This is the first video I have seen which does not follow generic drums, bass, pad, lead workflows. Although this is not like the music I make, being strophic songs, I can see that your methods are going to get me closer to my music on this instrument. Thank you
Thank you so much for the inspirational video. I hope you will continue ;) Totally agree with you - you can create a lot of good music on four tracks! A few questions. - Are these samples from the Move package? Or? - How do you determine the duration of the loop recording on different tracks? I just find the screen not very informative for that.... - By transferring this preset to Ableton all settings and features are preserved? I'm talking about twisting knobs, duration and other randomness of playing live Thanks :)
Thank you for watching and supporting! All sounds in the video are preset patches from the device that I tweak during the process. When a clip has been recorded or captured, the loop length is shown beneath the Track Preset name on the display. You can edit notes and loop length after the recording if you want. I haven't tried to transfer the presets to Ableton yet. I'm recording the audio directly (stereo out) to Ableton, but I will try transfer projects and presets to Ableton in upcoming videos. /Johan
@@JohanWave , thanks for the feedback ;) I will wait with interest for new videos. I just didn't think it was possible to create ambient and chillout on Move. Thanks to you I've looked at Move in a different way. Because these styles are originally minimalistic. And involve interaction with loops and variations ... PS And also it would be interesting to hear if there are any pluses compared to OPZ (well, besides the connection with Ableton ;))
Hello! Thanks for watching! I wasn’t that precise with my loop lengths here because the tempo is so slow and the sounds on the tracks kind of melt together without having the exact same loop length. It worked out fine!
Thank you so much for your videos, you are creating such a beautiful sound. I am thinking now to buy a Ableton Move and give it a try, I have a question all the sounds be already on the Move? Or did you have to upload the sounds on the machine? Thank you
Do you think that Ableton will add more sounds (synths, pads etc) over the coming months? Also, are the synths the same as I will find in Ableton Note?
It’s hard to say, but I’m guessing Ableton will add some functionality in software updates, since it’s a new product. I haven’t used Note that much, but the instruments in Move are Drum Sampler, Wavetable, Drift and Melodic Sampler.
Yeah, You could use resample as input source on a drum rack or melodic sampler, and record Move’s overall output. But I guess I would have to replace one of my tracks with a ”sampling” track. But it should be possible, yes. For me it’s easier to record the performance to my laptop.
I've been waiting for someone to share a video like this of the Move. Thanks to you for making it.
Thank you for kind and encouraging words! Glad you like it. More videos coming soon!

I agree. Thanks for sharing, I've been looking for something like this for awhile now. Subscribed!
Reminds me of Brian Eno Music for Airports, nice track
Oh! Great track for sure! I love his work 🎶
Getting mine today. Very excited
Cool! It’s a great machine! Good luck!
Thank you so much for sharing your process. Inspired
And thank you for watching and supporting. Glad you got inspired!
Great stuff I hope you do more tutorials
Thank you for watching! More tutorials very soon!
Good to speak for explain 💪
Thank you 🎉
Thank you Johan!

Thank you! 🥰
I didn’t see you fussing with loop lengths, which is great. These are midi tracks, right? How do they loop seamless?

If the move had mpe I would be on the streets selling my body right now.
Hi, what a nice ambient work! I will to ask if there is a mode to control the "Pan"... :)
Thank you! 🙏 I don’t know if there’s a pan mode, but I guess it would be possible in Ableton control mode atleast.
@JohanWave thank you so much! 🖤
@@kitore7797You’re welcome! 🌸
Yes, you can set the pan of each track. I don’t have a Move yet, but I read the online manual.

But the plastic film on the screen... how can you live like that!? :)
How do you pan melodic or synth tracks?

Can the performance be saved as a Resample?
