Zito is the true hero. And he knew ahead of time, could you imagine this team with Q as the coach? I love Paul Mo and he's getting the job done & then some but Zito is executing his vision to perfection. Such a deep team & so well coached.
Traditional hockey markets are just salty that Florida has two good hockey teams. The Florida Panthers were in the doldrums of the league for years. Now they finally get credibility.
As a salty Leafs fan, it's just hard to see them doing so many dirty stuff and getting away with it lol But then again, if there is a system that is exploitable, they are possibly the best team in a long time to take full advantage of that playstyle. Come Playoffs, they will possibly nearly murder you and still find ways with Bobrovsky to defend against the few chances you are able to create throughout the game. I feel that a big portion of everyone's lack of understanding of how good a team the Panthers really can be or are, is the that as mentioned on this video, he wasn't playing full on mode throughout the season, which made people think they would have a chance lol Bobby, Barkov, Verhaeghe, just to name a few, are a nightmare to play against and it became very clear very quickly last season come playoff time. I don't think any Maple Leafs fan will come even close to asking for Florida anytime soon hahaha
Panthers Season Ticket Holder here, great breakdown of what makes our team so lethal. Sometimes I wish our d-men pinched more, but earlier in the year we gave up a ton of breakaways so, perhaps now they're slightly more conservative.
Glad to see the Panthers thriving. I can’t stand smarmy Tkachuk but Sasha and Bob are absolute beauties and as a Jets fan I’ll root for Paul Maurice any day of the week. I also loved them as a kid back in the Jovo days.
You don’t know Tkachuk, by that comment. Every single person talks about his character behind the scenes and what a great person he is. What you hate is the way he plays, but clearly he is very good. He’s the player everyone hates to play against but would love to have. Even Maurice said he hated playing him! Then he started coaching him and discovered what an amazing man and asset he is to the team!
@@edited1325 Yes, the Leafs. 😔 I've watched less and less hockey each year since 2013. I used to watch most regular season Leafs games and every playoff game.... even for other teams because playoff hockey is next level.
Not sure why fans across the league were still treating Florida like some surprise team heading into this season. They literally had the best record 2 years ago. Yes, they were an underdog to Boston in that playoff series, but any non casual fan can tell you Florida has been a great team the past 3 years.
Florida played Boston hard all year last year. I’m a Bruins fan but I’m not surprised Florida won. The media framing their win as the biggest upset in the history of everything ever was overkill. They played Boston hard, they were coming off a great year the previous year, and they hit their stride and went deep. That’s hockey parity for ya.
Matt Tkachuk is becoming one of my favorite players in the league. He’s a guy that any fan would love to have on their team. He’s got astonishingly puck control and edgework but also can find a way to get under your skin without making it obvious.
I am Calgary fan but I stopped watching them when he was there. It is like watching baby acting tough when father is around but crying as a little cnt when someone steps up to him.
When we hired Maurice and I saw last season what he was developing o did not worry, I knew worse case scenario we regress a little but will be super competitive in the playoffs. This year, Zito continues to show what an amazing GM he is in picking up scraps from others for nothing and do roster building that’s perfect for the coach’s style. We got somewhat bigger, definitely kept the grittiness and aggressiveness and I firmly believe it is paying dividends and Stolarz has been a great substitute to allow Boborovsky to rest and get great results as well. I think getting to the cup final is our floor at this point, I don’t see any other team with the physical will to match us. I think we probably face off with either the Knights or Canucks, and I think we can take the Canucks out relatively easily while the Knights would be a tougher series but this round two matchup I think we take series in 6 or 7. Only way this does not play out is if the Canes can keep up with the bruising checking, I know Rod instills that mentality but not sure that their personnel can pull it off as well as we do. Thanks for showing something positive about the Panthers, in the media, especially Toronto and northern original six we get no love or even a mention. People still make excuses for last year and say that their teams lost to us as opposed to us taking it. If we lift the cup it will be hard to ignore us up north. Either way I think we have a solid 2-4 year window right now where everything aligns well for us to possibly win a cup or two 🤞
Canes fan. Hoping we don't run into you again, but part of me does think revenge would be sweet. Hell if it wouldn't be an entertaining series. That may have been the closest contested sweep in NHL history, and Bob deserves all the credit. Stood on his head. While the antics some of your guys dish out are infuriating as an opponent, I get it. Florida instills the most fear and respect in the East for Canes fans. Tomorrow night will be interesting. Also relate to the media and nontraditional market. Annoying at times to see all the love traditional market teams get, even if they aren't really relevant in the current climate/season.

The Panthers are reminding more and more of the 2011 Bruins and is leaving me completely envious to their style of play. I miss the grittiness that the Bruins used to play with and I hope seeing Florida do well will create a spark across the NHL to play more aggressively like in the early 00s and 10s. With the refs being wildly inconsistent the players need to police themselves now more than ever and seeing that aggression and heart in the NHL isn't dead I hope the trend continues towards more physicality in the sport we all love.
Honest question... Don't the Bruins play a similar style as far as the aggressiveness of the D, and their propensity for the D to pinch down in the offensive zone?
Honestly I was shocked at how easily Vegas ran through FL in the cup final. The physical, intense game they play seemed to have finally caught up with them.
Florida was all banged up by the time the finals came around but them finishing top near the top is gonna be scary I think they run thru Vegas in 5 if that’s the finals
After the Hurricane series Florida was beat up going against Vegas if you look at this regular season with healthy team Florida went 2-0 against Vegas I think they destroyed them both games.
@@mikekill94 yep I think you’ll see them run thru the eastern conference the only team I can giving them a hard time is Tampa honestly in the playoffs I think they roll thru everyone else in 5-6
Their style isn't aggression, it's extreme defense. Playing suffocating defense is what is shutting down potential breakouts and giving them takeaways. That's the opposite mentality as playing aggressive.
I don't understand why people underestimate the Panthers, the year before knocking out the Bruins they got the President's Trophy. Last year they had a mediocre season and then returned to their President's Trophy winning form just in time for the playoffs (and just when the Bruins were getting hit by injuries). They're a dominant team all around, solid offense, defense, and goaltending (Toronto take notes). Also Paul Maurice is a great coach.
Brindamour practices the exact same style of hockey for us here in Carolina. Only difference is we don’t have a guy like Matthew Tkachuk who can break games wide open.
I think Florida can win this year and I hope they do--from a Rangers' fan. They have speed and toughness--the latter lacking in the Rangers. I love Bob too!
Huberdau and so many guys, the panthers org knows what they want and what players to get or trade. Paul maurice is the shanahan or haurbaugh of the nhl
My take on the Panthers? They have the refs totally confused! They commit so many infractions the refs can't possibly call them all, so they let a lot go. That gets the other team pissed off, and then they start taking penalties. I saw this first hand Tuesday night in Dallas. 🤬🤬🤬
The Panthers remind me of a team of a different sport in the same state. The Miami Heat. Both teams are build on a culture of hard work, fundementals and getting under the opponent's skin byceither, being physical or exploiting the weaknesses of others and both teams are build to exceed expectations in the play-offs. I love teams like these. They really play a hybrid style of modern hockey and gritty old school. I would love to see them grab a cup because lord knows my team is still years away from smelling contention (Ducks) so i would rather have a team with the style i love to watch win one instead
Been going to panthers games for 20+ years and the excitement has never been higher. I’m so proud of this team and can’t wait to see what they do this year. Hopefully we’ll see a cup this year.
lol i love it. Now they got 2 former allstars and talented shooters in the trade deadline, one of them T scored 2 goals last night. The Panthers are in first place and have the most points in the NHL. They keep getting bettter and better and our backup goalie is better than last years. This is the Panthers year to WIN IT ALL!
I’m not a Panthers fan but I think this notion that last seasons run was some Cinderella story is lazy. It all comes down to squeaking into the playoffs…and it ignores the fact the season prior they had the best record in the NHL, fell short in the playoffs…then made a franchise altering move by trading away their best offense playoff for another star player who brings the exact type of style needed for playoffs
Ehh...I still think their entire system is over reliant on god tier goaltending. As we saw in the Finals last year, the moment Bob fell off even just a little bit, Vegas crushed them.
Can’t forget about Carter verharghe the guy lives for big goals Gus forsling has taken a step this year too. The Cats are deep we get big plays from every line
Florida has been strong for years, they've just honed the roster a lot to get what they want. Very difficult team to play, but always a really entertaining game. It's one of the few teams that I'll go out of my way to see their games, but they aren't my team.
Great video! Happy to see the panthers getting some respect, it’s been a long ride. They still have their occasional off nights but hopefully with their success the last few season they will get the respect they deserve.
As many times as I've seen people's go face first into the boards, I'm curious why they never installed a padded board to decrease the chance of injury.
The Panthers remind me of the Boston Bruins around fifteen years ago, back when they won the Cup and were a threat every single night. A great mix of skill and tough hard-nosed hockey! All teams should use them as a benchmark to build on.
The Panthers are as much of a "throwback" team as you are going to find in today's NHL. Their style of play vaguely reminds me of the ole Flyers teams of the 70s and the New Jersey teams of the 90s.
They have been a lot of fun to watch. If the Hawks aren't playing, Florida is one of the teams I look to see if they are on. I watched the Ott-Fla game yesterday and I was hoping for Tkachuk versus Tkachuk.
Their mother and grandmother warned then off of doing that. It's a family thing and they agreed to never fight each other on the ice. Keith, their father had no say in it. (I spoke to him about it at a game here). Brady threatened Barkov and then Matty threatened Stutzle. That's the extent of it. But watching Bob go after Brady was hilarious.
Florida is tough, but Vegas was tougher last year.I expect a return bout this year. The Vegas defense is extra large, and that gives them the advantage in playoff hockey. It's been so obvious since 2019,when 4 big and mean D men took a marginally talented Habs team to the final behind Cary Price. Those 4 were merciless.
The last team to win the cup that had such a vicious forecheck was the 2009 penguins, these Panthers are similar but have more size and physicality whereas that Penguins team had speedy, grinder type wingers with Elite offensive centers.
Coming into this season, I figured that Florida would be at the very least a good team that would find it's groove once the injured guys from last year's run healed up + plus the summer losses of Gudas & Duclair & hoping Bobrovsky's postseason form holds up. I didn't see best team in the east(one point ahead of the Rangers) or fighting for the President's Trophy(two points behind the Canucks, who nobody saw) coming. All i'll say is this, Florida is my favorite to win the east again, then the Rangers, then the Bruins.
Love him or hate him, every team that wants to win needs one player like Tkachuk. He is infuriating but also skillful. If he would be my team mate, I would be glad just because I wouldn't have to play against him.
Florida should’ve won the cup last year. Brutal that they didn’t after what they pulled off. Meanwhile Vegas coasted to the final against limp and injured opposition
calling Edmonton and Dallas "limp and injured" especially when Vegas's guys were likely playing hurt as well is a take. even if their road was easier, that's the benefit of winning a no. 1 seed.
@@slider903 I disagree.... the Peggers are big tough, have scoring punch and the best goalie in the world right now. The Oil have likely the 2 best players in the world, won 35% of the regular season this year on 3 winning streaks of 16, 8, and 5, and Vegas-odds has them as the cup favorite. Don't count out the Canucks who are probably the most balanced team in hockey and held the pole position best record in the NHL longer than anyone else this year. Also, LA could be a dark horse as they are big and tough and are built for the playoffs like the Jets and VGK.
If Toronto plays Florida in the first round, as is looking likely, they're really going to be in for a tough challenge. The Panthers beat the Leafs in 5 last year in the second round, and based off what I've seen from both teams this year, I wouldn't expect anything different.
I've been a hockey fan since 2009. I love this video because it shows defensive breakdowns & strategies in a way that makes sense. Yet, doesn't overcomplicate things.
You know you got a good team when Barkov is listed first or 2nd. There’s the gritty skilled goal scorers and then you have a beast in Barkov who is a two way juggernaut and a silent assassin. They play a full 200 feet style of game. Tough tough out in a best of 7 series.
The Panthers have another huge advantage over most of the other NHL teams that has nothing to do with the game itself. Very few expectations. No offense to Panther Nation but Florida doesn't carry the weight of winning expectation the way a Boston, New York, Detroit or any of the Canadian franchises do. No media hyperventilating over this or that or a tough loss. Bob got a $10 mil contract and nobody really cared. There was no losing of minds for the price they paid to get tkachuk, though he is turning into a big deal down there. The attitude in South Florida is yeah, we're good but let's take the boat out and fish. Sunrise is far enough outside of Miami that the Heat will still get most of the attention, and besides, the weather is nice and plenty of other things to do.

That game 7 loss against Florida will haunt me forever unless we win this year and beat them
funny things happen in a game 7, unless it happens to you then its not funny any longer
We? What position do you play?
Presume you're talking about the Bruins? If so, no chance. They'll be lucky to get out of the first round. "We" don't have the horses this year, nor do we have the grind and mental toughness. Team needs a rebuild.
Leafs will fold against Boston, like curl up in the corner crying type of fold

Cup champs baby! 🎉 so late to this video, but you absolutely crushed this brother. Best hockey channel on RUclips
The athletic called us one of the least improved teams after this offseason 😂
Panthers added multiple defenders and big bodies on the line
You play for them?
Technically you are playing up to the potential of what you achieved last season (2nd place)... so I guess one could argue it?
I didn’t know you played for the Panthers
@busfeet2080 who is "us"? It's always hilarious when fans think they are part of the "us". That team doesn't know you nor do they give af about you!
I’m new to ice hockey and I’ve just witnessed them comeback from 3-0 down to 4-3 away from home 😭😭 My new team 🙏🏾🙏🏾
im a leafs fan and this year ive been keeping an eye on Panthers. Well, i like Paul. He has the team he always wanted. and that is scary
Maurice is a beast of a coach
Yeah cause they gonna kick the leafs in 1st round this year :-X
Paul is a great coach!! I mean that as a person more than the coaching part of it! The way he treats his players and inspires them. I always love all the comments about the room, the dynamics, the character of each guy in there. That alone shows you what a great team this is all around from players to coaching to management. I have worked there in the past for a long time. THIS is the team. The best version of the team and staff ever!
This is growing to be my new favorite channel. Every video is a must watch
Zito is the true hero. And he knew ahead of time, could you imagine this team with Q as the coach? I love Paul Mo and he's getting the job done & then some but Zito is executing his vision to perfection. Such a deep team & so well coached.
Early!!!
You, my guy, deserve all the TSN and ESPN analysts' jobs. 🧐
I am also afraid of the Panthers. They just look like a team built for the playoffs that are on a mission to win it all this year.
Traditional hockey markets are just salty that Florida has two good hockey teams. The Florida Panthers were in the doldrums of the league for years. Now they finally get credibility.
As a salty Leafs fan, it's just hard to see them doing so many dirty stuff and getting away with it lol
But then again, if there is a system that is exploitable, they are possibly the best team in a long time to take full advantage of that playstyle.
Come Playoffs, they will possibly nearly murder you and still find ways with Bobrovsky to defend against the few chances you are able to create throughout the game. I feel that a big portion of everyone's lack of understanding of how good a team the Panthers really can be or are, is the that as mentioned on this video, he wasn't playing full on mode throughout the season, which made people think they would have a chance lol
Bobby, Barkov, Verhaeghe, just to name a few, are a nightmare to play against and it became very clear very quickly last season come playoff time.
I don't think any Maple Leafs fan will come even close to asking for Florida anytime soon hahaha
They get away with a ton, so why would they change? No one likes getting cross-checked or slashed.
That was such a classic naïve chant by Leaf's fans. Surely, one Panthers Fans I will NEVER forget.
true, true! It was being chanted by Panthers fans every win after that lol @@davideberhart9523
It was 3-1!
And I hate the Panthers. But I hate the Bruins more.
Why?
@@edited1325I hate them because they beat us every year. Since the 2013 derailment I essentially stopped watching hockey. 😂
@@badmanskill1112Leafs? But, it’s their year for sure… this time… Right?
Management is doodoo in Toronto
@@edited1325 Yes, the Leafs. 😔 I've watched less and less hockey each year since 2013. I used to watch most regular season Leafs games and every playoff game.... even for other teams because playoff hockey is next level.
@@badmanskill1112I 4-1 did not see this answer coming.
Not sure why fans across the league were still treating Florida like some surprise team heading into this season. They literally had the best record 2 years ago. Yes, they were an underdog to Boston in that playoff series, but any non casual fan can tell you Florida has been a great team the past 3 years.
coming back to this after panthers win the cup is oh so sweet
@@McAteer87 Honestly, I don't wanna see Carolina in the ECF again. Too many variables. Your PP and PK match ours. Its elite. You've added some scoring. Your goalie situations a little fluid but, it's supposed to be getting better soon for the playoffs. It would go 7 and I am not a fan of game 7's. Even though we won it last year against Boston...nope. Get me out in 6 at least. Tomorrows game will be a 1-0 slugfest.
@@FLBlazerEns You called that one.
@@FLBlazerEns absolutely loved the fact it ended 1-0, obviously we didn’t win but it was a good one and we played two periods with two top players missing most of the game…all looking good 👍
@@McAteer87 I guess you loved the game last night 😊you know also midway through the first period we lost Tkachuk and Lundel…if they’re in the game we probably win 😆
But I would love to get to the CF with you guys and go at it again, though I still think of both sides are fully healthy we win, it will still be a nice tight and bruising series, as the games should be….can’t wait 😆
Finally! As a panthers fan it makes me so happy seeing people talk about them more lately! Thanks Hockey Psychology!
Don't forget about Stolarz
@@mikekill94 yep I think you’ll see them run thru the eastern conference the only team I can giving them a hard time is Tampa honestly in the playoffs I think they roll thru everyone else in 5-6
@aidan_asparro6208 Tampa been falling apart but Playoff Tampa whole different team.
@@mikekill94 No team wants to play Playoff Tampa. Kuch showed in 2022 when he carried a team without Brayden Point to the finals.
Nice to see! Jets players thought they knew better than the coach.Need to be tough in the playoffs!
Spoiler alert: they won it all
First 3 games they made McDavid and Draisaiti look like puppies on the ice.
Brindamour practices the exact same style of hockey for us here in Carolina. Only difference is we don’t have a guy like Matthew Tkachuk who can break games wide open.
What if you bring Brady Tkachuk to the table that would be interesting
@@elasmith4218 he’s probably untouchable sadly
And he played under Maurice for x number of years! Of course it’s the same style!

Hey psychology, another great video! Was wondering if you could make one on Dallas as im a stars fan.
My take on the Panthers?
They have the refs totally confused!
They commit so many infractions the refs can't possibly call them all, so they let a lot go.
That gets the other team pissed off, and then they start taking penalties.
I saw this first hand Tuesday night in Dallas. 🤬🤬🤬
Florida is just a fun team to watch
Love Paul M., always a great bench interview. Candid and funny. Florida is lucky to have him. 👍🤪🏳️🌈
I won’t try to get ahead of myself as a Panthers fan but I really believe this is Florida’s year to win the Stanley Cup this season.
Well you aren't wrong!
I would love to see them grab a cup because lord knows my team is still years away from smelling contention (Ducks) so i would rather have a team with the style i love to watch win one instead
can you make a video explaining each of teams offensive and defensive plays and what they mean? 2-1-2 forecheck etc
The injuries were nasty too. And Vegas was better. Panthers play good d
As a canes fan i am so happy we thwomped the Florida panthers 4-0

Popped up on my feed...this is very well done. Subscribed.
Great video! Happy to see the panthers getting some respect, it’s been a long ride. They still have their occasional off nights but hopefully with their success the last few season they will get the respect they deserve.
As many times as I've seen people's go face first into the boards, I'm curious why they never installed a padded board to decrease the chance of injury.
puck wouldnt bounce off boards anymore...
Im a florida fan and since they aren't playing tonight im gonna watch hawks
Can't have Tkachuk vs. Tkachuk (in a fight, anyway), Mom said no.
@@FLBlazerEns And the camera was right smack on Brady Tkachuk when he gave a f-u to Bobrovsky. Hilarious. Read his lips no on ice mic's required.
Florida is built to succeed in the playoffs, not doubt about that.
everyone used to make fun of us, and now everyone fears us 🤭 i absolutely love it
Florida is tough, but Vegas was tougher last year.I expect a return bout this year.
Love it!! Look for my Panthers!! They going far again!!
I've waited 30 years for this and it's beautiful.
I feel exactly the same. It's mostly been rough being a Panthers fan all these years. I used to watch games and go to bed depressed so often.
Thank you for not just posting the same clips and actually making some drama and your channel interesting
Love the video as always, but I gotta give one tiny correction. "Alex" is not a nickname for Aleksander Barkov. Aleksander's shortened name is Sasha.
Thr Tkachuk trade was one of the best trades ever
Florida should’ve won the cup last year. Brutal that they didn’t after what they pulled off. Meanwhile Vegas coasted to the final against limp and injured opposition
I know right? Their trip to the cup was a cake walk compared to ours.
Man the panthers' tears are still so salty lol
calling Edmonton and Dallas "limp and injured" especially when Vegas's guys were likely playing hurt as well is a take.
even if their road was easier, that's the benefit of winning a no. 1 seed.
@@Anttyx don’t make me laugh. 😂. We would have beat everyone except Vegas. Oilers aren’t built for the playoffs and the jets were wannabes.
Great to see FLA get some credit and coverage, lets go cats!
It seems like it was just yesterday that the Panthers were playing boring .500 hockey in an empty arena. They sure turned it around quickly.
I love teams like this. I will be cheering Florida along in the playoffs because my team is probably not making it.
This is good for the NHL. The Stanley Cup playoffs needed more parody since in the past you had the usual teams go to the finals.
If Toronto plays Florida in the first round, as is looking likely, they're really going to be in for a tough challenge. The Panthers beat the Leafs in 5 last year in the second round, and based off what I've seen from both teams this year, I wouldn't expect anything different.
think you're still undervaluing Barkov after what you said about him, he is insane
He’s still somehow a Panthers fans secret
I've been a hockey fan since 2009. I love this video because it shows defensive breakdowns & strategies in a way that makes sense. Yet, doesn't overcomplicate things.
The NHL has had a Florida problem for a long time and its called the TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING!!
I love this team so much. Used to be jealous of Bruins' toughness years ago. I feel like this Panthers team is even nastier. I love it.
You know you got a good team when Barkov is listed first or 2nd. There’s the gritty skilled goal scorers and then you have a beast in Barkov who is a two way juggernaut and a silent assassin. They play a full 200 feet style of game. Tough tough out in a best of 7 series.
Going to the panthers game today. LETS GOOOOOOOOOO
Canes fixed this problem pretty quick😂
Canes are not beating the Panthers in a playoff series
We will get that cup someday!
its someday!
