Diversity is what makes a city. Vienna in the 80s and 90s was boring and drab. A lot more vibrant and colourful now!
@@aayohfaran8116 But diversity does not make a city better. At least not for me as a real Austrian. I can no longer really identify with this city. I don't like what Vienna has become. The city has become a foreign city for me and a city of strangers.
@@namenlos40that's because YOU choose to alienate the city from yourself instead of embracing all that's new and diverse about it.
Whilst diversity has some issues, in my opinion it brings much more positives. The great cities of the world are so because of diversity. The colour, people, smells, cultures, opinions, religions bring so much to a city.
I was born in Vienna and it has a special place in my heart, but for a long time I wouldn't live there despite its beauty, because of its drap, boring and sometimes hostile atmosphere.
Things are changing for the better in Vienna whenever I visit and it's a great thing! 👏

Because your statement implies an "ought". Namely, that I should perceive and feel differently or be different.
It is obvious that different people see things differently and that there are probably also differences among different groups of people (e.g. you with and I without a migration background). I am speaking of myself and for many autochthonous Austrians who see things in a similar way to me.
@@aayohfaran8116 As an aside, it's a myth that diversity is better than homogeneity. Studies show that homogeneous societies are more peaceful and more solidary than diverse ones. The cohesion among each other and the identification with each other are greater.
