May I suggest a cap from a milk or water bottle for your pole to sit in to protect the tent material from the pressure of the rim of the pole. Of course I would like to see some vids like this but in a desert environment.
I started Camping/Hunting/Fishing over 50yrs Ago! All you do and post are just stuff I have been doing since then!! Thank You for sharing to the "Younger" Generation!!
As always GREAT VIDEO!! Thanks for the new ideas, I carried one of those shelter halves for about 18 yrs and never dreamed of using it as an individual shelter! Loved that you brought back the Bushcraft Broom! Hope you had a Great and Blessed Thanksgiving!!
Cpl. Shawn, I was curious if you could visit your "fox hole" shelter from a year ago. I was wondering how well it has held up. And if it ain't raining, we ain't training..what about those snow flakes I saw in this video? Stay safe . And I hope you and the misses had a great Thanksgiving.
Good morning Mr Kelly happy Thanksgiving to you and your family and a loved ones. Thank you for the awesome video. I’ve learned a lot from your channel. I subscribe to your channel over four years now I enjoy every bit of it watching in fact, the ones that you did on your first videos I also subscribe to your Instagram post and I bought a bunch of stuff and I’m a Marine Corps veteran myself served 24 years. I was the second tanker in the Marine Corps 24 years, served arm, medically, discharged disabled
Hey Corporal!!! Wonderful video! I hope that you and your wonderful family had a great Thanksgiving. 🦃You always bring such great content! It is always a joy to watch you bring skills and wonderfully made items that you have designed. Keep up the outstanding work, and remember that there are those of us who stand by you completely. Keep doing things your way and however you need to do it….do it eaxactly that way. I am so proud of you and being a part of your journey. You are an inspiration and I am thankful for you being a mighty man of valor! Thank you for having a heart of gold, and balls of steel!!! Keep on soaring higher, brother! Love and blessings to you and your family. It warmed my heart when you spoke so kindly about your former student’s success….those are the moments that make Corporal’s Corner absolutely FIRE! 🏕️🪵🔥🤗🛡️⚔️💪🏼🛡️⚔️💪🏼🛡️⚔️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
As of 1925 MST, this vid received 305 comments, with only 7 of them negative, people complaining about "sales pitch". With the 1.09M subscriber base, that's 6 ppm contam rate. I'd say pretty squeaky clean. Love your vids, your work and your content, sales pitches included. You are inspiration for many around the world! Greetings from Russia 🇷🇺
Thanks for another great video. Was great to see the return of the homemade rake. Just last week, someone was asking about it in the comments. Excellent idea for the shelter half. Shows that they can still be useful, especially when it can be very hard to find two to go together.
Way back in the day, when I was in The Boy Scouts and my Dad was still active duty U.S. Army, we had our selves a bunch of shelter halves, my brothers and I got a lot of use from them. Oh, those were the days.
Finally I managed to get one. The cowboy skillet. This time shipping abroad available 😊. It's gonna be fry-time in the Swedish forests when it arrives. 😁🥓🥩
I can’t say for certain, but I am almost sure that the same stick/rake you used today is the same one that you have been using for the past 15 years. Well done!
Hey, that is great and new! It is the first time that I can listen to your words in my own language (German) and not only read a translation in the subtitle. Last week I was lucky to order one of your folding skillets. I know the way is a long one, it's far away, but I hope it will aarive here next week. Thank you very much for all. Ulrike
What I love about that shelter , other than the simplicity, is that I could easily cover the opening w my drum liner or grabber blanket if need be. ANOTHER great video😃
Did something similar w/a tarp back in my 20s (70 now) for a hunting trip. Diff being laid a mat of criss-cross small branches covered w/dry leaves: insulation. Then set up my ground cloth & tarp lean-to. Open side faced a bank. Made a vertical cut into the bank & fire made in the cut. Old army surplus trench tool & machete, 2 small pots, a cup, spoon & fork, my belt knife. I still have that old machete, may have that belt knife tucked away somewhere. Rifle still w/me, though somewhat used looking. Kind of broke & all my budget allowed back then.
Another great video. Thanks for the idea with the shelter half. While I agree with you that Survival Mastery is a great online learning platform and good value for the money, the intro for the courses you have going has not piqued my interest, making me want to pull the trigger. As more courses come online I might find something I like. All the best luck with the platform.
Great video...very nice shelter...cool if you ask me...thanks for showing an old airborne recon man i new shelter config...keep the videos coming....have been watching for years your channel and how it has grown...thank you
Already have the frontier and cowboy skillets. And the Campcraft Outdoors bag. Just scored the folding handle skillet. Looking forward to the cold handle skillet!
Outstanding! The return of the three tyne bushcraft rake. If true temper or Fiskars catches wind, they may try to beat you to the patent office! Keep up the great work!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family Shawn! Thank you for your hard work each week and the trial and error effort that comes from your heart's tenacity. I have signed up to SM with hope I will physically be able to do something outdoors this year. Been a long time sub.
Shawn, Thanks for Keeping It Real, I don't have a Shelter Half any more, but I've slept in them from Boy Scouts, and U.S.Army 1979-1986. Fried Turkey legs looks damn tasty.
I went through Army basic training in 2001, and we still used the shelter-half during our FTX. It's cool to see it, but I'd never sleep under one of those damn things again 😂.
Loved that gear and those memories! I remember the distinct smell the WWII gear had and using it on crisp clear fall nights with my Dad and Brothers!!! What fond memories!

Stay safe . And I hope you and the misses had a great Thanksgiving.
Same. Been wanting to see it and the fort/deer stand on stilts.
He built walls around the stilts and now it is a 2 story tiny home.
Thats shelter 1/2 is genius. Good Job.

Ah, the shelter half. What a blast from the past. I have (not so) fond memories of those - haha! Semper Fi!
We made Shelter Half condominium once, military poncho in the middle, 4 Shelter halfs forming a square.
That's a super quick, simple and easy setup
Thank You
Way back in the day, when I was in The Boy Scouts and my Dad was still active duty U.S. Army, we had our selves a bunch of shelter halves, my brothers and I got a lot of use from them. Oh, those were the days.
Old school with new school is a win win! Thanks for showing another shelter configuration! Looking forward to more amazing builds.

Stay frosty Corp!
Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃🍁🍽. And once again, I’m hungry after watching one of your videos 😋!!! “Catch you all in a few!”
Hope you had a good holiday. Saw a little snow in the video. More good information. Keep em coming.
Good video. I was jumping for joy when I seen the famous Corporal's rake.
I use my cowboy skillet and meat fork every weekend.
Thank you Corporal; love these videos. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
But he wasn't with his family. Weird!
yet stated in the video, people were coming out to the woods, when you skip through you miss out
Didn't know if you were going to eat the turkey legs or brain someone with them. They were huge.
I like that shelter. Not sure of shelter half dimensions, but now I have to see if I can replicate it with a space blanket. Happy holidays, Shawn.
Sure beats cold turkey from a mermite can!
Happy Thanksgiving
Keep Smilin!!!
Old school nice!
Outstanding AF!!

That does look like a nice cozy little system. 👍🏻
I used a shelter 1/2 like this in the Boyscouts back in 79
I really enjoy seeing the gear from WW2. My dad served then. In the 1960's we camped all the time in an old green army tent. Loved it.
What I love about that shelter , other than the simplicity, is that I could easily cover the opening w my drum liner or grabber blanket if need be.

The rake totally looked like a turkey foot to me.
someone got it
This is a super cool set-up with the shelter half. Happy late Thanksgiving. Thanks for the videos and the hard work.
Nice to see the return of the stick rake.
I'm thankful to you for sharing what you know, in such a plain, no BS manner
