    I know you have it out for that DeWalt drill, but the diesel shop I work for uses a bunch of 'em. We've dropped 'em, whacked 'em, kicked 'em, and they just keep going. They're definitely not the best, but they've done their job.

    I’ve had that Dewalt drill I bought from Amazon for about 8 years now, and I haven’t had any issues with it. I’ve done tons of projects with it and it has never let me down. I recently got the impact driver to go with it and that has been a great tool. Is it a top of the line Milwaukee? ; no but it gets the job done fine. Even if it is the crappier battery, you get two with it, so I’ve never run out of juice for a project.

    I will just say I bought the DeWalt kit you hate in 2013 and it has worked great. I don't use it for knocking big nuts off but it works driving my fence screws, deck screws and cabinet screws and the chuck has not fallen off!!!

    • @engineer_alv
      @engineer_alv 12 дней назад

      that's great. I think the bear's point is that kit from 2013 still sells for the same price as a much newer, more capable and probable as long-lasting tool?
      I mean, if Apple charged you the same $1K for an iPhone 11 as they do for a 16, would you rather take the 11 home?

    I bought a Dong Cheng angle grinder for just $25 and I'm impressed at how well built it is, only downside is that it has a brushed motor, but it comes with the replacement brushes which is a good thing, also I'm not a pro but a farmer and I used it sporadically to cut rusty bolts and it works, so yay!

    Skil 12v tools are insanely good for a budget option. I bought a drill and impact set for $100 three years ago and they’re both still ticking and I use them professionally AND I was just at Lowes and they’ve updated the impact to make it way shorter which is sick and THEY’RE THE SAME PRICE STILL! • @rightwingsafetysquad9872
      @rightwingsafetysquad9872 14 дней назад +2

      And they're often a lot cheaper. I just got a combo with drill, impact, oscillating tool, flashlight, and 2 batteries for $80. The only cost cutting I see in this kit is the batteries are their older style that can't be charged with USB, but that's getting nitpicky especially for the price.

    • @rightwingsafetysquad9872

      @@jaaron2834 The wormdrive saws are from SKILSAW, not Skil. They are both owned by the same parent company, but are very much not the same brand. Like DeWalt and Craftsman or Milwaukee and Ryobi. Most of Skil's stuff is much higher quality than you'd expect for the price, but still short of the actual premium brands, such as SKILSAW.

      I've registered tools with Ryobi, Ridgid, and a few with Milwaukee....seems to work ok, you can upload receipts as well. The problem is I have a feeling at some point all those registrations will disappear anyways, they use your data to sell to other companies for advertising purposes so you just get bombarded with junk mail more so than normal for a while it seems. The only thing with the Ridgid I know, is you have to register to get the lifetime service agreement, but so far I've had great luck with their tools, but I'm just a DIYer/Home user, so really the most basic tools usually do the job LOL.
      I wish there was a way to do what I do with Excel and just catalog all my purchases, date, store, tool description, model/serial numbers, and cost. Pretty basic but it would be nice if there was a way to do so online that worked with the company's database too, so it would share your inputs with the tool makers as well for warranty/registration stuff.

      I have several of the Skil tools. I registered the serial number and receipt when I purchased for the 5 year warranty. I had a driver fail after 4 years. Went to the website, all the info was there, called the 1-800 number. They asked me to describe the problem, I did, they emailed me paperwork to take to nearby Fastenal store. I took the tool and paperwork in, they sent it in and in about 2 weeks I received a new tool via UPS. 2 days later, I received an email telling me how to register the replacment tool for warranty.
      Only thing better is Masterforce tools from Menards. I take the tool in, they tell me to go get a replacement off the shelf. They scan the barcode and I walk out the door.

    I wanted a spare DeWalt 12-volt drill driver and ordered the Xtreme 12-volt Max tool-only, mainly because it was listed as "next day delivery". Next day came, and late in the day they said, "Sorry, there's been a delay. Delivery will be in another two days." So at the end of the two days, another text saying, "Your order's been delayed. You can wait, or come back here for a refund."
    I don't want a refund, I want my damned drill!

    I’ve gotten burned by Amazon. Items that never arrive. It’s frustrating.

      File one of their A-Z complaints. If the item you bought didn't sell from amazon directly, and was sold through an independent retailer, they usually give you a refund almost immediately. Amazon doesn't care because they don't take a loss on the product. Someone else does. Its like Debit cards. The bank doesn't care if you get scammed because its not their money, its yours. For credit cards they care because its they're money and you have to pay it back.

    Dong Cheng is a cheap & good tools, just that they have been so slow to introduce new tools to their target market.

    I absolutely can’t stand Dewalt. I’ve had issues with Dewalt’s factory authorized warranty shops and Dewalt doesn’t stand by their customers. There’s a RUclips channel ‘Finish Carpentry TV’ who has a lengthy video about his experience which echoes my experience as well. Milwaukee and Bosch are my preferred brands for tools. Ryobi and Skil are my value tools. EGO for lawn & garden.

      When we are at our place in Vegas, we can get same-day delivery and then we go home to Montana and it takes at least a week if not more.

    I bought most of my tools from Lowe's, less than a mile away. Home Depot is 20 miles away. I used to love Ace Hardware.

    Maybe 20 years ago, I burned up two DeWalt drills in a year! Since then I stayed away from DeWalt hand power tools. BTW…. DeWalt is owned by crappy Black and Decker. Band D makes the worst junk.

    I've bought Milwaukee & DeWalt circular saws. DeWalt impact drivers DeWalt Multi tools, Milwaukee 18v right angle grinder. That's only a start. All on Amazon. Absolutely no problems. I'm very satisfied.

    What happened to a lot of tool brands? They for whatever reasons were bought out by Stanley- Black & Decker and other companies--this includes Dewalt, Craftsman, Kobalt, others. Quality took a steep dive downward. Craftsman is now pure junk. Sears did a disservice when they ditched Craftsman. Their yard machines aren't worth the aggravation to purchase and hope they will perform. There is way too much junk on the market.

    Kimo has 3x more reviews than the Avid. Both are rated at 4.4 stars. Maybe you just got a bad one. Personally, I would not buy either one of them.
