    While I paint this colorful portrait of a bearded man let's discuss INSPIRATION for a minute. Does requiring inspiration dictate when you go in you studio?
    Being an artist is a full time job that usually means thinking and working on your craft day and night, in all situations. If we decided to work only when we feel inspired we become ineffective. Do you agree?

    Hey Charla it’s Christian King. Great Video! I started acrylic painting when Covid hit a couple years ago. I’m trying this more “loose” style. I struggle with it though. I constantly keep moving towards realism when I don’t want to because I’m not good at it lol. Did you struggle with that at all way back when?

    • @BoldSchool
      @BoldSchool  Год назад +1

      Hey! I'd love to see your work! In every single one of my classes I talk about the struggle of realisms vs loose. One way to push yourself is to hide away all your little brushes and only use one inch or bigger...nomatter what size your canvas. And paint fast. Have you taken my free class at www.boldschool.com? It's all about ways to loosen up your work.

      @@BoldSchool umm no but I’ll definitely be checking it out! And the big brush thing is brilliant lol. I’ll admit I don’t have many big brushes. I guess detail is subconsciously at the front of the brain.

      @@BoldSchool hey Charla in any of your lessons,free or paid ,do you talk about how much you load your brush through out your process? I’m struggling a bit with that area. I tend to get mixed answers on RUclips and books.

    I know this is time lapse... but how long did this take you? Asking because I’m trying to figure out the way you paint over layers without getting mud!?!? I know dry brush is part of it......

    • @BoldSchool
      @BoldSchool  3 года назад

      Just that you already have some experience with painting in general. I do begin with the basics of drawing and face a start from scratch with the concept of abstract bold color. But I don't go over tools and how acrylic paints functions.

    An artist who only dreams? Artists must act. Action precedes growth. I would die if I could not draw SOMETHING TODAY! I turn OFF the Good/Bad Judge as soon as he appears. He has nothing for me.
