After a decade long hiatus, iconic Australian band Powderfinger tuned up and gave a little happiness to fans during these challenging days.
The title signifies the one off nature of this event and points towards the very important charities the band are supporting, Beyond Blue and Support Act. With a nation-wide viewership, Powderfinger raised over $500,000 for these two charities.
With millions of album sales in Australia alone, Powderfinger continue to captivate millions of listeners every month across streaming services and radio.
In April 2010 Powderfinger announced they were calling it a day. The band embarked on their Sunsets Farewell Tour, playing to over 300,000 people along the way, and on 13 November 2010 they played their last gig, until now…

From the UK I discovered this band in 2001 from a work colleague but never got the chance to see them live.

Can't tell you how many times I've listened to this since Saturday night. One of the most moving songs of all time and this is such a special recording.
The measure of a truly brilliant song - you can play it a dozen different ways, a dozen different incarnations, and each one of them is bloody brilliant! Every time I hear this song, from the very first original version, the Odyssey #5 version and every single live version up until this, it just gets me every time! Sen-bloody-sational!!!

I was never really a big powderfinger fan when they were popular, but they were SO popular (in Australia) back in the day, that their music was always around, somewhere in the background of that time. I find myself reconnecting with that time through their songs now, and it's wonderful.

This song still makes me feel oddly nostalgic for when the world was locked down. I think there was still a feeling that there would be light at the end of the tunnel. I don’t feel that much anymore. I’ve been lucky enough to see them play a handful of times. I was devistated when I found out they were breaking up. The sunsets farewell concert is something I’ll never forget.

I have been so luck to be at their concerts, Its the one Aussie band I had that was my vintage. The songs have been in 'our' times shared with real events and people in our lives. Their songs bring back so much of those precious memories. So you can imagine the shock when you see the age of the albums and the words find the deeper meaning, felt even more as we have aged. These days truly are not what I had planed but in the end it never does nor I guess meant to. I hope they find the answer to develop another album, as artists they have a gift that can touch us all and teach us all. So I am a very greedy person and I want to share the experience of a concert with Powderfinger with the younger generation who as kids have grown up with this music and they can see why our music is so much better than some of the crap today. Well thats my excuse for them to get back to the recording studio's. So Boys, like with Joe DiMaggio our nation turns its lonely Eyes to you. Remember your fans have you guys 'On our Mind' and 'We Won't Take No From You This Time' I mean Maybe I Should Have Followed You and Beat Down Your Door (mind you if I really tried I would bounce strait off it and my kids would just laugh at me again hahaha) So remember your fans have 'Sunrise Building a Reprise In My (our) Heart', this is no 'Ballad Of A Dead Man' ok ok I'll stop, you get the message. All jokes aside you guys have given more to us than you will ever know and we are all very greatful, so Thank You
