But his hair in the video ‘You are my Sunshine’ seems to work OR because that video is so beautiful, he can do no wrong. As fans we tend to focus in on Prince's fashion sense with clothes and shoes, but the hair is also iconic. One of my favorite hairstyles was the Diamonds and Pearls/Symbol album era. The sound was more edgier with hip hop elements, but the hair was elegant. Miguel took a nod to this hairstyle during his Kaleidoscope Dream era. Very strategic for an younger artist likened to The Purple One. Great vid !!!! Big ups to Devin !!!!

So interesting that as he came to the end of his life, he started rocking his natural afro textured hair. Years of perms and chemicals to look more European helped his cross-over appeal but we can only guess what that does to our crown. Great video!

I liked both long & short hair on him. The afro is nostalgic but I only liked it in later posed pics really shaped well. His hair grew fast too, think Parade 1986 very short then late 1987 Sign O the Times, long.💜

The look on Ellen when he wore the black coat w/detailing on the sleeves & she pulled out the For You album. That was a great cut. I wanted my hair like that. His stylist said he liked short hair more & that he said long hair was cool & looked good when he played guitar & it was blowing. She asked him again if he really wanted her to cut all that pretty hair off & he said yes.
