was literally camping youtube for this one
Same. I thought it was gonna be out quick because of the 10k
Props to Nico for making a bold move to try and break apart the stagnant race. I feel if he waited just one more lap to make it he might’ve had a great chance to win it
yeah it was way to tactical and slow all those guys could run faster.
Ky Robinson is the 14th man to win both the 5k and 10K
This is the type of racing I love. Thank you Nico for keeping the race honest
sacrificed his race for it
😂 Are you kidding? They ran the first two miles as if it was a 10-miler. Nothing honest about that.
And there's nothing "sacrificial" about running the last mile faster than the first two snail-paced miles. 😂
Will be interesting to see how Hicks and Robinson do in XC this Fall...Hicks, of course, won the 2022 National and Robinson came in 10th. Maybe they can beat NAU this year.
if cole stays healthy stanford will be nasty
@@masonlawless5478 true. And Nico's twin brothers chose to go to Stanford rather than NAU. Robinson has one more year and Hicks two so Stanford will have some front runners this year and next...and, if the Young twins blossom, the sky is the limit. And then there is Cole...
After winning the XC championship NAU really shit the bed for track season.
@@RobotKid2000 they did poorly in track '23. It will be interesting to see how they do in XC this Fall...stay tuned...
Thanks for stating the obvious
Pov: chillin the whole race and then opening up your stride with a lap to go. Sheeeeeesh
Pov: Ky robinson being the goat
Being the father of a Harvard grad, I rooted for Graham Blanks. He ran a tough, smart race. Within the last 500 meters, I saw him tip his head to initiate his move twice. Congratulations to him on earning second place in this race!
28:10 10k and 14:04 5k, in the championships. Essentially the same pace for the 5 k as the 10k, and it could have been much faster. Ky got a little bit of a break, but you never know what is going to happen in these long distance races. Sometimes the pace is very honest, sometimes it is a sit and kick, like this one was.
If it wasn't for Nico's surge it woud've been slower. Surprised Fay didn't unleash his kick off such a slow pace.
These guys make me love the sport even more
We were absolutely losing our minds for Parker Wolfe coming up that last mile! VERY good things to come.
Unfortunate to see the heat take out the Air Force guys, though!
This shows you how impressive the women's 5000 in 14:05 was. Yes, I know it was hot and these guys were running a tactical race.
Not really she’s a professional athlete and these guys are still young
@@DhDhrv-iy5lq college athletes shit on all female professionals in every single discipline
Dude high schoolers are getting in the 13:30’s.
I looked up the young man Ky. 5k best times in the low-mid 13s. The women are good but not as much as you're putting it.
@moaning pheromones I admitted it was a tactical race; the winner ran 28:10 to win the 10k a few days earlier, and I know the best men are well under 13
Great race for yaseen even though he didn’t have the greatest finish
9:45 Kai Young?!
The pitcher? Oh, that’s Cy Young.
They have such talent deciphered
officially a ky robinson fan now
I hope he scores big in the XC Championship 2023 and Hicks is right next to him...both are front runners. Thanks for your comment!
Again - Robinson so patient.
Bruh I forgot about Matt Strangio, my guy peaked in HS, but glad he’s here on the national level
Nico would probably place better at US Nationals because it will be a faster pace.
I completley agree, he can’t sit and kick and this race really highlights that.
Yeah I don’t think Ky is gonna be competitive at US nationals
@@pinty2109 Especially since he's Australian.
@@zk4761 that’s why I said he wouldn’t be competitive
@@pinty2109 🙂 I agree.
Stupid to have a distance race in Texas. Poor guys looked mighty wet. They could easily deduct 10 seconds off their times given the heat/humidity. Dwight Stones is the best track announcer.
And a 55.5 ish second last lap. Good lord. That's a 4:15 last mile. Holy smokes!
Epica carrera
This is why we love Nico Young!
Why don’t y’all show the entire race 🙄
commercial breaks maybe?
@@ajlecs7932they still have the footage of the full race. It would just go silent during the commercials.
Able to see the entire D2 and D3 meets.
@@audxc I feel like that would be better, honestly
Unless there was action like Nico Young's spurt, not much of the middle race mattered. Nico's surge made the race, altering strategies. It didn't faze Ky Robinson as much as the others.
Ky the boss
Let’s go Tobyyyyy G
what a tactician
Can the pace be set fall way back to front many times early late
Altitude training? Stanford don't care!!!!! ;-)
Well done Ky Robinson 🇦🇺🇦🇺
14:04.77! A little better than Faith Kipyegon's world record just ran for the women at 14:05.20!
Yeah but the conditions in Texas were way worse, compared to in paris Diamond league
I mean they jogged for 2 miles until Nico made the move, they couldn’t have cared less about the time.
yeah so that holds no merit as conditions were different and these guys didn’t start trying whatsoever until after 3k
Not even comparable. Kipyegon would’ve ran 14:40 in this race, she ain’t closing in 4:04 last 1600 lol
What happened to Nico?
I really wanted him to win
He doesn’t have the finishing kick that a lot of the other guys have, and I think historically hasn’t done too well in the heat
Is Drew Bosley injured?
WOOOOOWWWWWW!!!!! Could you let me know what I saw? Damn it, I haven't seen this since Lasse Viren. This guy is going to revolutionize athletics.
What are you talking about? He jogged for 3.75 miles and ran a hard lap. You’re impressed? Look at that time. A Bunch of high school kids are running faster!
@@isitrachelorj3953 Then why don't this bunch of HS kids win the NCAA champ?
@@isitrachelorj3953 Jim Ryan ran even faster and set world records, and what did he win?
Jakob would literally lap these kids
@@isitrachelorj3953 lol when you don’t know how many miles a 5k is
embarrassment to our family. Brian, don't bother coming home
RIP Brian
Super slow over 14 minutes
Y’all are so slow on the track content tf
Brian fay folded
Way too many runners in this race. 12 max.
Nico ran about the dumbest race possible. Why would you sit back for two slow miles and then suddenly blow your wad with four laps to go? 🙄
When D3 is faster and more exciting than D1 lately ….
To this day the woman announcer still makes me cringe everytime I hear 9:00
Lol - Faith Kipyegon would be tucked in at the back of this pack of 20 year old MEN based on her 14:05.7 WR.
Pick it up, boys😂
Faith wudda placed 2nd in the Men's NCAA 5000m championship. 😂
you ever wonder if runners could be faster if they had no teeth and could mouthbreathe more efficiently?
Slow
Making these young athletes run in a hot state during the hot time of night is so STUPID! No one can get records! Run in the morning or do it in San Diego!
This is a terrible race. The runners with worse kicks dud not take out the pace to deaden legs thus guaranteeing kickers would win or place better. This was another idiotic tactical race where runners self sabotaged better finishes
Nico went with 4 laps which is a pretty decent tactic to try and get away from ky. I wouldn’t say it’s a terrible race. Ky is just very very strong and light more than being a kicker although he has a decent kick.
But yes I guess the fresh guys should have just tried to run fast from start (13.30 pace) to dead doublers legs
@@gorillababy1235 That's the problem. They turned a 5K into a mile race
@@RCFSULAW to be fair, the conditions weren't very ideal for a fast time. (temperature)
@@RCFSULAW Well then how come the 10K runner won and not the milers? Your logic is terrible.
@@jzkramer Your an idiot. Because the 10K runner is a 3:51 miles and used his miler kick in both races. Kai Robinson happens to be good at every distance. The rest are not. For example, Charles Hicks does not have good miler speed and neither does Nick Young who has run a 13:11 5K. Both would have benefited from a quicker pace as most of the top 8 would not have been there with a mile to go. I know a he'll of a lot more about training and race strategy than you do and the consensus I have seen is this strategy racing allow g whole fields opportunities. Just like tonight. In the 1500 the best runners should try to run Tuohy's legs dead in the 1500 as she wants a slower pace to benefit her 5000 later. People like you don't have a clue. This is why in many open races teams like Washington enter a miler in the 5K to take the pace out quick and he drops between 2 and 3K so the pace is honest and it does not become another mile race. There are no International meets upcoming where you will see anything like this. The only stupidity might occur in the US Championships. If it does the top 3 in those events 1500 and up will be destroyed at Worlds. Kai Robinson will do great though. Running for Australia. Hicks can go top 10 in the 10K at Worlds but only because other countries runners are capped at 3. Hicks is the one that needs a fast 10K pace at US nationals or he will be staying home. This is the same reason McDonald lost in the steeplechase to a runner he dominated all year.
ncaa what is this??so many divisions!!waterred down..after h.sch..shood be 1 division!!!lol
Who won? I fell asleep midway through. These Stanford wins suck compared to Sumners 800.
Dumbass comment
That's alright, typical for low IQ individuals that they can't stay focused on a race that takes more than 2 minutes.
Nico Nutsack fell off
А где же Великий Норвежец?!
This is ncaa
LMAO
