivialized in a number of ways: bloodhound step, freeze pots, any one hit that staggers (i.e. jump attacks with downward motion), etc. Has made NG+5-7 fights against her rather easy.
Waterfowl cannot be stance broken.
@@NathanSavageDamage yes, yes it absolutely can. Did it with Full Grown Beat Jaw and last time did it with Cold Nagakiba. You just have to deal enough damage to cause the stun/stance break.
@@actualreplyguy She doesn't stance break on hyperarmour attacks,, only when inflicted with a status, frost or bleed for example, the Cold Nagakiba sense for that, not sure how you did it with Fallingstar Jaw though, is there any examples I can find of people stance breaking it without bleed or frost?

I learned about it in Reddit someone posted a gif (maybe a month ago or so) staggering her with a Ruins GS, I think, so I began doing it with my weaps too and worked like a charm in NG+5-7 since I do not have the twitch skill to switch from combat to freeze pot throwing. I can and have done it, but I have to literally not attack her until she jumps up and then throw the pot which could be a good while due to RNG. The brute force stagger approach was godsent.

Another tip for Raptors is the mist: it can be used to deal with the chariots. One use it and they'll pass right by you since they're going so fast trivilizing the threat they pose.
Hoarah Loux's Earthshaker is a handy delete button if you are farming the clifftop Albinaurics at Mogh's palace. The roar will stop that maddening rolling-ball-of-spikes thing they do and stun lock them within the range of the follow-up. Mimic Tear with this in the lower lake level clears everyone out quick (it will catch the submerged ones and stun them, too, so they can't sneak up on you). With Golden Scarab, go to town for late game levelling.
one thing i wanna add onto barricade shield as a shield boy for most of my run is that when you press the button it is blocking, so you can use it as a parry :)
Dude, storm blade has a surprisingly long shelf life - I was able to essentially keep it as a ranged option on my dex character for most of the game

It's more like "press L2 not to die" you still have to be competent enough to deal damage and I've found most BHS spammers aren't.
The real tip for Waves of Darkness is if you want to land a hit with the followup R2, just cast it when you're out of FP! It'll land and even do damage! The rest of the ash doesn't work, though. Oh well.
Torch Attack: the fire damage make miners go kaboom
Wild Strikes: you can immediately go into the follow up attacks from the start for mix ups and the light attack will duck under some swings.
whatever mod you have that replaces the dodge with the step looks amazing. i wish that was the default dodge in this game
This is so underappreciated. Even in fantasy rolling is an absolutely idiotic way of dodging. It does not convey to human anatomy so its absolutely moronic regardless of any levels of realism.
@@paintorian2064 i agree. it was high past time for players to be able to swap out the lame roll for a base quickstep if they wanted. especially since from made two successful games with the step before ER. this is the most rpg oriented a souls has ever come so its baffling really when so many fights wouldve benefited from it

Spectral lance, for whatever reason, was coded like an arrow. The reason its damage is so poor, is because it has super short range for damage fall off. Equipping the arrow's reach talisman can help mitigate this downside. Note: the arrow's sting talisman does NOT work with this ash of war, just arrow's reach.
roiling magma works extremely well with radahns weapons. Since his ash of war pulls enemies all the way to you, even if they get caught at the edge. What’s cool is a roiling magma IMMEDIATELY followed by starcaller cry allows you to pull the enemy to you, and as you finish off your weapon art, you’re gonna see a badass purple explosion as the same exact time the magma explodes.

Also Shard of Alexander affects Lightning Rams damage as well since it's a Weapon Art and Lightning-Shrouded Cracked tear!
It's worth noting that on shared order, both for the caster and anybody around, the buff technically isn't a weapon buff, it's a player buff. Meaning you can pair it with a spell or grease to get even higher damage. In certain cases with the right stuff, you could achieve 1k or more damage with a single colossal sword hit, even if the enemy isn't undead.
Ice spear is my choice. Excellent for dismounting also. Theres so many i want to try though. Love how creative we can be.
fun fact: Raptor of the mist kicks ass in both PVP and PVE. it is the only way to dodge crouch pokes with ulgs or running r1 heavy thrusting sword
Sacred Blade is great if you don't want to put the 13 int/fai into Sacred Order blade and you're just passing through an area, although if you're in a heavy undead area and are clearing it/farming for stuff I'd pick the spell. The spell lasts much longer for the cost of FP to use it and there's no temptation to try and launch a magic projectile that you can get stunned out of by enemy hitspam.
Really wish holy damage was more viable in PVP, covenants associated with Those-who-live-in-death could help fix that.
Edit - Also, good news. Waves of Darkness has been fixed. The broken R2 works as intended.
Barbaric roar doesn't only change Axe R2's, it works for a whole bunch of ones, even Collossal Swords.
Give the rusted anchor bleed with wild strikes and not only do you destroy poise, but also the enemies will to live.
The charged heavy attacks of the Barbaric Roar, War Cry, and Braggart Roar can also get increased damage from the Roar Medallion.

for a fun time use crag blade on caestuses with the raptor armor and claw talisman, you'll be destroying posture with jump attacks, I managed to stagger the fire giant like 4 times in a single fight with this combo
Charged attacks after warcry also deals poise damage as you run forwards right before attacking. Really cool ash of war.
Played my entire first play through with “square off” on a broad sword. Timing can get a little difficult but typically 2, max 3 hits with this with stagger anything in the game for a critical.
Blood blade only takes HP if you dont use it on the exact weapon you showed in the vid. If you use it with reduvia it has no cost.
prayerful strike makes your mimic nigh immortal. the healing is % based and mimic is a truck 😂 also redmanes flame is so op that it alone can make the game trivial 🤣 them are my fave 2.
The Lightning Slash stomp has a hitbox and can stagger for long enough to land the strike. The delay of the lightning ("meaty" in FGC terms) is also good because it gives you more chance to get off a charge R2 or something.

Worth mentioning that the strong attack on Unsheathe headshots for greater damage and stun so it's ideal for humanoid foes and will almost always stance-break them if it doesn't kill outright.

Storm stomp is great for interrupting medium enemies when they're about to finish a combo or start one
The stomp sweep does some damage against soldiers hitting them in the legs not a lot but they don't expect you to go low.
